Sat here with tears streaming down my face. Some times I can get so down and feel melancholic. The line "I know I should be goin' somewhere I just can't arrive" get's me every time. Pure class x
The line, "I know I must be going somewhere, I just can't arrive" pretty much says how we have all felt at one time or another. Powerful and emotional performance by Barry.
Under rated for sure. They made such great music before the critics disparaged them (unfairly) for creating "disco." Never mind that disco became a trend and made millions (if not more) for the artists and everyone else involved. I'll never stop loving the Bee Gees, pre and post disco.
Certainly one of the best Gibb records ever. The melody, the lyrics, Barry's voice (oh, what a voice!!!), the arrangement, the FEELING! That song makes me so happy I want to cry! I simply love it.
I used to hear this song in the early of 70's. I found it throuģh CZcams. My sweet little girlfriends, friends, school... It's a song to the people with a good taste. Friends, excuse my errors, I'm learning english by myself.
Great lyrics and great singing, it's like a Harry Nilsson. No one's heard of it because when you're as great as the Bee Gees, they've only heard of 50 others.
This song debuted on the Hot 100 at 63, a very high debut, and raced into the Top 40 in Week 3 at 37, then stalled at 34. Kind of an odd chart run to start out with so much momentum and lose it so quickly. Great song, definitely underrated.
This was the last of the pre-disco era Bee Gees hits. The second single from their 1972 "To Whom It May Concern" album, it made it to #34 on Billboard.
@@ellenmontgomery8533 I seriously doubt that Mo wrote the majority of this track. This is classic Barry. One of my favorite of all Barry and Bee Gee tracks.
My man is and always will be Robin....but, how could Barry listen to his natural voice in this song and resort to falsetto??? This is a beautiful song and Mo plays the piano beautifully. Great performance by the brothers Gibb. There will never be another grp like them. I listen to them daily....especially Robin and the songs he was "allowed" to lead in. No singer was more blessed with such an Angelic voice than Robin. Still amazes me the way he can change his scale flawlessly from extreme to another......miss him.
This wasn't a big hit, but when I heard it on the radio, I was hooked! The song builds up and up until it SOARS on the chorus! I found the album on cassette many years later. Thanks for uploading in good sound!
Roshan Black In the UK it was an A side with Paper Mache on the reverse. Despite showing Robin it doesn’t sound to me that he’s singing. There’s not enough variation in the arrangement between the verse and chorus. Barely warranted being released as a single. Pales when compared with its predecessor Run To Me.
Alive was released on festival label (spin) records in Australia in 1972. Not to be confused with staying alive which was a stand out five years later.
Damn you people are right. It was the A side with Paper Mache Cabbages and Kings on the B side. I guess because it was not well known at all where I grew up I remembered it as a B side.
Since I first heard the song for the first time on👉To whom it may concern《It is one of my long time favorites🎙🎹👌By the way👉To whom it may concern is a brilliant album and if you really listening to all of the Bee Gees Albums,if you find them, then if you don't know them all,you got a lots of great, great brilliant music and songs to discover, and it will blew you totally away🔝🔝🔝🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟Those who know all the albums know excatly what I mean, don't you ?
Some will not like what I am going to say, but the Bee Gees were better than the Beatles. And the critics (mysteriously) give credit & praise those who are not even as talented as the brothers. Anyway Bee Gees' fans know better than those who call themselves critics.
For me they were always better than any other group, loved them from the first time I heard them on the radio in Germany. Lost track a bit getting married a d having kids, but making up for lost time since the early nineties again. Love all their early stuff they did in Australia, didn't really like the so called disco era, but everything afterwards. Getting cds whenever I can get my hands on it, just discovered I can listen to their older albums on you tube( shows a bit my ave doesn't it :)? ) Nevermind I am glad I was there when they were young men, what amazing work have they done in all those years.
One of the only Bee Gees songs I can really get into, I really love this song. Would like it played at my wake along with Grateful Dead's "Black Peter" and "Brokedown Palace"...and Jerry Garcia's rendition of "Swing Low Sweet Chariot"... Feeling morbid right now...peace
This beautiful song of the Bee gees, is among my favorites. But it was so underrated that even many fans are unaware. Maybe that's why they didn't include her in her live repertoire.
Robin's not actually singing here, but it's Barry & Mo. What you're hearing is the studio recording, which Robin wasn't part of. It was also written Barry & Mo.
Also Robin. He was the co-writer of most of the Bee Gees songs...and songs they wrote for other artists. Somehow Barry seems to always get all the credit.
I think perhaps this is one where, in the studio version, there are multiple layers of Barry's vocals which would make it difficult to reproduce as a live performance. Great song! The BeeGees continue to surprise even 50 years (ish) after the fact lol
One of my all time favorites. Yes: Underrated and under appreciated song.
Totaly Agree !!
Sat here with tears streaming down my face. Some times I can get so down and feel melancholic. The line "I know I should be goin' somewhere I just can't arrive" get's me every time. Pure class x
The "Bee Gees" will be "Alive" forever..Always..
The line, "I know I must be going somewhere, I just can't arrive" pretty much says how we have all felt at one time or another. Powerful and emotional performance by Barry.
And Robin too you can see all the emotion in his face and the way he moves.
Not sure why Robin's lip synching in this video with Barry, as the audio (studio recording) we're hearing is just Barry & Mo.
Under rated for sure. They made such great music before the critics disparaged them (unfairly) for creating "disco." Never mind that disco became a trend and made millions (if not more) for the artists and everyone else involved. I'll never stop loving the Bee Gees, pre and post disco.
Written by Barry and Maurice. Barry's said he often doesn't worry about lyrics compared to music, but these lyrics are deep.
PREACH. I feel the same way.
Me too
Maurice is spectacular in playing the piano. He is the best!
Barry plays piano on this.
wrong! so wrong!1
Denis Morissette Mo is clearly playing the piano in this .
Denis Morissette Barry doesn’t play piano.
Certainly one of the best Gibb records ever. The melody, the lyrics, Barry's voice (oh, what a voice!!!), the arrangement, the FEELING! That song makes me so happy I want to cry! I simply love it.
So true....& what a voice he has!🎵
I discovered this song only now and it totally blew my mind. AMAZING!
Better late than never.
Same here! I heard it on auto play on Alexa, I was like I gotta know this song!

