  • Time to test the CRF300L Enduro Build! And to do that I've come to Red River off Road park in Muenster Texas. This place is no joke. 2700 acres, most varied terrain in Texas, and former host to Red Bull Last Man Standing. I've been here many times and I can tell you most of the motorcycle you'll see are lightweight enduro mechanics. How will the CRF300L do? Let's find out!

    I used to go there as a kid with my dad on old crf230s. I remember riding all day on the cliffs of the red river and camping all night. Great spot, thanks for taking me back! Ride safe!

    Always fun to see a new upload from you Jake! Bike worked great. Obviously, some of those hills are not really the place for a 300lb motorcycle when you could be riding a 200lb dirt bike, but fun nonetheless. I like my 300L over a dirt bike lately because there are so many more places you can ride it.

    What is it they say, 80% rider, 20% bike? But the CRF250L and 300L is a cracking bike... and in lots of cases, more bike than the rider even needs!

    To create room for a larger rear sprocket you can reverse the rubber (upside down) in the chain guide. Instant room. Well, that's the way it worked on the 250L. I think this one is the same.

    Nice video! For biginners or soft riding, the 250 and 300cc are the best because you can use all the power range of the bike. The 450 and 500cc have a tendency to get hot fast and in the technical sections you only shift from first to second gear.

    Kickstand bouncing down maybe? Problem went away after you put it down at the car lot and kicked it back up to test again

    The 300L has enough power ro have all the fun you want. You can ring it's neck without killing yourself. It really is more fun riding a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow.

    Jake I've watched your channel for years, buy an aftermarket exhaust I know you want to hear that 22hp at all its might. Bike will loose few pounds too.

    hope you figure out the cutting off problem. show what all is evolved in removing the charcoal canister and any problems you may have doing it . I may take mine off

    Hey Jake
    In my last video, my 300L did exactly the same thing, I also smelled the gas fume’s. And when I took the gas cap off it’s like there was a vacuum on it.
    I let the bike cool down and has be running fine.
    I still don’t know what the problem is. Maybe we will find an answer!

      In Jake's most recent video called pegs/shifter upgrade someone asked that question and he said he is 99% sure it is the charcoal canister and that he has removed it. He has a video coming on it.

      It was the charcoal canister actually. It's been deleted since then and hasn't been an issue. I did try the cap thing a few times when this was happening and got nothing. It's in the video actually haha. Heres how I fixed it czcams.com/video/aDp6bHdciEI/video.html

    I never rode my 250 Rally on much else other than the local stuff in NW Pennsylvania but I did ride it at the bike trail in Merrionville PA and it was a blast even on the stock tires.
    My 450L on the other hand I've taken to that and West Virginia and it's much more capable!

    Hey Jake, when you had issues, did you cycle the key off and on or just use the kill switch to start the bike after it stalled? I'm hearing cycling the key resets the ecu whereas if you use the kill switch it's business as normal.

      @@TheGardenSnake it was the charcoal thing. if you overfill a bike with one it can flood it and cause these issues. apparently it fucks the ecu so it doesn't know how to fuel properly and runs it rich/stalls until it's evaporated. that's why it worked again after a while.

    Nice riding on the 300l 👍. I’m doing the Smoky Mountain 500 on mine later this Spring…watching your vids gives me hope that the little red pig can make it through. It’s also nice to hear someone else sounding as out of shape as me when trail riding. 😂

      My CRF250 Rally with upgraded suspension reminds me sooo much of the XR250 I had in 1983! It's got a few extra kilos because of the water cooling, electric start (and battery!), ABS brakes, fairing. But it's massively more comfortable on road, uses half the fuel (and nearly 3x the range), and needs servicing every 8000 miles instead of every 1000 miles.

    Oh, I mean, from that 360 view not sure I can tell for sure, but that bike looks to work waaaay better with those suspension mods - it seems to take all the bumps as a champ, not sure I've seen it bottom out at all in this vid. What would you say, Jake? How would you rate the suspension upgrade?

    Tell Chris to get back at making videos to, I miss the sh#t out of the fireguy vids. He's pretty much one of the first i started watching years ago. I like the standard camera views better than the 360.. the 360 makes the terrain look way easier then it is.

    I’m torn between the wr250 and the crf300l but I’m very much an off road guy and worried about bending or breaking the subframe 😅

      I feel you on that. I’ve always thought that about bikes with attached subframes. But I’ve been riding for almost 20 years, crashed I don’t even know how many times, never bent a subframe. Don’t get me wrong, I prefer it’s detachable. But I’m not worried about it at this point.

    After all the vids on this bike and all the mods I still feel like there’s no reason to ever buy this bike over any other bike. Everything is just better for the same price range imo

      Can you get a bike that's a better dirt bike for the price? Yes. Can you get a bike that's a better roadbike/supermoto for the price? Welll, I guess you can. Can you get a better enduro for the price? Probably. Can you get a reasonably new modern, reliable bike that can do ALL of those things for the price? Doubt it.
      It's a jack of all trades, master of none, but that's what it's meant to be.

    I grew up on 2 stroke dirt bikes. Light weight, twice the power of 4 stroke cc to cc. How does your 300 Rally stack up against the GAsGAS 250 2 stroke?
