Story: Players enter fantastical free-roaming 3D environments from Harry's world. Players become Harry Potter and delve not only into Harry's world, but also into his personality, via an internal "voice." Conversing with unique characters like Moaning Myrtle, shopping in Diagon Alley, and exploring the convoluted corridors of Hogwarts, players make crucial and independent decisions within Harry's world. Additionally, Harry can, of course, cast spells against foes - but these spells must be perfectly executed, or they could be miscast with humorous or critical consequences! Mini-games within levels can be revisited, so players can help Mrs. Weasley with "de-gnoming" her garden, challenge other students in Professor Lockhart's Dueling Club, or complete other mini-games again and again.

Question: how does one play this game on Windows 8 / 10 ?
Which Windows version did you use?
I'm confused what happen during the rictusempra thing that made you want to kill yourself?

Imagine being a Slytherin and having to go through a deadly obstacle course just to go to bed.
Imagine having to go thought a deadly obstacle to go to the bathroom!!!
@Terry Fedora Maybe that's why Slytherins are so cruel--they resent the other houses for having a short, straightforward passage to bed, and they have to go through an entire obstacle course!
Actually that sounds genuinely like something Salazar Slytherin would do to test the worthiness of prospective Slytherin pupils lol.
Moooom, can I switch houses? The Wood Druids keep pelting me when I'm in the bathroom!
@@SarastistheSerpent This is my new headcanon.
If they re-mastered this game...
Just take my money
They'd probably choose the console version over this one sadly.
Remaster the first three
Agree. As long as they keep it ''pure''
Elijah Jarman yes the true great ones chamber being the best
Fran Navarro -Efejota- I like consoles
It’s warming my heart to see how many others are so happy and nostalgic to see these games being played. I never knew so many people loved these Harry Potter PC games as much as I did!!!
I wish they were available on Steam and GOG...
@@saberiandream316 There's...other ways of getting a game... ;)
@@applescruff1969 While true, you need to be tech savvy to know how to jigger up an old game, which I'm not.
As an example, I bought Carmen Sandiego's Great Chase Through Time AND The Magic School Bus Explores the Ocean, and while I could get SimTown to work with compatibility mode, the same thing doesn't work with those other games.
What I like about GOG and Steam is they have it all prepped for you for ease of access. Not that it always works, though, because when I tried to play The Master Chief Collection, it said something about cooking or whatever.
But it's still the best way for retro gamers in the 21st century.

Harry: *I must keep calm... I can't wake up Goyle!"
Harry, one second later: This is a lot harder than I expected, ALOHOMORA!
Interestingly, in the game files there are voice clips that suggest that at some point you had to get to Goyle without waking him up.
"I need to sneak up to Goyle and pluck a hair without him waking up. I better avoid those pigs; if they squeal, Goyle'll wake up for sure!"
Lol
He needs to sort out his priorities.
The thing I loved about this game is that, while obviously I LOVED the movies, it just felt so much more whimsical and true to the book world, like there was so much more color and more creatures and all of the crazy beans and everything were a perfect touch. Absolutely loved this game.
Draco: Like our new brooms? Perhaps someday Gryffindor will be able to afford new brooms.

One of my all time favorite games of my childhood. The first two harry potter games had something "magical" about them. You really brought me into nostalgia. I think I'm going to buy them again.
That's a good idea. I love these games as well. The third one is also very good :)
ToughGamingGuy it was alright, didn't like it as much as the first two but it was enjoyable. After that, though, they became crap.
whats your opinion about the 4 other versions of the first 2 games? the gbc versions, gba, ps1 and ps2 (same as xbox/gamecube)
I really liked the game boy colour ones. They had a pretty good rpg feel to them Hogwarts was also pretty big and done well I think.
That's exactly how I feel about them. The first two games have an indescribable sense of immersion and atmosphere.
im 24 and i watched this on a saturday night slightly drunk slightly ill but the magic(memories) are beyond humanly suitable

My childhood. I cannot forget the tingling sensation of pleasure in my spine wandering around the empty classrooms, the greenhouse and the claustophobic yet warm and cosy castle :)
Bingo, the game makes it feel as though you live there yourself.
This and Sorcerers Stone are legit my whole childhood... crazy too see how many people can relate. I owe a lot of my curiosity and imagination to these games. Thank you HP for everything

