This as so soothing I fell asleep. Not boring. I am older and disabled. in bed a lot with pain so I often watch painting tutorials to relax. yes I do paint some as well. This one helped me tonight through a rough time. Thank you so much for all you do. I did watch it again
I paint for those who want to learn .. also for those who just watch .. I'm happy I can help in anyway if it helps I'm happy some just listen to me waffle 😊
CLIVE5ART Clive you had a translucent feel before you added the ultramarine blue...know when to stop....
I love the painting but the crashing wave seem wrong somehow??? Like it's premature? Can't quite put my finger on it...I think the biggest wave part is flipped wrong somehow...???
It could be the angle of the camera throwing off the perspective try looking at any painting from different angles they all look different especially cameras they create tricks of light focus and even perspective
Stunning...have all tools to start but a beginner & find it daunting..😅
I just love this painting. After watching Bob Ross again I wondered if I could have a go with acrylics. Your tutorials on media were so useful!! Thank you! Love your work 😊 Kerry x
This painting is awesome! Absolutely beautiful! Thank you.
Wonderful tutorial. I love the ocean and waves. A challenging painting that you demonstrated how to stay calm and patient with details in sky and water. I'm going to try this next.
Beautiful! I have to try this one. Never liked painting oceans but this changed my mind.
A wonderful painting. Thank you for showing us👍😂
Fantastic detail, love it.
Lovely. This has a great energy to it, love the shape of the clouds, and just everything ! It's very nice of you to share.
Thank you so much - you have become my "artist's security blanket" and help me remain positive and confident.
Treat every moment with your inner child we worry too much about minor details keep a positive mind only positive things will happen
This is a wonderful tutorial! I have a client that has commissioned an ocean scene with crashing waves...I've been doing research and found you! I feel more confident now about doing it! Thank you from South Carolina USA 🌎✌
It's beautiful!
Beautiful. Thank you for nice tutorial. You have explained so good. It’s help lot. Thanks. Hope you will have more tutorial. I appreciate it
This was really helpful. Thank you for sharing your talent.
Clive, I enjoyed this thoroughly. I am going to give the sky a try, but not sure I am ready for the waves. Thank you for all the work and time you put into your videos. Your encouragement goes a long way for those of us who are fairly new to the painting life. Thanks again!
Try just the waves on a spare canvas don't matter how it looks just practice you'll be surprised how you improve
Thank you Clive. I really enjoyed watching this tutorial. It made me feel like trying again to paint seascapes
LOVELY
Thanks Clive, I am so looking forward to painting this tomorrow, mine must have seagulls though! 🎨🖌👏
Wow!! I think this is my favorite!!! Just beautiful Clive!! I would love to see more like this... Thank you.
Excellent demonstration
Great painting Clive, very enjoyable to watch and very helpful, plus all your tips are just the best.
Oh my, I just love this! Like magic! I hope I can get there some day... Just checking out acrylics. Newbie at them. Thank you for sharing. I enjoy your videos immensely. Just tried out how to make black gesso. I could not get the cc to really merge, and it got very textured. Is cc always white? Have several sidewalk chalks in different colors, and would save money if I could use all of them.
Clive - I so appreciate your teaching and your style. I love that you teach patience and layering of paint. Also using the blending medium and watch how you really use it is really helpful. I love Wales, though I live in the Pacific Northwest of the US! Many blessings and much gratitude.
Thank you so much, I'm going to try this... going off to buy the right colors now ...haha..Thanks so much !
Clive I CANNOT get NICE SMOOTH sky's all mine have visible lines in them is it the canvas or to thin paint ? Can you help please?
Beautiful painting, I can't wait to try all the different techniques on painting my seascape.😊
Beautifully done and very helpful...I learned so much from this tutorial...Thank you!!
WOW❤️ Loving this massively. It’s given me hope to succeed with my clouds. I know what I’ve been doing wrong. Far too much paint on my brush and not enough shadow to show up fluffiness. You need the dark to show the light, again that’s true.
