Dodgers players always get injured at the worst times lmao. I don't think its the reason we lost but it helped. Anderson should have gone one more, Phillips should have come in instead of Vesia, and Gonsolin should have never started. If we have a healthy Kersh, Gonsolin, and Buehler, I don't know what could stop us
Another vintage Dodgers season.
All for nothing, as usual for the Dodgers
@@thisaccountexists5545 Dave Roberts would’ve stopped you
There are 2 things I love as a general baseball fan.
The first is watching an all time great team play at an incredible level
The second is seeing that all time great team lose to a team who just played out of their minds and did the unthinkable
We Dodgers fans have been through this enough times, and it doesn’t even faze me one bit. When game 4 ended, I had no emotions. I was like welp, another year wasted. Of course I was angry but not showing it. I mean it’s been happening for the past decade.
Braves fan here and same.
As a giants fan the dodgers are like the packers of the MLB choking in the playoffs when it mattered the most. It makes sense.
Not to worry! They will always be competitive as they can keep buying players =).
@@lbi3447 Hey at least the Braves won in an actual season
@@rorymcneely324 ehh your comments don’t faze me lol. I’m a fan of the falcons and the ducks. I know all about choke jobs. 😁
I agree, as a Dodger fan they need to win a WS in a 162 game season to legitimise their status as one of the all time great teams.
They are only good for 60 games and a few playoff games. Proved that past year.
@@kendallevans4079 ??? so 111 games is only 60 games?
Might as well have been 60 if you don't win it all nothing else matters
As a Giants fan, I have been saying the same thing for two years and hope to say it each year for the remainder of my lifetime.
Wont happen
Payroll is a very good predictor of "making the playoffs" but not so great at predicting winning the World Series. The Dodgers are a great example. A really strong roster wins a lot of games across 162 games, but against another strong team in a short series (even a seven game series is a pretty small sample), there is a lot that can happen either way. Winning takes a great team, momentum, and some luck.
Yeah, the old Yankee formula of buying championships is no longer working. Even for them. They never stopped spending. It buys a playoff spot but like you said, but a world series ring is just an incredibly hard thing to manufacture.
@@timotmon There’s two ways to really go about it. With the Yankees, they’re obviously still buying the best players and expecting them to win, but they’re always at least a little strategic with it. For example, they needed a first baseman, so they buy Anthony Rizzo. Even if teams like the Angels are showing that you can’t only buy championships, doing so in certain ways is still working for the Yankees, and that’s why they still claimed the AL East. There’s just one problem: they’re not top of the AL. And it’s because the Astros are just doing more with less. Love them or hate them, the current Astros are the perfect evolution of the sabremetric system: minimal spending coupled with aggressive talent and a deep farm system, plus a few long-term talents like Jose Altuve and Alex Bregman for good measure and exposure. Meanwhile, the Yankees are so deadset on big contracts that they haven’t noticed the team falter in non-slugging hits (it’s absolutely hilarious that they failed to get a 3000 hit club member until AFTER the Astros did, and Craig Biggio only played with the NL Astros), OR realized that their bullpen is incredibly faulty. It’s why the Astros pummel them both in regular season record and the actual games (remember this year’s no-hitter?), and why if the Yankees win today, they don’t stand a chance (the Guardians actually might though).
This brings us to the Dodgers, who really seem to be going for the perfect marriage of the two. There are a ton of big names and big contracts for them, but each seems calibrated to getting more wins. We can’t really know why they don’t go all the way. Dodgers fans seem keen on blaming Dave Roberts for not managing them properly, but I think a bigger problem is simply that the time of big superstars cruising the team to victory just doesn’t work in baseball as well as it used to. It works great in other sports: the Bulls and Cavaliers are nothing without Michael Jordan and LeBron James, and Tom Brady leaving the Patriots immediately caused them to suck. But the game of baseball has gone beyond that, and all teams need to accept that just like the Astros, Mariners, Braves, etc. did.