The time stamp marks the place where cutscene ends and gameplay begins. For example, where I say bean bonus room, it actually means where Harry was let out of the lesson. Vallelly V if you just had one more second😭
Did they cut out the on-screen McGonagle/Snape sex scene?
yeeehaw!
When I was a kid I used to play this all the time but would never finish the game to the end. I was 10. Now I’m 24 and my childhood is finally complete because I’ve see the end now. Thank you so much for this magical comeback!⚡️✨
Fun fact: the composer for this game is Jeremy Soule, the same guy who did the music for The Elder Scrolls games.
This is a pretty cool fact that I didn't know
interesting
Also Dungeon Siege and Neverwinter Nights.
Even funner fact : Jeremy Soule had not heard John Williams score for the movie before he made the soundtrack for the Philosophers stone game.
I hear he even helped make the music for KOTOR 2 alongside Mark Griskey. Explains so much, tbh, about why I loved the atmosphere that game had.
I always loved the freedom in this game as compared to the first one. You could wander around wherever you wanted in the castle and outside, and unlock more things as you learned more spells!
99miyah I totally agree. I almost wonder if they made more of an effort on this one to give the player more to do once the game is done. They had the foundation of the first game to work off of so they focused their energy on redesigning the layout of the school and filling it with more places to explore as well. There are so many similarities between the two but the 2nd one just offers so much more in terms of replayability.
The PS2 version did even better job on this, it blew me away how you could just fly with the broom and roam around
@@nesfan8 ps2 version is the best for sure.
That's what I loved about this game too. I loved the first game, but exploring the castle and finding secrets in this game was just so fun.
I actually like the first better because it feels more contained yet bigger. By making Hogwarts open, this made the school feel really small. Plus, I feel more nostalgic for the first
Man, this game. So many happy memories playing it. The sheer joy of unlocking the bean room, accidentally discovering a new hidden area, completing a spell challenge and remembering all the places around the castle where you can use that spell. However, I remember being extremely frightened of the imps in the Spongify challenge. Took me ages to get past them the first time.
I was terrified of the gnomes
@@Extremely_Shawol OMG thank goodness I'm not the only one lmao!!! As a kid I literally got shaky knees from the first encounter - idk why, as they're supposed to feel goofy and stupid, unthreatening etc
@@Li_Tobler I think it's because of the noises they make and the fact that they don't have eyes... I still think they're creppy tbh 😂
I had to get my dad to beat all the sections with those little goblins because I was too young to understand how to beat it and too scared to play it calmly haha
10:56
"I hope Ron didn't get lost," Harry thought as he went gallivanting off in the wrong direction completely.
4:31:46 used to always creep me the hell out, with the unsettling music and how the castle is suddenly mostly empty...
I swear that is the music from Rosemary’s Baby when she has that fever dream, while being ***** by the devil.
true on so many levels... felt like the basilisk was going to attack me
I really love the first two HP games. There was something about them both that just seemed to get lost with the later games. I could play the first two over and over again, always finding joy and a sense of warmth as I played while the others... not so much. The magic wasn't there as much, at least not for me. Of the first two HP games, this one was my absolute favourite. I could play it over and over again without getting bored.
@yves eloi I loved all 3 pc versions because of their creative secrets. HP1 was one story line with crazy secrets you can't find after you continue the story. HP2 you have more open world options and you can discover secrets you couldn't discover because of missing spells and HP3 you have also great secrets with fred n george
I loved playing both of these but the second one (this one) was *clearly* the best, in my opinion.
@yves eloi I only played the PS2 version of PofA. For what I've seen, there are totally different to each other.
Same. This was the best HP game for me.

