- This was my first 14er in Colorado and it was a great experience, even with all the people there, it was a great way to start off what I'm hoping will be the first of many 14ers here in Colorado.

Jeez, can't believe how many cars are there at 5:30 AM. Guess people plan for a big day. Funny when I think of 14ks I expect rocky snow right off the back but it looked like a lovely meadow climb for much of the way. Lots of people for sure, definitely a good one to start at 2 AM, haha.
There's plenty more 14ers, most are probably what you imagine but then a few are more popular thus making them a bit more "commercialized", it's still epically beautiful which is why everyone goes there. Might have to start these bad boys at 2 lol

I'm planning to do Bierstadt with my boys on July 30th weather permitting. are there any permits needed for parking? Looks as though you just park at the back of the line wherever that is when you get there? We'll be staying in Winter Park and plan on being to the mountain by 5
Is that just because it’s a Saturday why it’s so crowded or is it like that every day?
That's definitely one reason, other reasons, it's relatively close to Denver, and 3rd is that it was perfect weather that day. I don't think if you go on a random Wednesday you'll see even half the traffic.
