Can you do a follow up video of a trip out with it? How did everything function for you? How’d the motor run? How stable was the boat with the deck up front? Did your tunes scare away the fish? 😂 And lastly, another idea would be to add a cut out in the floor. Use a big hinge and pop a cooler in it. Utilize the space under your floor. Good job on the build, I’m excited to see how she handled the water! Update update update!
I’ve seen more than enough videos of people customizing these and yours is by far the best setup. I have the field and stream version and I’m definitely going to copy this 👍🏻
Looks nice BUT one thing to remember everything you add weight wise in your build, flooring, decks, heavier seats, motors and batteries you really need to subtract from the total weight the boat is designed to carry.
Also the lower and deeper the boat will draft.
The more weight the slower your boat will be when using the motor either gas or trolling.
These days since the prices have dropped so much for LIPO4 batteries that is the way to go as with a standard wet cell you can only run them down to half as any further will damage the batteries, Lipos you can run down to 80% even 100% with no damage and the batteries will last longer to boot.
Not to mention the Lipo battery will weigh less than half the weight of the wet cell battery.
Also every hole you cut and hole you drill in that boat you are making another entry point for water to get into the pontoons, if you drill make sure you seal everything the best you can with a good silicone sealant.
These plastic boats I think are better when kept in a more minimalist state and if you want a floor use like anti fatigue mats from Harbor Freight, fairly light will give you a better surface more comfortable for your feet and inexpensive to boot.
You also should get a small like lawn and garden battery to power your depth finder separately, you will probably get interference when you are running your trolling motor on the same battery.
But nice work and very clean looking, we all approach these things with a different mindset.
I was thinking the same thing with all them new holes. He has a lot of siliconing to do. If I add anything to my 8 ft angler it’s just gonna be a 55 lb thrust trolly and maybe make a front deck compartment that is no intrusive to the vessel. something that will fit snug upfront
YEA Man , you got the most customized Quest Angler Boat on CZcams I'm defiantly going to buy one, and I'm only one state away from you in Washington, so you come and customize mine when I get it May, Haw, Haw, Haw I'll get my buddy to do a build like yours and that trailer fits perfectly on that boat I'm going to Lowes and get that to. I wasn't sure if I wanted one until I saw all the reviews on CZcams but your is the best mods I don't think I'd need the light stick as I'm never going out at night, But dude you ROCK. Thanks.
He'll never catch any fish with that radio. 😂
Thank you for the video. Looking to get one of these boats. You got this thing pimped out 👌👌👌 nice
In southern oregon myself. Slowly adding to my quest angler 10 but it won't be anything like yours lol thats awesome man! And I'm glad you used silicone sealant. I was getting nervous until you mentioned it 😂 well done 👍
I need to do mine the same way! Very descriptive, keep posting vids man!!
Very nice setup pretty impressive!!
Appreciate you putting all the links in the bio 👍
Your setup is awesome and unique from others I’ve seen. Like how you installed the speakers and antenna.
Hope you make another video with you on the water with it.
Really nice looking set-up for sure. That's the great thing about these small plastic boats. You can really customize it to fit your style of fishing. I have the Pelican Bass Raider that I customized for my own use. I love mine for sho!👍🏾
Nice set up! I'm probably going to steal your ideas!
You have a light on the back. I would suggest one on the front, it should be 2 colors. I believe Red/Green
I got the same boat a couple of weeks ago. Can't wait to get it in the water
Me too... It's been too windy or raining here
I been debating for a while on getting one of these but I think your set up definitely convinced me 🔥 this is so beautiful and unique 🙏🏽
Much appreciated! I've added a few things since this video such as additional rod holders in the rear and mini spotlights on the front deck. Will probably do an update video. The boat is a blast on the water and I've been able to fish in a foot of water with no worries in areas where no larger boat can get to.
Great video. The only suggestion I have for you plug up the hole you have for the fishing rod so water does not get in there over time and deteriorate deteriorate the styrofoam inside the boat. Thanks for putting out an awesome video
Really nice presentation bro.
Nice setup their bro. 😮
I just picked up a 4 hp suzuki dt4..for free..nice looking motor...now I need to buy a boat like this...
Like this Maine
Nice !!! Nice !!
Take me to Hagg Lake I'll fish with you. I'm about 10 miles from there. Would love to check out your boat. Thinking of getting one. Love your set up.
My lake I'm going to put the boat in is only a block down from my house and you recommend a good inexpensive Dolly to handle the job?
How is that Newport Trolling motor working out. I have 2 - 30# MinnKotas on my Quest Angler and one is having issues. Thinking of up grading to that Newport 55 in the rear and a 30 in the front.
Very nice boat! Make sure you keep it under lock and key when you're not using it. Someone driving by may see it and get jealous.
Would have loved to see the video of you building this
Do you have a video explaining how you wired the Nilight switchboard?
Really nice bro. very good setup. I have the same boat. what screws are you using for the front deck? i also subbed your channel
Question. How did you “re” wire the trolling motor to connect to clip on bow?
That nice
Since this video have you driven it in the water? How do you like the overall set up now? Id love to see a how you built it video or while its in the water video
any track stability issues with the elevated seat? like when you lean back aggressively is there any play on the brackets that touch the track?
How did you support the front transom i know it is very weak i want to pur my trolling motor up front. So i tested it and it seemed to want to fold over.
I always wonder if you fill that boat with foam would it increase boyancy
Just bought a Pond Prowler 10 four weeks ago. Already have the floor, the battery running lights with clamps . ( takes 3 triple A's) .Everlast 84 marine battery from Walmart . 55lb Minnkota trolling . Need some more Ideas. Happy fishing ! Thanks .