Oh man, the sound effects, the soundtrack, the graphics... So nostalgic. It's ridiculous how powerful nostalgia is
Oh man, the nostalgia, it's one of the games of my childhood. I played this game before I had an internet connection. I beat it quite a few times too. To this day, the Harry Potter franchise has a special place in my heart. The books, the movies and the games, I loved all of it.
I can't emphasize enough how good the soundtrack in the first 3 Potter games were! These games would not be even close to being as enjoyable if they didn't have their phenomenal soundtrack. It gives these games an atmosphere that is still appealing today
I agree. The soundtracks were *excellent* and *memorable* , especially for PC games.
This one was done by Jeremy Soule, the guy who does the Elder Scrolls games. Weirdly enough some of the tracks in this game are almost reminiscent of Morrowind.
Omg this nearly made me cry! The childhood memories of playing this with my older brother when i was young... brought back so many good memories my god... Cant believe how realistic this was for a 5-7 year old kid, probably the best games ive ever played the 3 first ones... Thanks for uploading it means so much more than you can imagine! This is my childhood summer and winter breaks all in one game, unbelievable how i remember all the small details of the game aswell
Honestly, for 2002, the graphics aren't bad at all. And a 6 hour story isn't too bad either. Of course, both are at best sub-par today, but again, this is 2002
Some guy from Siwa its pretty bad😂
Zack _ Isaak yea nowadays if they released this it would be pretty bad but this is a game that’s 17 years old.
6 hours is fine today - if it’s a quality story. It’s better than a 30 hour crap story.
No wonder, it's the Unreal Engine, one of the best engines in terms of graphics these days.
I just don't know if it already belonged to the best engines back then...
6 hours is honestly phenomenal for a 2002's PC Game targeted at small kids.
There are some modern games with that same length.

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh.
i was actually terrefied of some parts in this game, like the wall part or every other part where it plays the creepy suspense music. scared the shit out of me when i was a kid
when i was abou 6,7 i used to shit my pants almost when i saw the gnomes
Same!
Glad it's not just me lol. The moment where they zoom in on 'Her Skeleton will lie in the Chamber forever' with that creepy music is so unsettling.
I couldn't finish the first hour of the game because I was so scared when I was a kid but when I found the game again I finished it but still terrified of the spiderlevel

So is no one is going to comment on how Harry has duct tape with glasses drawn on it?
i came here just to see if someone had the urge to mention it
Lmfao seriously
I saw that actually.
It's a graphical glitch. I noticed it quite a bit when I used to play the game as well
@@shogun_e1337 Yeah, it's definitely a glitch. It wasn't there when I first played it as a kid (and with a budget PC iirc, since the game ran pretty slow), but it came up when I played it on my laptop years later. I think it might be something with the graphics cards/drivers upon starting up the game (being newer/different from the cards/drivers from back then). But as shown in the video, it always fixes itself once you go into another area/chapter, and the game runs pretty smoothly and consistently (best part: no in-game clock speedups, since that doesn't seem to be tied to a specific FPS) so it was a minor concern for me.
Is it weird that I like to fall asleep listening to these playthroughs? The music, the sounds, the dialogue... It all brings me back to a carefree time of video games and happiness. Thanks for these videos, they're important to me.
@reeta It is not weird, at all, makes perfect sense!
Jesus. For so many years, I thought this game was just a dream. I remembered playing the PS2 and even PS1 versions, but in the back of my mind I always felt there was another, and I especially remembered the challenge stars and the rictesempra challenge. God, the nostalgia is so strong it burns right now.
The part where Filch appears when the vase gets knocked over always used to make me jump
I just decided I'm gonna quit my job and play these games (1 and 2) nonstop like I'm 12 again, and only when I finish them, only then, I will care about the world again.
Edit: I actually ended up quitting my job on December 31st. Best decision ever (it was a shit job, extremely stressful) I plan on playing HP 1 in a few days ^^
lol. this has been me. I busted out the old PC and have been playing all overr again. the muscle memory... omgeeee i literally go all the way back!

