Workers Day Trains! Rovos Rail To Namibia and Pretoria! from Kimberley. 01/05/24

- In this video you'll notice two trains of the same company heading in different directions.
the first train I come across is the one headed to Pretoria and the second one that came in is the one headed to Namibia from Pretoria.
the one from Cape town was just waiting on the 38 class locomotives so it can depart Kimberley, also no. 38 017 was doing it's first trip to Kimberley as a Rovos Rail locomotive and also in its livery.
The Namibia bound train left last and before it left the boundaries of Kimberley it was turned around at the Bloemfontein line and reversed back to the yard where the Rovos Rail crew was waiting on it with the Rovos Rail locomotives.
An amazing video this is. Great to see two Rovos Rail trains at Kimberley station.
Now I can see how the train can be turned around. I totally overlooked it on google earth when trying to locate it. Following the land marks and buildings I could trace where you are and how the track, which is barely visible on the satellite image, is situated. A triangular track turn around, whereas the one in Pretoria at Pyramid is a loop turn around. Brilliant.

Wow this, was a very nice video I really enjoyed it and thanks for taking us further then KIMBERLEY station. Please make a video of the depot. I love the class 38s in their rovos livery. Which diesels did they use to pull the train to Namibia
Hi Nigel, thanks for checking in as always! They used the Australian EMDGL26Cs they were already waiting at the far end of the train. I'll see what I can do in terms of the depot 🙏🏿