@@Gemnist98 I agree with most of this. I'm just going to nit pick one tiny detail because I live in Orange County about 40 min from Angels stadium. Arte Moreno's ultimate goal has never been about winning a championship. Winning one would have been a nice by-product but Arte is only interested in having marketable players to sell tickets and to increase the valuation of his "product". When he sells this team shortly, he'll have made a over a billion dollars. That's what this billboard sign marketer has ever cared about.. winning a WS? Yeah that would have been cool, he would have certainly liked it and would have certainly padded himself on the back.. he may even lied to himself, but it was never about that.
The Giants know how hard it was to win 3 rings in 5 years. But they didn't have Kershaw so they did what they could. Pitcher of this generation.
I remember that interview when Dave Roberts said that. I laughed very hard once I heard that clip. That was the last thing they needed, as a team. A manager who also thought it was going to be a cakewalk going into October to win an actual championship. Always makes me laugh to see the same people who boast about having the best fanbase, because they fill out their stadium in a huge market, where everyone who has money will buy tickets to fill sections, and yada yada yada money money money. This is why we laugh at you guys. You are the Dallas Cowboys of the MLB.

Multiple All stars on one team
Multiple Cy young winners on one team
A manager who should've been gone years ago if it wasn't for a covid title gotten cocky in the beginning of the season
No wonder people have no sympathy for this team
Roberts ruined it. If Phillips comes in instead of the wild Vesia who only throw strikes on 2-0 counts, we would have had a much better shot at getting out of that inning

I knew this video was coming and I can’t argue with any of your points. You hit the nail on the head with just about everything. The closest this team can be compared to is the Braves of the 90s and until Roberts and his analytics get out of the postseason, we are not winning a full season title
They seem to lack those one or two "horses" that have an extra gear in the postseason, just like the '90s Braves.
The Braves made more World Series appearances than the Dodgers have and 1995 is much more legitimate than 2020. The Braves had the potential to win more for sure...but the Dodgers have been worse than the '90s Braves.

First time all season they took the dodgers best punch and didn't crumble. Set the tone for the rest of the series.
As a San Francisco Giants fan I can honestly say I envy the deep pockets of teams like the Mets, Dodgers, Yankees, Phillies, and Padres. (Teams with the highest payrolls 1 thru 5 in MLB) while the G-Men are ranked 13th overall. I hope the Giants make some serious moves in the offseason otherwise they're going to have another .500 season if not worse having to compete with the Dodgers and the Padres.

i am a red sox fan but that is a season even though it was short. But thats no ones fault except the people that created covid
The great Mets announcer Bob Murphy use to say this many times through out his career. "Baseball is a game of who's hot and who's not."
That's what analytics does. It convinces you that a pitcher who threw 5 scoreless innings shouldn't go out for the 6th inning. Dodgers deserved to go down in flames. Anybody can see the front office is dictating a lot of these horrible in-game decisions.
I agree. Friedman and his preplanning post season games has to go and Roberts for sticking to the script as well
He did what Cash did with Snell. If Cash hadn’t pulled him, it most likely would’ve been a game 7 between Buehler and Morton
@@Wolf-wc1js Snell was dealing, Anderson wasn’t lights out but I think you let him out there to face atleast 2 more batters and if he’s good let him try to get the last out. But I just think they knew what they wanted to do. 5 innings and bullpen
@@J_R15 yeah he wasn’t lights out like Snell but he had a better outing through 5 innings than Urias and Kershaw in the same time. Over reliance on the pen was an issue too and then rushing both Almonte and Vesia was another issue
As a Dodger fan, probably I won't watch the rest of the post season, I don't care who wins at this point, I'm just too angry to watch any game
111 wins down the drain, as you said, the frustration and anger cannot be described
You should be used to it by now. Also, I don’t blame you for not wanting to watch but as a Padres fan who has watched all the postseasons, that’s weak.
BTW, the Astros won the 2022 World Series
The recurring theme in October is that it doesn’t matter who you play, it’s when you play them
This is the reason why the Dodgers are excused from not building a true dynasty (like the late '90s Yankees). With that said, they are not excused from choking every single year. They should have at least two legitimate championships in the last 10 years but they have zero because they clearly cannot handle the pressure of October.
1) No matter the playoff format, upsets happen(even when there was only the World Series)
2) The more playoff rounds, the possibility a superior team can lose increases
3) I recall Billy Beane( Oakland's " Moneyball " guy) saying(paraphrase): " My S#!T doesn't work in the playoffs " LA, being into extreme analytics(analytics are the brother of " Moneyball "), may be learning this lesson.
4) Regular season success DOESN'T guarantee playoff success(ask the 1990s-mid2000s Atlanta Braves)
5)Sometimes you're just lucky or unlucky
6)The idea of being " clutch ", or " a gamer " may be in play
I don't know about the whole "clutch" or "gamer" thing. But the LA Times just ran a story that included a link to a study about pro sports playoffs. The gist of the study is that the best team in the NBA playoffs advances about 80 percent of the time, but that percentage is considerably lower in MLB, the NHL, and the NFL. In football it's because the playoffs are one-and-done. In the NHL it's because a hot goalie can have such a huge impact over a small sample of games. And in baseball it's because that's the sport that already has the smallest gap in winning percentage between the best teams and the worst. So the guys who wrote the study tried to figure out how many games each sport would play in a playoff round to match the NBA in having the better team win 80 percent of the time.
I didn't read the whole study, but the conclusions were that the NFL would have to play best of 11, the NHL best of 51, and MLB best of 75 to reach a point where the better team advanced 80 percent of the time. And even after a best of 75, still about 1 of every 5 lower seeds would win.
So while I, as a Giants fan, am thrilled to see Dodger tears...they didn't choke. They haven't been choking. The postseason really is a crap shoot. The Dodgers often come in well rested because they've clinched their division, and they end up playing a team that has been fighting to the end. Turns out this doesn't exhaust teams the way we might think - at least not in the first round.
And there are worse things to be than the '90s Braves. Far worse things.
@@camicawber Good point about home field, that is certainly a factor.
The minute we lost Buehler I started to have a bad feeling, but the way we ended the regular season was also very telling... it seems as soon as we won the division the fire got put out

