  • @DavidErickRamos
    @DavidErickRamos  Před 16 lety +2

    This is the explanation from well known ocarinist, Min Soo Kim: "The reason for this has to do with the characteristics of Frequency. It has to do with the frequence between 1000Hz - 1500Hz and the air pressure inside the ocarina. When the air coming out of the sound hole touches your chest, it will increase the interior air pressure enabling the ocarina to vibrate well giving a clean, resonant tone."

    My zelda ocarina from STL came in yesterday. but with the proper amount of air I can hit the notes without using he acute bend. This being my first ocarina, this is a great relief. Whether they improved their manufacturing or I just got lucky, I don't know (judging by the quality of the firing I'm guessing the latter. Broken pieces kept together with glaze. It'll hold, but it's a bad business practice),

    • @TheChinkachu
      @TheChinkachu Před 5 lety +1

      So thing is something I learned from picking up other talents and hobbies... “Keep consistent.”
      I never knew how to whistle, and tried learning in college. For the whole first year, my whistling was super broken. Couldn’t hit any notes.
      This is true because your skills haven’t merged into the sub-conscious level where you can play without thinking.
      So even if you still practice now, and even if it sounds completely obsolete... Keep playing. Eventually your brain and body will find a balance point, a sweet spot. You gotta learn how to do it wrong 1,000 times before you figure out the one thing to do right.

    • @TheChinkachu

    You mean the acute bend? In order to play it in the key of C, the Acute Bend is necessary. If I blow reeeally soft, you don't have to use it...but then it plays in the key of B. I know...confusing :(

  • @MageWarren
    @MageWarren Před 11 lety +1

    Deux choses à retenir: Chaque ocarina est différent et tu dois trouver à quelle force souffler pour chaque note. Certains ocarinas demande un souffle constant tout au long de la gamme, alors de d'autre demande un plus grand souffle au fur et à mesure que la gamme monte.
    De plus, avec les Alto C (Ou les Tenor de STLOcarina), jouer plus prêt de ta poitrine lors des notes plus hautes sert à les faire sonner plus claires.

    I have a Cheffort 12-hole alto C ocarina, which I believe you said is generally low-quality in another video. I believe it, since it is only $14. However, I have not had had the squeak problem very much, and when I did, changing the amount of air I used fixed the problem pretty well. I was wondering if this is a sign that my basic technique is decent, or if the ocarina itself is better quality than I gave it credit for. Old video, I know, but I hope you (or anyone else) sees this and can tell me which it is.

    Why the acute bend works? I don't have an ocarina but as dry test I noticed that my air ways gets tighter-->same pressure-->increases flow speed (as basic physics). Or does it have anything to do that its closer to chest, does it resonance or amplify the sound wave out side an ocarina.
    And I have found your videos very good. YOU DAVID "Docjazz", are messenger of ocarina. Word. Greetings from Finland.
