  • Songbird protects Elizabeth within her tower. He spends the majority of the game trying to find her and bring her home. I really loved whenever he was around, which sadly wasn't very much. So I made a video of all the scenes he's in!

Songbird wasn't a bad guy. Not once in the story was he a bad guy. All he has been doing in the game is to protect Elizabeth and keep her in the tower. Sure, she doesn't want to be in the tower. But he doesn't know that. She never said that she told Songbird she wanted to leave. Songbird just assumed that she was being stolen by Booker. So he's not really a bad guy. He's like a Big daddy. He's a Protector.

The song bird is a big daddy its just he was specially designed for flight not water and yes your right he did not know that Elizabeth wanted to leave so he assumed that the booker was stealing her, also if you noticed how his eyes turn different colors? there are 3 different colors for different moods green is friendly yellow or bright orange is awareness and red is for rage witch means he will attack that goes for the same with regular big daddys. Rest in peace song bird the biggest/cutest bird alive.

Songbird wasn't designed to handle deep water: if the fake beach water at Columbia could crack the glass in his eye after Booker and Elizabeth escape Monument Tower, then he didn't stand a chance in the very deep waters of Rapture.

Elizabeth assumed that animals inside formaline's tanks, were killed because they could not be connected with mechanic body.
Songbird could not be human, because human would not be able to move like a bird. Men were Big Daddy's carrier, because that creature was humanoid. That's just common sense.

I can understand why Elizabeth essentially hated Songbird as she got older, considering she spent her whole life isolated and imprisoned and saw him as being the one who kept her so. Even if he did love her, it cant really take back that she blamed him for years and years of near total isolation and unable to see the world, and she would eventually come to just see him as a machine built by Comstock to keep her imprisoned. But at the same time Songbird did genuinely love and want to protect her and that was all he wanted.

@The Professor Yeah, I might be a bad guy for the right reasons sometimes, but what Comstock did to deceive Songbird AND torture Elizabeth to indoctrinate her into do what he wanted was just disgusting. I would have made Comstock's end far sower and *infinitely* more painful. Especially for the people he allowed to harm mentally, emotionally and physically in the beginning. Like the waiter with the sodas at one point, it was like I could feel his pain. He was black, bald I believe and if I were to take a guess mid 20's to early 30's.

Songbird just wants to protect Elizabeth, She's his chick, he looked after her since she was really young, early in she says that he used to bring her food and books, just like a parent bird looks after their young, he wants to Kill Booker because he took his baby away, the moment she hugs his fingers he calms down almost immediately, you want to calm down an agitated mama bird: show her her babies. and if you notice, he gets really quiet around her, not his high pitched nails-on-chalk-board screeches, their more like soft metallic chirps.

I know many people are saying that they wanted a Songbird "final boss fight", but to be honest, what we got was good enough. What I mean is, we see this giant mechanical/possibly part organic bird-like creature flying around the city, we see that he can tear apart buildings with little to no effort, and took out waves of enemies in the final confrontation. How shitty would that be to realize "Oh, so all we had to do was shoot him repeatedly to defeat him" how original is that? I mean, they could've made it work by saying "aim for those giant eyes of his" or maybe take down the wings and let the fall kill him, but as many people have said, Songbird is not THAT threatening, but more saddening, because of what his job is, and listening to those sounds he makes. The way he died was fitting, because as many felt more FOR the character, his death allows them to keep feeling that way. I wish we saw more of him, but with what we got, it's good enough.

Yeah, the glowing eyes of his. Since his design appears to be based after Rapture's Big Daddies, technically they're called "Sensors". Green for friendly, red for hostile and yellow for aware. When he died, you see those sensors burst and you see what appears to be blood oozing out of them before the pressure crushes his vital parts and kills him.

The problem with Songbird is that there is no drama to him. He is literally a cutscene. There's nothing you can do, so there's no reason to fight. So you just kinda sit there.

    • @124085
      @124085 Před 9 lety +33

SSVCloud I agree completely. I'm not saying we necessarily had to have a big boss fight with the songbird but some degree of player interactivity would be nice. Maybe pulling in airships through tears to slow him down or stealth to help hide our tracks. even if these are scripted events they would add to the illusion of the songbird actually pursuing you.

Well using him in the end is pretty cool. Just wish him being an ally you can command lasted longer than few minutes. You can't really even marvel him because you are also being attacked constantly and have to protect the coils.
As for a fight with it outside of cutscenes i really can't see how Booker could even dent it considering it can crash into aircraft and Elizabeths metal tower at fighter jet speed and be totally unharmed. Youd need modern age weapons to kill it or entire Columbian airforce to get a jump on it before it takes fight, once its flies good luck hitting it with artillery and rockets.
Avoiding it in actual gameplay and getting insta killed when spotted would have been cool part of some level though, having to hide behind objects as it looks around and sneak behind another thing as it moves to a different location to look for you. Similar how you have to avoid a t rex in jurassic park the game, if you f up and get seen you get killed without being able to do anything.

No they weren't. Regular Big Daddies did not have any feelings nor deeper bond with Little Sisters. They were just a bodyguars, which have to protect every Little Sister they summon from a vent and after they are done, they just walking all over the place from one vent to another waiting for picking another one.
Individual bond with specific Little Sister was destructive for them. Alpha series from "Bioshock 2", which was programmed only for protecting one individual Little Sister, was going insane, when she was dissapearing (they were even screaming and moacking). Big Daddies were embodimend of slavery and mindlessness.
In case of Subject Delta, he regained his free will thanks to Tenenbaum's intervention, while Subject Sigma, because of Rapture's Civil War outbreak, was not even "connected" with Little Sisters.

Everyone says the handymen are the big daddies of infinite but Songbird looks more like them, acts more like them, and even does the glowing eye thing to show mood. Songbird is very clearly the big daddy of infinite, he’s a protector.

In the DLC For Bioshock Infinite, it explains that the previous Bioshock games are also another parallel universe. For example Fontaine (Futuristics) = Finkton (Fink Manufacturing). Big Daddies= Songbird. Little sister= Elizabeth. Those are just a few out of many. Again, there are always constants and variables. Also, both alternate realities could communicate through the tears as well, therefore, they both have similar technologies. Anyhow, the DLC links the previous Bioshock games to Infinite. It definitely makes things more meaningful and gives explaination why it is in Colombia rather than Rapture. So I would suggest either playing The DLCs: Burial at Sea Episodes 1& 2.

My theory for Songbird is he's a Booker Dewitt that drowned and went into a coma during his Baptism. Comstock found him then brainwashed and weaponised him Big Daddy style, cause of course he would never trust such an important task to just anyone.
That's why he's stuck in a propetual limbo of protecting and loving the one thing every other version of himself cares about.
He's both the constant and the veriable. Booker Dewitt and Comstock yet neither at the same time.
The pure soul trapped between selves.

I really liked how the devs made a Big Daddy that was more of an abusive father rather than a more affectionate father like the Big Daddies before
Songbird does love Elizabeth, just like a lot of abusers, but is too simple-minded to understand what love is that its only way of showing it is to keep Elizabeth imprisoned like a caged bird