@@arnoldheal6706 I wish I knew.
Well the PS 1 Edition was more cooler and the Bossfight was much harder and epic than the Ps2 Edition and the death of Tom Riddle in this game is so redicolous the snake is falling at the dairy man thats so dump ind the PS 1 version it was like in the the film and book
The music,The style,The looks,Everything.. This game is so good. I love it SO much. This game holds up so well by todays standards
3:46:06 Disgusting noises of Goyle.
He's Cumming😂
This part in the game always scared me when I was young playing this lol.
@@Mr.Eminem You made my day
Hahaha. My parents would here my brother and I play this back in the day, and the sound he makes when he jumps and lands “herr oooo”
I deliberately made him die/get injured just to hear his ridiculous noises.
17:05 "Its good to see you again, Harry!" even though it was not even him talking to the Fat Lady and the two others there are like 'wow ok'.
If you thought Hogwarts was a dangerous place in the books and in the movies, check out the lessons the kids have to go through in the Harry Potter games, lol.
Sometimes I wonder here if the teachers are secret deatheaters. They always pick Harry to do these deadly challenges, whilst everyone else stays snug and safe in their classrooms.
@@SuperTed19021 Maybe they're jealous Harry survived a killing curse--as a newborn, no less. So they're trying to secretly kill him themselves.
very underrated, but first 3 games of the series were amazing on pc and ps
I love how when Goyle is casting spells he just sounds like a dopey boy, and then when he's climbing on things, he sounds like a creepy old man taking a crap
“Heh errr” 😂
Yup lol
Watch your language
Seeing gameplay of this takes me back. My daughter loved it and I got it for her in 2002 and we played it thru a bunch of times.
45:15 Shagging a crab, are you, Mr Potter?
this is one of the best pc games ever. They should definitely remaster this piece of art
@ 1:04:11 RIP little spider
45:50 trying to die - fire tortoise im just gonna shoot flames to the side
I remember this game! I find myself thinking about it every now and then back when things were much more simple.
5:21:39 NNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooo
Pyrrha Nikos 😂😂😂😂😂
His mouth movement does NOT match that sound haha
@@potato_x69 Yeah haha and then they keep bobbing their heads for about 5 seconds after they've stopped talking
🤫😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Yes.

What you hear when you first arrive in hell
Thought they were about to eat him alive lol
I always watched the zap those pigs when I was first playing this. Got p***ed off when nothing happened.
@1:54:11
Little doxie just minding his business, being a cute lil shit.
Harry Potter: I'm about to mess up this doxie's whole career.
I remember the big room at 5:04:20 was so hard for me, i died there at least 10 times. Now that i replayed it, i can't believe it was actually that easy...
3:40:08 wow polyjuice potion changes robe colours as well ✨✨
It's magic bruh :)
This was a huge improvement from the first game!
Yeah I agree, the duelling and open world is great. And the house cup ceremony. The only thing they ruined though was Quidditch and the method of learning new spells. Quidditch you were completely left to your own devices in the first game and you could fly wherever you wanted, and catching the snitch was a bit of a challenge. But in this game your automatically following the snitch and all you've got to do is hit your opponent so they don't catch the snitch before you do. And with learning the new spells you had to go over the symbol with the mouse which was so much better than using the keys. But aside from that, this game is great! I always go back to both of them
Same here!
These were amazing. I remember this was the era of PC games being not only highly different but also highly superior to their console counterparts.
This game is an absolute gem beyond all video games out there.
Check out my other Harry Potter game walkthroughs as well!

I found where you missed the challenge star from the scourge challenge chamber. YOu beat peeves and unlocked the place but didn't go behind the balcony. around the 1:19:00 mark. Still love the gameplay though and the fact that you were nice enough to leave it commentary free.
I see the all six hours ❤❤❤
Dude this game was my childhood, so glad I found a full play through! Brings me back :)
2:38:25 FYI for anyone still playing this, if you don't cut the stems on the mushrooms, the gnomes will convert them to beans for you! that's why the gnomes are always there
you can just farm beans with duelling later
I loved this game! But as a kid the gnomes terrified me. Just something about the way they looked, sounded, and stole my jelly beans. In fact I think they're still a bit anxiety provoking
4:58:23 when you dress up as harry for halloween on a budget
Freaky Fairy 😂😂😂
David Muir from ABC World News Tonight With David Muir would be a great choice to dress up as Harry Potter. Thumbs up if you agree with my idea. I'd be terrific as Hope Estrella Feelgood-Potter.
haha lol
Freaky Fairy that's just a glitch.
Look at 00:33
"Does this painting hide something?, Does this painting hide something?, Does this painting hide something?, Does this painting hide something?"
1:57:57 the noise from the gnome then when he is thrown in the hole after that always made me laugh 😂
ahhh the memories... never forget the big Hogwarts doors opening reveling a completely flat, 2D image of the inside of Hogwarts and then NPC Ron or Hermione sliding away @ 12:29
