Update!
The fire has reached jasper on both sides. The petro Canada blew up.
They pulled out emergency crews cause it was to hot. My prediction is jasper is gone unless rain comes.

No ones talking about the Pine Beetle problem the park has had for a long time which surely was a contributing factor along with dry hot conditions, wind, ect. Just sad. Our favorite vacation spot. Im sad for everyone who called that town home.
Jasper, a whole town and countless wildlife, what a tragedy
In 2018 I hiked up the gondola mountain, looking down and across the town site and surrounding area I was astonished to see vast tracks of dead forest caused by pine beetle infestation...my impression then was all it's going to take is a lightening strike to set this off....and it did.
Saw online an annoymous post from a firefighter there ...70% of Jasper is destoryed ( apparently ) keep Jasper in your prayers😢

There should be some precautions that should be put into place around major populated areas that have massive woodlands, crops, etc. Therefore things like this don't happen as often anymore, especially when it's gotten as hot as it was these last couple of weeks.

Only a few more years and I doubt you’ll be able to afford fire insurance on your house.
Towns will need to consider fire breaks, fuel management, and other mitigations to protect structures from woodlands

The fire is “over” but the trauma has just begun; residents keep, an eye on wildfire salvage operations.
Satellite pictures show that the fire started while the sky was clear of any clouds . How does lightning occur without clouds in the area ?

Needs to be investigated. Strange that this fire began near one of the three roads in/out of Jasper and in a spot where prevailing winds were likely to take the fire towards the town.

No one accessed the damage. By the time they report a building burned down, another could have been burnt. The fire does not rest.

Keep Disaster Capitalism out of our jasper. Remember Albertans; Smith’s government can take unlimited political “donations “ without transparency. Call your local MD. Demand Jasper be rebuilt. Moratoriums on construction stay in place. Minimum 70% Canadian owners.
Alberta is lucky to have such a beautiful historical mountain park and facilities to explore. Jasper tourists come from all over the world. The best we can do is fight like hell to protect it as we remember it for those in the future to the same experience we have enjoyed.
