    I think that flame moss will come back with the right amount of care. I would keep a few small bits of rock and put it in a jar somewhere that doesn't get too much light. I think you'll be surprised at it's come back. I had a similar issue with Christmas moss a while back. I went crazy with light like i would with Monte Carlo.

      That's the move! Saved a couple of bits. I really hope to see it make a come back!

    Wow. Thank you for sharing this part of the experiment that no one really shows or talks about. I don't have any experience with dry start nor flame moss. But this inspired me to try one.

    The tank of life maybe more suitable now 4:38
    Ofcourse we mess up. I gave up on mosses since my region is always hot. And have redone a tank after messing up soil ratio. But patience is something that grows up with this

    Nice little piece on a failed attempt. Good way to salvage some content and also be transparent with everyone. I had a dry start I was trying with hairgrass that was really taking forever, I added monte carlo and it took off. The hairgrass started to fill in also. I'm enjoying your content. Keep it up.

      @@WorldofWhasian not yet. I'm dragging my feet. I don't have a CO2 rig for it and I'm worried the monte carlo might melt without it.

    I'm trying Taiwan flamemoss now. It's actually my first tank ever. 3 Days in and I'm seeing some Brown moss. My Light is a bit bright for the tank so I'll adjust the timing.

    I tried a starting some moss, using the dry start method on some rocks with a carpet of HC. The HC took off and did awesome the moss didn’t make it so don’t feel bad. I think it’s due to the lack of nutrients available on the rocks. I have seen other videos where people have used yogurt as a fertilizer during the dry start. I don’t know if you tried that.

    • @WorldofWhasian
      @WorldofWhasian  Před 11 měsíci

      I have seen the yogurt method around. Maybe I'll give it a shot! For this specific attempt I was using crushed up activated soil and mixing it in with the moss before I spread it on the rocks with a paint brush.