Just try and relax let the paint do the work and don't think too much about clouds as we paint what we think
This painting reminds me of a cove high we used to drive past every day on our holiday in Malaigh Scotland. There was a very old wooden ship which had been stranded or beached and left to rot away with the passage of time. You could see it’s rib beams in places and seaweed hung down from the bits that were in sea when tide came in. It was haunting and I wondered what the old ship did in life and what it was called. It was possibly a fishing vessel being the area where it was. It would make a lovely subject for a painting. It will be much more rotted down now or even gone forever. Other people will remember it. I enjoyed a couple of holidays here when I was about eight or nine in the early 1970s. The old abandoned vessel captured my imagination even then.
It would look lovely with one sailing ship in the distance.
Thank you. I have so wanted a teaching where I could watch someone paint.
Strangely I was doing some practising today without following a video and decided to do a cloudy sky as there were some lovely clouds here today. I must have picked up some tips from you along the way as my paint was drying very fast and I found I had to keep misting. Also I was using my brush different ways so after doing a stormy looking sky I thought I would find one of your videos that had a stormy sky and found I was doing it more or less right 😁 Thanks Clive.
Clive this is very beautiful!! I enjoyed every minute of it. Thanks so much.
You only fail if you don’t try. If you walk away. We learn by making mistakes. I have a friend Norma who started painting very late in life. She’s WOW artist now and selling her work and showing it widely. We are proud of her. She loves painting animals of all kinds.
Absolutely beautiful Clive! I feel like I am at the beach on a stormy day. Your details really finished off the painting very nicely. I want to give this one a try sometime. To be honest, being a beginner I find painting quite difficult but for some weird reason, I don't give up and absolutely love it, lol. Thanks Clive!
+Shavauna Ronan Thank you 😊.. think like we did when we were children we had bags of confidence it's only age that hold us back try small canvas 10x8 to practice on daily it helps and don't worry what it looks like just use them for practice it works
You have such a amazing touch with those brushes!! Truly wonderful. Love it.......I appreciate you sharing.
Carol
Wonderful thanks Clive. I have learnt so much from watching this. Thank you.
I love this lesson.. really great Clive, thank you. Soaking all the info and techniques up.:-):-):-):-) hugs from me :-)
Beautiful - do you ever use glazing medium in this cloud-building process?
Yes I'd do but regards lessons it builds up and takes so long to dry hard but I'll do one with it soon to explain more in detail
I enjoyed this video. I am learning o much from you. I live in the USA so I don’t think i can purchase products from your shop as shipping would cost too much. I can see that they work tremendously well
great tutorial its the first time i have used clear medium straight on the canvas and i had to do the mountains in the distance a few times as the titanium white just oblitorated everything the first time i tried thanks Clive im off now to have a go at the 10 min sunset
Thank you for wonderful lessons and lots of advise....As it is very hot their..what do you use to keep you're paint wet on the plate where you mixed you're colours
I’m just getting over a horrible cold, so haven’t painted for two weeks. I’m looking forward to getting started again. I think I do improve a bit if I rest myself for a while anyway from painting. Strangely, but it makes me think more about my style, or anyway how to develop a style. I’ve found I love landscape and seascape. I mostly mix them together with mountains and lakes and rivers and trees. Still. Tons to learn and no where near Clive’s level. I’m hoping move house soon, but am in a chain sadly. If all goes to plan I’m moving back to my home valley at Rowlands Gill, to help my parents and to feel I belong again. There’s no place like home, a very true saying. Follow your heart was advice from a Medium once. I’ll look for an art class at the Gill, there used to be one run by Joan a beautiful local artist. But she be passed over now. I absolutely love painting, I’d love to improve as much as I can and share my feeling about my home valley. I’m being encouraged by the knowledge of a family member Ian Potts who was a renowned artist and died recently. May be I just might follow on behind, but it takes a lifetime of work to achieve your level Clive and Ians level of feeling impressed into a painting. I like Turner and stubs and other great painters. I think painting is about speaking about your inner feelings of what you love best. To inspire others to feel good about the world and about their own possibilities. Sometimes frustrating but a lovely gentle life-style. I wish Id really put more work into my love of art whilst growing up.