I bought a scotty arm transducer mount like you but I feel it's not long enough . I hope it works. Did you buy an extension ? Having troubles with it . Thanks .
@@timgreene8432 the scotty arm mount was definitely too short. I created an extension with a few random brackets I had laying around my garage which extended the arm by about an extra foot.
nice setup plan on getting one myself , i just bought the 2.5 suzuki motor and now im going to get the quest angler 10ft
Do you need the battery I’m new to fishing and boats
I am looking for an extended power cord from minkota trolling motor to the battery
Nice Boat Dude weres the Rifle Rack lol
Does the boat just sit on the trailer or did you use bunks? Does it lift off easily? How many tools did you use to build this boat?
As of now the boat just sits on the trailer but ive since added a plywood floor to the trailer. It lifts off easily with no issues but without a floor on the trailer the aluminum can be pretty sharp and scratch the boat if youre not careful.
Very nice. I’m looking to do something like this. How did it handle on the water?
It handles great on the water. When using the trolling motor the outboard acts as a rudder and really helps steering. I have heard of folks having trouble steering without a rudder or an outboard acting as one. The outboard maxes out at about 7mph with 1 or 2 people and gear. I tried removing gear and with just myself on board and the speed difference was negligible, maybe .5 mph. If transporting in the bed of my truck it helps to remove both motors and reattach once the boat is launched.
Thanks for watching!
The pontoons on that one look a little more aggressive than to bass raider i had. What kind of speed do you get with that outboard?
With the 3.5 its right around 6-7mph max for me. Gear weight and passengers play a role but only effects about .5mph.
Where did you get that battery at
What trailer are you using? We just bought the boat but do not know what size of trailer to purchase plus there are no pictures of the bottom of the boat. Thanks.
Get a harbor freight trailer that’s what I’m using for mine the cheapest option unless you can find a cheaper deal on a used boat trailer
I don’t have any of the electronics just the Trolling motor so would j need the. Battery
Damn dude how much would you charge to do one like this for me? Don’t need the radio tho but I like the idea a lot
I noticed the sides on mine are wavy. Is that normal?
Hello..whats max. Hp for this boa ? Ty
is a trailer needed for this specific boat or would it be ok to put it on top of my toyota corolla and strap it
No trailer is needed, I normally just toss it in the back of my pickup. It hangs about 2ft over the tailgate but is very stable.
Its 10ft and has a lil weight to it so im not sure if its advisable to put on top of your car but maybe the 8ft model.
How much would you charge to my boat like that?
Post more boat vids
How did you fasten your deck to the boat?
The upper deck is bolted to the boat along the edges and sealed with silicone around each bolt.
I'm not sure if I made a good decision or not. I went to buy this boat at Dick's. It had NO SEATS! I bought it for 25% off, but don't if I can mod 2 seats. I'm thinking putting in the plywood and adding bass boat pedestal seats.
Do you have any issues seeing the screen or using it in that position?
No issues so far. It's the best position for me being in the center but off to the side and angled up
@@boltfiend I appreciate the response. We are putting together a 10' prowler to do some fishing so I am watching as much as I can of what others have done. You have a great setup.
How long does the battery last roughly
It lasts roughly 3hrs depending on how much power you are drawing. It lasts me all day on the water as I only use the trolling motor occasionally and my other accessories draw very little power. I am installing a solar charger to the battery to recharge while im out as well.
What trailer is that? Or the specs of it at least
It's a 4x8 Stirling trailer from Lowes
Where did you put the gas tank?
@@rick902 Gas can is a 1 gallon can stored between the battery box and outboard
Do you have a link to the trailer?
www.lowes.com/pd/Stirling-4-x-8-Galvalume-Kit-Trailer/5005414467?cm_mmc=shp-_-c-_-prd-_-hdw-_-ggl-_-PLA_HDW_214_Automotive-_-5005414467-_-online-_-0-_-0&gclid=CjwKCAjw-IWkBhBTEiwA2exyO6Mm_ECeTYaWEbZKKI9TT34dqhdNcPXSVgtDi_b4YAV4kiw7IggWZRoCWiQQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
It was on sale when I purchased it. There are cheaper trailers on the market. Just about any 4x8 trailer will work
How many inches is the shaft on the outboard motor? I am looking to get a quest angler soon with a mercury outboard and am new to this.
This is the 15" short shaft recommended by the boats manufacturer.
Where did you get your trailer
This is a Stirling 4x8 trailer I purchased from Lowes
@@boltfiend thank you amazing video! Gonna buy one this weekend hopefully
Where did you get the Carpet?
Home Depot. It was sold as an outdoor runner/mat
The brand is TrafficMaster
Hay I was wondering since I love your Boat setup and your
In Oregon and I’m in Washington, would you consider selling your Boat to me, however I do not want the gas motor as I’d be fishing small lake where I live and they do not allow gas motors only electric. I would want you to make some money for your build as I’m not as skilled as you,and I’m 65 I do not know what part of Oregon you’re in
But you could start a new boat
Build if we agreed on the price.
Richard Maxwell retired US Army. 😊
There's a gut that turned his into a legit mini bass boat and has a 7.5 hp motor. 3.5 is a little too low in regards to "ratings"
After rethinking your boat is really used and no longer new, It does not make sense to drive to Oregon to buy a used boat, I'm buying new and will customize myself. The condition your boat was when you did the video may not be the same condition now.
Boat = bust out another thousand lolol
*He didn't mention waterproofing ANY of the holes he's made. 🤔*
I'm curious if you watched the entire video because at 19:40 I state I sealed any hole with silicone🤔
