I enjoyed this video very much! Love to see your creation arch, how the painting is born... dies... then ressucitates... it is a beautiful process!!!
Thank you so much, Sylvie! It's very much a rollercoaster ride 😄
Lovely❤ I’ll throw anything on a canvas😂 I’ve been known to stitch on them too.
Ooh! I've been meaning to try stitching, but haven't yet.
This is so interesting because I'm new to acrylic painting on canvas & always thought "why not try different mediums on canvas", & low & behold I found your video on this, thanks so much for your insight on this, it really does help. I also subscribed to your channel and will support, you're AWESOME!!! Stay Creative, Rock On & God Bless.
Great timing, I'm so glad you found me 😊Have fun experimenting!
You've inspired me to go for it and not be so afraid, thank you!!
That's wonderful to hear!
im always amazed to watch the decisions you make, because im like "omg i would never do that", and then it turns out cool and i learned something ✨
Haha, thank you 😄 It is always quite scary painting over everything. But over time I've learned that it usually makes things better. Trust the process!
Loved watching you paint! Those chunky markers on canvas are so fun, will need to try one of those out sometime 😊
You would love them I think! They are a great contrast to brushes.
Loved this video! Everytime I watch one of your videos I get up and paint!❤
Aww thanks, Kascia! That's the best I could wish for with my videos 😊
Awesome - great info! Very helpful and inspiring. Thanks much
Thanks, Delon. Glad it was helpful!
What a wonderful video. Thank you for the inspiration.
You are welcome, Tracey! I'm so glad you enjoyed it.
Thank you for showing the various techniques. I really enjoyed it. I really like your artwork🌹🌹🌹
Thank you so much, Piera!
Who said canvas was just for paint? Get ready to mix things up with these 7 wild materials! 🎨
should have used that for the intro 😄
This is fantastic, these all sound amazing ☺☺
If you try any of them, let me know which one you like best
Hello - Presumably with such mixed media on canvas one would have to fix it all with a fixative or varnish over the whole in order to preserve the less stable, less permanent pigment and protect it from being smudged. Thank you.
Hello Darryl! Yes, I would spray it with fixative. I've got quite a strong one by Sennelier, but even that doesn't fix everything perfectly. At the end I always dab some gloss medium onto any bits that are still smudgeable, which seals them in.
I enjoyed your video. Thanks for sharing ❤
Glad you've enjoyed it, Olu!
Thanks janine ❤️👏
You are welcome 😊
Love this!🌿
Thanks, glad you’ve enjoyed it!
Concerns I have: so much plastic in landfills and cost, and they do not last long. Enjoyed seeing how you use them all.
@@bonniemeads6056 Do you mean the acrylic markers? True, but if you use the refillable ones it's a bit better
Hi Jeannine I love your art please share your artwork today’s painting start to finish thank you 🙏 ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤Great artist ❤
Thanks so much, Ravinder! I will definitely continue to share the process of this painting until it is finished. Maybe I’ll also do a separate video to show the whole process of this particular one
Interesting video. I have just a question. How do you fix soft pastels? to prevent from smearing? Thank you :)
Hi Antonio, I would spray them with fixative. I've got quite a strong one by Sennelier, but even that doesn't fix everything perfectly. At the end I always dab some gloss medium onto any bits that are still smudgeable, which seals them in.
@@jclosestudio thank you ⭐️
Question: can you varnish like normal if you use these products or do you have to use a fixative first or a spray varnish, especially with the pastels. Thank you for showcasing these materials. I'm an acrylic self-taught artist and wanted to experiment with these materials, but didn't know how to start. Beautiful work!
Thanks so much, Shay! Yes, if you plan to varnish you'd need to fix any medium that can move around, like pastels or water-soluble media. I use a spray fixative, but that usually isn't enough. After the fixative I dab some gloss medium over the top very carefully with a soft brush. Two coats to be sure. Once that's dry it can't move anymore and you can varnish.
@jclosestudio thank you!
When you use the water soluble materials that require a fixative, what fixative do you use? Also, would you use the fixative in between layers? Thanks!
Hi Chelsey!
The best fixative I've found so far is the Sennelier HC10, but it's still not perfect. I always dab some gloss (or matte) medium on top at the end to really make sure nothing moves.
In between layers I usually don't bother fixing because I like when the materials still move around and do their own thing. But if you want to preserve layers, definitely fix in between as well.
Lovely painting and great tips. Thanks!
Thank you, Shan!
Can you use posca markers over oil paint?
Hi Alberto. It's not advised. You should not add acrylic paint over oils, it won't adhere properly. Poscas are just acrylic paint.
If it's in a sketchbook though I wouldn't worry.
@@jclosestudioI saw Oaxacan painter Amador Montes use Posca markers in his mixed media work. I’m not sure if it’s all acrylic.
@@jclosestudio thanks!
@@albertoarredondoart Interesting! I assume it's acrylic.
🙏🌈🥰💝
Thank you 😊
I like her showing how use new materials. But dnt like her art.
Haha, no worries 😄 The main thing I want is that you find value in the techniques for your own art.
Sorry, but; is that Art?...
Yes
No. It’s the process of making art. The painting itself isn’t, because it is not finished.
I love it, very pretty!
Fool. Also , you shouldn't use the ' ; ' where you did.
@@sylhoeve2604 Thanks, Syl 😉
What a mess
Haha, yes, Diana. Needs a lot more clarifying.
A bit rude lately? It’s beautiful
@@queenofscots839 Thank you 😄
