- Boating Photographer - Episode 4.
Join me, The Boating Photographer, as I track down the very start of the River Nene. Located deep in the heart of the rolling South Northamptonshire countryside find out where the beautiful river begins.
Thank you for all your efforts to show the source of the neene, I know the wash end very well but always tried to picture the source. Just a note of caution, never forget yourself and call it the Nen when in the Wisbech, March and Sutton Bridge areas, for some reason it's frowned upon, thank you once again for a well put together video.
Thanks for this, very interesting!
I love your video and I'd like to traverse it myself. In fact we were making progress towards the source last summer, when we came across a sheep that had some barbed wire injuries, so I called the farmer after a Google search, but it started raining and we had no coats and it still looked quite a trek to go, so we headed back to Badby. The farmer called me later to thank me, as said the badgers would have had the sheep in the night and it was now recovering. In fact I think he passed us on a Quad with a trailer. We had a chat about the source and he said it was off the Catesby Road.
I will try again one day, if I can get permission.
Blimmin great photography but it doesn't tell me where the source of the River Nene is. I'm a newcomer to Northamptonshire and was sort of looking for a guide to show me the journey down the Nene; but if I don't even know where to start....?
its pronounced Neene not Nen
Upstream from Thrapston "Nen". Downstream from Thrapston "Neen". I still make the mistake of calling it Nen even when i'm downstream!
I've always called it the Nene to rhyme with scene and all that above Thrapson stuff is a bit of a myth really.
Never heard anyone in Northants call it the Neene - always the Nen. I'm a Nene angler over 50 years
East Northants weirdo, your side of the county barely exists