Baseball is all about who gets hot at the right time. Look at the Braves from last year to this year. Last year, the Braves had a lackluster regular season, but did enough to make playoffs. They ended up playing their best baseball all year in October and rode that momentum to a WS title. This year, the Braves had a much better regular season than last year, but went cold once the playoffs started and are gone home early.
Both Braves and Mets went cold basically at the end of the regular season and still had hard time picking the momentum back again. Thats what all sports do, being hot at the right time. Olympics participants condition themselves to the peak in summer as well, despite how bad their performances are in the spring
The problem with the Dodgers is that the upper management and Dave Roberts are too concerned about match-ups instead of letting the game take its course. Bob Melvin out-managed Dave Roberts because Melvin lets the game play out. He reacts to the game rather than trying to make something happen. I was waiting for this video!!! Thank you for posting this! As a Die Hard Dodger fan, it was a disappointing ending along with season due to the fact that they were favored to win it all, won 111 games and dominated the entire season only to go down to the Padres. So many things went wrong for the Dodgers this postseason. So 111 Win season doesn’t mean a thing to me.
Dodgers: "You don't understand! Those Padres cheated! That's why they beat us, it's because they cheated! Nobody can beat us without cheating! Nobody! We are the freaking Dodgers and we are the Gods of baseball, the only way any team can ever beat us is by cheating! We don't ever lose games, we only get cheated out of wins that are rightfully ours from the very get go!"
Media darlings/hype all year. Go spend that.
I wouldn't say the Dodgers choked but rather that the Padres just played amazing. That team is no joke and built to be able to beat anyone. Give them the credit they deserve.
Star Wars music modulation in the background. Avoids copyright infringement. Smart
That's just it, Dodgers never have to struggle and learn how to fight for a win. They always put so much importance on their regular season record and take for granted the post season wins will come as easily as regular season wins. Egos always get the best of them. Dave Roberts was the only one who took the Padres seriously, you could hear it in his voice and words he used in his pre-series NLDS interview.
Struggle? What about last year?
Wasn’t Dave the one that guaranteed as championship before the year began?
@@ChiefBlue4298 He absolutely did and said to put it on the record. Fast forward to the NLDS pre-series interview and he's whistling a different tune. 😂
Check out Freddie Freeman's interview too because that is the Dodger curse right there.
That's all I'm saying 🤣
Seemed like Julio Urias was the only one that showed up in the playoffs🔥
same with T. Anderson but dave pulled him in the 5th 🙄
Been a Dodger fan since 1972, when I went to my first game at 8 years old. Dave Roberts is a World Series killer.
Or hero if you are a Red Sox fan.
I know u probably don’t watch padres baseball that much but the “Crone Zone” isn’t a particular zone in the strike zone. It’s when he hits bombs into left field and when he makes good plays at second
I'm happy the Padres broke through.
As for the Dodgers, you can't spell "collapse" without L-A
This has been a great postseason for the underdogs.
BTW Dodgers, the 2001 Mariners say "hello".
Ask the 1990s-mid2000s Atlanta teams about that...
Say what hello? Your team just got swept by the Astros, at least win a game before you talk.
@@michaelbaucom4019 Atlanta won a much more legitimate title than these Dodgers have and Atlanta made more World Series appearances as well. They had tougher competition in the '90s. Three of Atlanta's four World Series losses came against the Blue Jays, who won back-to-back titles, and the Yankees, who won four titles in five years. The Dodgers are mostly losing to teams that haven't been consistently making World Series runs...Mets, Cubs, Nationals, Braves, Padres...
@@87Khein still only one World Series in all those years, your pleading doesn't change that...excuses are for losers
As a Dodger fan, this season was super disappointing and draining to see it come to an end like that. The team needs a lot despite being the “best team” in the league.. Im not saying we need any other super stars but we need players with grit and ones who show some emotion. That dugout seemed so boring this postseason, it was lifeless at times. Apparently we also need some contact hitters who can put the ball in play as well because batting like .100 with RISP is ridiculously sad. All in all, congrats to the Padres forreal. Little brother no longer & they’re only gonna get better, so step it up Dodgers, fuck.
We need....what position do you play loser?