@@richardvanry9000 I agree, Richard. That's the reason to hear the old songs from seventy years or oldiest.
Profoundly Beautiful. Thank You BEE GEES!
It is an amazing track, nobody seems to have ever heard of it when I mention it.
Great lyrics and great singing, it's like a Harry Nilsson. No one's heard of it because when you're as great as the Bee Gees, they've only heard of 50 others.
Timeless, beautiful classic, holds up like most all their music.Their voices are all so celestial, especially together
Alive and Wouldn't I Be Someone are masterpieces that the disco stuff deep-sixed...so sad...so great.
Love Barry's voice in this song. Why wasn't this a hit?
It was-- just all too briefly, however...it isn't one they play on oldies stations, either--though i know not why
Robin's voice is like Barry's echo. All three were outstanding talents.
@@donnakilpatrick2117Robin doesn't sing on this track.
As far as I'm concerned Barry Gibb will always be the sexiest voice/man in music.
You've got that right!🥰

What a song! Powerful and pertinent!!
Greatest trio to ever live. BEE GEES FOREVER!
after Rush
Una melodia immortale. I Bee Gees sapevano modulare le loro voci per regalarci composizioni che superano ogni tempo.
This is such a great song AWESOME !
This was the last of the pre-disco era Bee Gees hits. The second single from their 1972 "To Whom It May Concern" album, it made it to #34 on Billboard.
How come we don't hear it on the radio, since it was a Top 40 hit?
The Bee Gees, best music for all times
My God! Do they never run out of great songs!?
2021 - just wanted to hear this song today… so happy I found it on CZcams - video was a bonus!
CZcams IS THE BEST MUSIC EVER
This is Barry....NOW!
Song of the heartbroken survivor.
I'd say he is the fortunate one...he's still alive
This song is hard to look up in context due to being overshadowed by their biggest hit, Stayin' Alive.
i've found u sometimes need 2 resort 2 citing lyrics (if u remember/know them) -- that's how i got here 2day!! (i had same issue)
The Kings Of music!!!!!!
How Sweet,Stay Strong For Us Barry🚶♂️🎹🎼
Incredible song. Top performance.
And THIS is why I love Baz vocals and music! He rules this track! I wore the groves out when I got this on vinyl.
My focus is on Robin in the background
When Robin and Barry sing together it's like hearing one voice...but different.
One of my favorites of theirs! I have played this over and over this weekend, a treasure!
+Gail G - Barry said it's one the few songs he forgets writing, is that unreal? He must have been blasted on something lol lol
This song was written by Barry and Mo....maybe Mo wrote most of it.
@@ellenmontgomery8533 I seriously doubt that Mo wrote the majority of this track. This is classic Barry. One of my favorite of all Barry and Bee Gee tracks.

Amazing song
Com certeza entre muitas outras ótimas canções dos Bee Gees, essa é uma das melhores. Para variar, interpretação sensacional do Barry
This was my favorite song when I was 13.

This is one of their hits that got lost somehow. It was a favorite of mine growing up and I remember getting the album mainly for this song.
Ray Ward where do i find the lyrics, if i search"alive" on youtube immediately switches on "stayin'alive"
Love Barry's voice on this song...right on the edge of being raspy, yet powerful.
