Anti TPO& Anti Tg are antibodies produced by the immune system. Antibodies are produced when our body is invaded by any foreign body. In autoimmune disorders like hashimotos and graves, own thyroid tissue will be mistakenly identified as foreign and self destruction of the thyroid gland occurs.
Autoimmune Disorders of Thyroid
1. Hashimotos Thyroiditis
2. Graves Disease
Hashimotos is the most common cause of hypothyroidism in iodine sufficient regions of the world. Antibodies are predominantly positive in the Hashimotos are
• Anti TPO ( Anti Thyroid Peroxidase/ Anti microsomal antibodies)
• Anti Tg ( Anti Thyroglobulin Antibodies)
Graves Disease has a predominany hyperthyroid symptoms in
• Anti TPO
• Anti TSH R Ab
• TSI ( Thyroid Stimulating Immunoglobulin )
Symtoms of Hypothyroidism include
• Weight gain
• Fatigue
• Dry skin
• Hair loss
• Intolerance to cold
• Constipation
Symptoms of Hyperthyroidism include
• Sweating
• Rapid heart rate
• Anxiety
• Tremors
• Fatigue
• Difficulty sleeping
• Sudden weight loss
• Protruding eyes
Normal Range
• Anti TPO : Less than 60 U/mL
• Anti Tg : Less than 60 U/mL
Mild increase in TPO is seen in patients having other autoimmune disorders like Type 1 Diabetes, Rheumatoid Arthritis, pernicious anemia, thyroid cancer and collagen vascular disorders.

Dear sir / madam
Tell about what are the tests of arthritis?
Arthritis can be due to osteoarthritis or Rheumatoid arthritis.
Osteoarthritis is diagnosed on X rays and clinical examination and by ruling out basic rheumatoid arthritic tests
please check our playlist on Rheumatoid Arthritis.

Hi..antithyroid antibody test is same as anti TPO test or both are different?
My thyroid peroxidase antibodies is 124 is it considered high or normal??? And the video is amazing
Ideally 60 U/mL is considered as a normal range . Please check the reference range and units given in ur report . They vary in different parts of the world.

Maternal anti TPO doesn't not have any effect on the baby as per several research studies and as long as your thyroid functionality is normal, u should be fine .

Is it normal??
Bonjour. Ac anti tpo inférieur a 0.8 .normal? Im hyperthyrodie.
Hello.. Hoping of getting a reply. I was diagnosed with hypo thyroidsm in 2010 . Thyroglobulin antibodies were above 3000 and tsh above 100. Now I am on thyronorm medication and all my levels are normal. Should I still be worried about my antibody level..will there be any problem with concieving. Please reply
Antibody levels are just for the sake of diagnosis . They don't play any role in the management . All the matters is your current TSH values . As long they are normal you just continue with the same medication . However periodic monitoring of TSH levels are required ( like once in 6 months ) .

Good morning sir.
I am 28 years old lady.
My TSH is 2.57
and TPO is 75.24
Is my report normal??
TSH levels seem to be fine. Why b did they order TPO at the first place????
My anti tpo 409.1 lU/ml
My anti tpo 409.1 IU/ml normal ????
My T3 - 123.58 ug/dl
T4 - 6.1 ug/mL
TSH - 6.79 uIU/mL
Anti TPO 55.38 IU/mL
U said TPO should be less then 60 but here in reports it’s written as it should be less then 5.61 IU/mL
Plzz explain I’m Soo confused
You have to rely on the value of report, in report if it is written that it is less than 5.61 IU/ml then it is right,,. Because different pathology labs use different units..
Uday Vaniya okay..Thankyou Soo muchh for responding and clearing my doubt..
My advice is that you should repeat all your thyroid tests again from a good, accurate pathology lab & if you are on thyroid medication don't take tablet on the day when you are going to lab for thyroid tests..
Tsh ,t4,t3 normal
But
Tpo 288 and TG 45
TPO levels doesn't say anything about the current status of the thyroid function . It only indicates that there are some antibodies present in you . Which may or may not results in future thyroid disorder.
Dr K MD
It can lead you future thyroid prob
Does high Anti-TG and high -TPO cause a high ANA result?
Individuals with one autoimmune disorder are at risk of developing a second autoimmune disorder. All three of them ANA, Anti TPO and Anti TG are autoimmune antibodies .
Its been observed in several studies that the frequency of this association is more incase with ANA and Thyroid antibodies( Anti TPO& Anti TG). This association is often sequential .
Dr K MD
@@interpretyourlabtests7734 Thank you for your response! Can you recommend what lowers them? Thanks again!

My tpo is 225 nd anti Ig is 20 i had two times miscarriage, is that bcoz of elevated thyroid antibodies
TPO may not be having any direct relation . However the current functional status of thyroid is more responsible . High TSH associated with hypothyroidism can be associated with conception issues. Speak with ur doctor.

Hi sir
Hi Mam
Plz my tests is:
Tsh = 1.74 (0.27--- 5.0)
Ft4 = 15.27 (9 --- 22 )
Antithyroid Ab(TpoAb)= 270.7 ( less then 32 IU/ml)
note that im taking everyday morning( EUTHYROX 100ng)
Plz im 48 years old man and i need ur help
Ur TSH and Ft4 levels are within the range .
This indicates you just need to stick on the current medication of euthyrox.
Dr K MD
Ok thank u
But in this case when could i stop the medicine ?
Looks like ur thyroid has a reduced functionality . Hence u might need to continue the medicine . There may be a occasional change in dose basing on TSH values . Check with ur doctor for any further clarification regarding medicine requirement
Dr K MD
I have only high anti TG. Is that Hashimoto's? (my anti TPO are ok... 33)
Hashimotos can be confirmed only on histopatgology (FNAC ) . Presence if antibodies only indicates the presence of some autoimmune cause. It needs to be confirmed entirely with clinical examination , lab results , FNAC and ultrasound if needed . Please speak with ur doctor regarding the options.
Dr K MD
Do you have any update? I am currently in the same situation

hello sir .mera tsh 2.54 hai
anti th 124.96
tpo . 14.61 hai
kya reports normal hai.
Thyroglobulin antibodies are elevated . However the current TSH levels are fine indicating normal functioning /adequate dose of thyroid if u are using one .
Dr K MD
@@interpretyourlabtests7734 hello sir . no I m not take any medicine.
anti thyroid antibodies over 10000 are they worrysome
Increased anti thyroid antibodies indicates that the disorder is resulted from an auto immune process . The higher the value the higher the correlation with autoimmune disorder .
However treatment is always aimed at controlling your current functional state ( hypothyroidism/ hyperthyroidism ) and never the autoimmune process .
Dr K MD
@@interpretyourlabtests7734 ...why is the treatment aimed at the current functional state instead of healing the autoimmune disorder?
@@Jules-ny8dz Majority of complication of autoimmune thyroid disorders are only due to the funtional state of the thyroid ( Hypothyroid/ Hyperthyroid) . Hence functional state is only targeted .