Ooof, I knew it was a matter of time before this came out. Here we go.
Been waiting for this one!💪
I love how everyone, including iTalk Studios in this very video, continue to downplay the Padres and their success. Please, by all means, don't stop now! This only makes every win all the more sweet!
Congrats, but the Padres shouldn’t have won.
It was the Dodger’s game to lose, and they did.
This makes the loss even worse, however you want to look at it.
Padres stadium North now
@@lightgrove7751 Spoken like a true fan....of your team and not the sport. Dodger fan thought they were going to face the Mets in the NLDS......when that didn't happen you all started salivating at the chance to whoop up on the Padres.....a team that the Dodgres OWNED in 2022 over 19 games....a division rival 120 miles to the south. Padres had a -62 run differential against the Dodgers in 2022.
This is why the playoff games exist.....no matter how many wins....how many runs they scored....who they beat up on during regular season....still have to beat the best teams to get that ring. MLB is the longest running professional sport going almost 8 months when counting spring training and playoffs so I feel that pain with you to have your team be so dominant only to get knocked out.

@@lightgrove7751 Dodgers are a regular season team.. enough with excuses.. The sf giants in the past decade were built for playoffs and not regular season.. The Padres deserve all the credit!!!!
The Dodgers have only 4 really dangerous hitters! Also did not have enough starting pitching after Walker Buehler went down! Next year the Dodgers better do a hell of a lot more at the trade deadline 🙄
No, we need to give all the young bats room to run, and not constantly yank them around by playing them at 4 different positions in a month. It took like 3 years to get Gavin Lux going; if they mess up Rios, Vargas, Outman, Pages et. al. that way I'm gonna scream.
The Dodgers lost but they where a single clutch base hit from winning the final 3 games. I enjoyed the season no matter what happened at the end.
As a Padres fan, It’s true abt the Padres dodgers rivalry, because my parents went to the Padres vs dodgers post season game and everyone was chanting beat LA, well it did happen finally. That was game 3. But when w splayed the Phillis everything went down hill, and welp we lost.

This has to be one of the toughest seasons I've had as a Dodgers fan. To have 111 wins and come up short like this is just frustrating. Honestly, we need a complete change of perspective. It's clear that Dave's approach isn't working. This analytics mindset isn't going to win us a ring. This team keeps trying to plug and play new players into the system but fail to realize the system is the problem. Hell, we need to just suck for half the season and barely win 90 games to sneak into the playoffs off a hot second half. That seems the be the key to success lately lol.
Our title is as legit as any other (if it wasn't, why did your team compete for it if it was "illegitimate"?), but I agree that we won't have full satisfaction until we win one in a 162 game season.
2020 is not as legit as any other title. It was 37 percent of a full season with neutral postseason sites and basically no fans. No one is suggesting that the Dodgers shouldn't have tried to win...but any team that won that year was not going to be viewed the same as all of the other World Series winners. The fact that they haven't won a title in a full season during this run just proves the narrative to be correct. The Dodgers can't win a real championship in this era.
Shut up dude lol. Yall can't win shit unless the season is shortened.
Literally no one feels bad for you lol.
no team competed for the title. it was a covid season, many teams played for living, living for broadcasting, for personnel, for anyone or any job related to this industry so they can have a job and get paid. People knew situations will be back to normal the next season when vaccination covered so they kept their tempo as they have been like every year, didnt want to change. Only dodgers fans really took micky mouse seriously
that title* will never been seen as legitimate lol.
Makes us Mets Fans feel a little better. Not what I was expecting from the top teams in NL postseason at all.
TYVM for keeping the content at or under 10 minutes 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👍👍👍👍👍👍👍💯
Not surprised that they bottled it again 🤷🏾
There needs to be a science behind what happened to Cody....he just fell off the map so hard. Like what happened
It looks like he tinkered with his swing too much, and something just went wrong; it was always long and complicated, and whatever kismet he had in 2019 just got discombobulated.

