  • The lead developer for Fallout London has revealed his team had "zero correspondence with Bethesda" over the update of Fallout 4.
Fallout London, an unofficial mod which runs off Fallout 4, has now been postponed due an update heading to consoles and PC on April 25.
Dean Carter spoke to BBC Newsbeat to talk about the frustration and lack of communication he and his team have had after being just days away from releasing their game, 4 years in the making.
The BBC has approached Bethesda for comment.

You’d think this modder would be smart enough to realize the reason he is getting unexpectedly interviewed on the BBC is the same reason the update launched at an unexpected date, because the show was an unexpected success. I’m sure they thought the show would do OK, but I doubt they we really banking on the level of reception it has gotten.

A new instalment in the best-selling post-apocalyptic video game series Fallout has been confirmed.
Fallout 4, the first addition to the series since 2010, will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
The hugely anticipated title has not yet been given a release date, but developer Bethesda said more details would be shared later this month.
Drug references in a previous version of the game led to it being temporarily banned in Australia.

But at least they allow it...and are also letting the modding team profit off of at LEAST their discord and website. So on the one hand you have the company probably not thinking about it, and being occupied with other things; on the other hand, you have all the distance, and all the rules, from being a big company- and then all the stuff we have no idea about, internal policies, etc.

They don't, i'm a lead for the Skyblivion project and we'd never ever expect Bethesda to clue us in on their every decision. Its tough enough as it is to get large mods like this to be given Bethesdas official approval without leads like this going on tv and insulting them. Between this and Fallout the frontier fallout modder have made it really difficult for the rest of Bethesda game modders to be approachable by Bethesda and i don't blame them.

Didn't this next gen update get announced over a year ago? I know modders didn't know the exact release date but they did know it was coming and most likely alongside the release of the show. Or at least I was expecting next gen update to come around the release of the tv show. The Modders should take the time they need to have the game they want. But saying Bethesda told them nothing or they were blindsided seems just weird imo.

Someone needs to let the guy who was interviewed know something very important. He just had an interview for what amounts to a full Fallout game that he and his team made and intend to put out for people to enjoy on BBC. He is a professional in every sense of the word, they are all now professional artists, the lot of them. They have the characteristics of both Artists and Game Designers, and they should never undersell themselves on that ever once they release Fallout London. They should be very proud of what they have done.

The entire point of the mod is just exploring the idea of a Fallout set somewhere other than in the US. It's basically it's own fanmade spinoff game at this point; yhey have their own VAs and make a lot of their own assets, they're pushing the game engine to new limits and the mod is very well stylised. The real asset flipping is done by Bethesda, reusing the same assets and game engine for almost every release lmfao. Bethesda is disrespecting the dedicated mod developers by not warning them in advance about a sudden update to an old title.

It's such a damn shame they didn't correspond with the FOLON team. This was not something under their radar. That said, so many more people are discovering or rediscovering Fallout now and may well finish Fallout 4 just in time for this shiny, juicy new mod to pop on the scene. FOLON is going to be twice as big of a deal now, lol, in terms of purely number of downloads and amount of enjoyment/playtime.
