- Been sitting on this light for awhile as I was trying to source replacement domes for another project. Now that those have been found, figured I would give this some TLC and make a video. Stick around till the end for bonus content.

Cool light! I have a light like yours in I bought new at a JC Penny's auto center in 1978 for $28. I have the box and fabric flash shield that came with it. It originally had a blue dome and incandescent bulb. I changed it to a amber dome and halogen bulb. So far, no melting issues.
Yea, I think a lower wattage halogen light would be fine, since the reflector is metal and not plastic. I probably would still keep an eye on it though.

The gear drive system looks identical to what was used in the smith and wesson lights.
You are correct, if your familiar with the evolution and the merging of light manufacturers in the 80s then its pretty evident.