Hi Clive. I thank you so much for your tutorials. Those are my first attempts in painting. I m not so good but I m having so fun. My painting of Buddha which I made following your instrunctions, was not so bad but , trying to realize this one, I just get so frustrated......how difficoult the cloud are!!!!!
I' ve been trying so many times without succeding with them !!!!
Thank you so much!
Greetings from Florence (Italy)
Take a photo of some clouds then practice painting them don't think of the cloud think light and dark tones this will help
Beautiful painting, I willhave to pratice waves before attempting this one. Thanks Clive
Clive I love the face of the sheep in the background. It reminds me of a sheep I had as a young girl. Do you have a tutorial for it. I know I will learn a lot about waves tonight
Hi if you go to czcams.com/users/Clive5art and then to the playlist section I think it’s in the 2017 lessons
First let me say that I think you are a brilliant artist Clive. When things start out it's hard to tell where they are going then, poof, everything comes together and it's simply amazing. Thankyou for sharing your knowledge. I'm quite intimidated actually! Anyway......since this was 3 months ago I'm not sure if anyone would see my question but here it is. I noticed that someone said something about you using a medium all over the canvas. I've gone over each video that I thought may relate to this and can find nowhere that you referenced this. Did I miss something? I would love to know as I have a tough time blending on the larger canvas.
This playlist will help

Beautiful, I will try this soon! Do you use heavy body acrylics?
I mix my own with my thicker on the website www.clive5art.co.uk it saves money buying paint
Wow...I'm learning so much from you, Clive! Thank you so much! Hugs from Heather in Quebec Canada
CLIVE5ART yes, Quebec City is very nice ... I live about an hour away from Montreal ... have a beautiful day! Thanks again for sharing your talent...sooo much appreciated! xxxooo
I've been working with you on this painting for a few days now. I can't seem to keep the painting wet enough to get the blending effects. What do you recommend?
CLIVE5ART I would love to get some of your liquid clear, but I'm in the US and don't see it as economically feasible. Would flow retarder do the job?
Thank you. I've tried to do waves and was not able. They were very artificial. I'll try again with this lesson of yours. :)
I know I keep saying it but we must practice I paint everyday even if it's for 10 mins try small canvases to practice with
Thank you, Clive. I paint almost everyday even if it's only to add details. Thank you to answer and I don't dare to paint large canvas. The maximumis about 30 cm or 50 cm. :)
That is gorgeous!!! I have been putting off trying water and waves. But I think I will make this my first. My teeth may chatter while painting it but you made it very easy to follow. Thanks SO much! Big ART Hugs. :D
Just try use a small canvas first if it helps remember small steps lead to walking fast
That is a great idea! I have a 16x20 inch canvas I thought to use but when I look at that I want to run. LOL So I will use a smaller one. Then I can face it. :D Thanks!!!
Great or you can just paint the sky which works out 8x10 then the sea when ready 8x10 that way it won't seem so big
I can get Golden and Liquitex from my art shop in Truro Clive. Surprised you can't them where you are. But I use Cryla usually.
I can but limited here there is a shop in Cardiff but I go for more accessible paint brands
Where can l order your art supplies, cant seem to find you , help thank you
Clive-did you see the dragon on the cloud on the right?:)
I'll go check the painting that used to be a thing I did looking st clouds making up animals
How to paint birch trees
Yup, they darken a great deal. When I put my light tips on my trees for example. They look lovely and bright at first, then go back an hour later and, what, they’ve almost disappeared. I have to put them a few times. I’m wondering if that problem might also be poor quality paint.
All acrylics dry two tones darker so make your highlight lighter then they will dry back don't use too much white in your mix as it will give a chalk look to your colours
I have a request. Can you show me how to paint an elephant in indian style. I love the m so much. And please, some other Buddha heads and some subjects in oriental style. I would appreciate so much!!!!!!
There is NO Sharp Angles in NATURE, just sayin..