To be fair the NL west always has only one competitive team. That’s how they pump out so many wins and breeze through the seasons. The Padres made huge moves and figured it out towards the end of the season. Hats off to them.
2021 had two teams in the NL West win over 105 games
@@EndAllWeebs Right. The dodgers and Giants, and the year someone else was competitive. They didn’t clinch.

It is rarely the case that the best regular season team wins the series. It amazes me every year how many people forget that. In fact this holds true in football and hockey as well.
Most baseball fans know by now dodgers past October are nothing special. They can rack 140 wins in the regular season, but once the post season starts they are just another wild card level team lol

The hilarious part is how people say it doesn’t matter what you do in the regular season only to disregard what they did in the postseason of 2020 and only focus on the regular season. We’ll never live it down unfortunately.
Great video bud, well done 👍
As a 50 year Dodger fan, I know a great season doesn't have to nessasarily end in a Championship.
There was a lot to cheer for, we set a Franchise record and had the best National league record since 1909. 4 100 wins seasons in 6 years has never happened to this franchise and we got to see it.
We lived through the McCrook ownership where he was so cheap our big off season move involved signing Jaime Carrol. He stole hundreds of millions from the franchise and we still managed to see the post season in some form.
We lived through watching our real rivals win 3 World Series while we were in the late stages of a 32 year drought.
Everybody says the regular season doesn't mean a thing, it's what you do in the playoffs that matter.
I have read remarks from Padre fans calling the 2020 championship a Mickey Mouse Championship because it's was only 60 game season.
Well as they have now witnessed finishing 23 games back didn't mean anything because it's what you do in the playoffs that matter.
Well in 2020 we beat the shit out of everybody in the playoffs and took our ring. The same ring that has eluded them since they became a franchise.
Keep your heads up high Dodger fans, you cheer for an elite team with a storied history that goes back 138 years.
We don't retire a players number because they hit walkoff home run in the playoffs or a pitcher with a losing record because he won a Cy Young award that's Bush League expansion Team B.S.
We don't restrict ticket sales to opposing fans who want to root for their team.
The Dodgers have given far more joy to me than heartache
May there be Dodger baseball Forever.
Congratulations Padres! Now let’s roll against the Phillies! LFG! ⚡️🇺🇸👍🇺🇸✌️
even the Cubs won a World Series during the "Dodger dynasty years", like you said, funny how baseball can be
I saw a national baseball analyst on TV who prior to starting the second round of the playoffs said the only team he saw no path to be able win their series was the Padres beating the Dodgers. He said it just cannot happen. This run by the Dodgers is very similar to the Braves of the 1990s. The post season even prior to when divisional play started in 1969 and they only went straight to the world series without playoffs unless there was a tie for first place, there have always been big hitters who struggle and mediocre hitters who excel during the pressure of post season. It just makes it a lot of fun not knowing what will happen until the games are played. Congrutlations to the Padres. Having two very good starters like the Phillies has always helped in a short series. The Padres apparently just did the impossible.
Thank God we don't need to see these Dodger arrogant SOB's anymore. God is good.

Dodgers don't have Trevor Bauer, and they fall short. Padres don't have Tatis Jr, and they gain success. Noice
They had a chance at the trade deadline to get a bonafide closer. This series exposed the weakness of Dave Roberts on how he manages his pitchers. For example, Tyler Anderson got pulled in the 4th game because....?
The ironic thing is, they had a pitcher right under their noses who would have made a great closer converted from being a starter in Trevor Bauer, but the Dodgers didn't go to bat for him and have his back when he was suspended for absolutely no valid reason, it turned out.
Love the Dodgers doing Dodger things in the playoffs. High payroll, best talent, best pitcher of this generation and one title .

You don't wanna mention Kahnle threw like 12 innings the whole year and dave decided he was the best option when he was never even an option that got us to 111 wins during the entire season. That decision ruined everything.
Just like Daves decision to put Darvish in for game 7 in 2017 after getting owned in his first start. When the manager makes decisions like that that dont even give your team a chance to win you will NEVER win. Those things matter. Those things are out of the players hands.
