In the first scene maloi's arts is mostly in black paint and the gradient is blurry and darker until she bumps into maki spilling the yellow (dilaw) paint in her shirt pertaining that he triggered something within her. Throughout the whole mv the tone is warm and bright and maloi is starting to use bright colors for her arts until he was gone and maloi's world has gone dark again, and at the end of the mv u can actually notice that it gets back into a warmer tone when maloi finally realizes that she is her own dilaw (yellow) which can be a symbolism to acceptance, life and happiness. Maki (the guy) is just the representation of some people in your life that will left sooner or later but the memories the lessons and the experience will still be in there and will help you grow and be better a version of yourself

Actually, Maki didn’t spill yellow paint when he bumped into Maloi. It was he himself which is the color yellow. In his spiel in Cozy Cove, before performing Dilaw live, he explained that he actually wrote Dilaw for himself. So yes, I think your interpretation that the MV is about Maloi realizing that she is her own dilaw is accurate. :)

Maharani means great queen and comes from Sanskrit. Before Islam and Christianity came to the Philippines, there was Indian influence by way of what is now Indonesia and Malaysia. Kings in the Philippines were called Rajas, sometimes even in Islamic cities like Manila of 1570.
They also use the words lakambini (noblewoman/princess) and lakan (nobleman/prince) the lyrics, singing "princess may I be your prince". Skillful as bini is in the suffix of princess.
The dance shown is the singkil dance of the Maranao ethnic group, portraying a prince saving a princess from a sea monster (the bamboo poles) - of course the princess has her servant carrying an umbrella with her even in danger. The headdress has the sarimanok, a sacred bird.
Alamat means myth or legend. Their songs always have an ethnic or historical aspect.
The "twin" of Pantropiko (there is a Tiktok of BINI and Alamat mashing up the songs and dancing together) is "Day and Night" and has Alamat admiring a mythical sea goddess on the beach.

Hi! I'll try to give explanation in both music videos as much as I can. ☺️
MAHARANI:
Maharani is a Filipino word which is synonymous to "queen". The song itself is like courtship song where the singer sings his admiration to the girl he loves.
For the story in the music video, I think they wanted to focus on the lyrics that signifies a person's yearning for the girl he loves and telling how he's a better fit for her than the guy she's with.
The prechorus to chorus can be translated like this
"He doesn't know what he's wasting while I am here just waiting. Just like your other admirers in the corner, I promise, I am not crazy, you're my one and only queen. Will you give me a chance to have your love? My muse, let me be your man instead? I promise to god, i will not get tired of you, my queen"
As for the chicken headpiece, i think they were inspired by the Philippines legendary bird which is the Sarimanok. Basically, it's a bird that has feathers with various colors. It usually is used to signify regal and power. That's why the boyfriend swatting the headpiece can mean him disrespecting her even with the status she have.
Additionally, the members of Alamat and Jhoanna is dancing to a Philippine folkdance which is Tinikling.
Alamat had this signature when it comes to their music where they incorporate different Filipino nuances and culture. The songs they make uses different languages that are widely used around the country, their music videos has some Filipino culture themes, even the instrumentals (which you already noticed) has some Filipino music instruments and even their outfits are usually inspired by Filipino traditional clothing and textile.
DILAW:
Dilaw means the color Yellow. The song itself basically is about the singer singing his love to his beloved and describing her as Yellow which means happiness.
The music video actually intrigued a lot of people as it can be interpreted in many different ways. Personally, I see it as a depiction of depression and how a person may come in to your life to help you find the colors you are not able to see on your own but in the end, it would still be up to you to find your own happiness in your life, which was portrayed beautifully by Maloi in the ending scene where she used the Yellow crayon to color her art.
In the music video, Maloi starts the scene waking up on dimly-lit room with her art which only used black, unruly strokes (which represents her depression). Maloi meets Maki and she developed a little crush on him. Maki is shown to be a victim of bullying as well, that's why I also think both Maki and Maloi are depressed in the video. There were subtle hints for this all throughout the video and they used color grading to portray this idea instead. Once they met, the scenes changed it's almost bluish color grading to yellowish, fairytale-like lighting. And there were a lot of scenes which shows how Maki was helping Maloi in dealing with her depression: (1) Maloi's room being lit in yellow after Maki entered, (2) Maloi's art taking shape instead of just a bunch of disoriented strokes (the part where they were drawing each other's portraits), (3) The jeepney art museum (where instead of her painting being on the walls inside of her dark room, they are now displayed like an exhibit, (5) Maki actively teaching Maloi in using different colors instead of only using black). After all of that, Maki said goodbye to Maloi then the next day, he was gone. It can either mean that Maki may have decided to quit school (due to bullying) and his last 'task' was to help Maloi find her happiness or (this one's darker) Maki offed himself. Either way, his sudden disappearance had a huge impact on Maloi where you can literally see the colors slowly fading away in the MV. And as mentioned a while ago, in the ending scene, Maloi finally accepted that for her to be happy, she does not need to rely on someone but instead find this happiness herself.
For me, I think dilaw means sunrise and sunset because they both represent the start and the end. And they are also dilaw (yellow) at some point. 😁

Maloi's paintings in the first scene were all black. Maki helped her look at the world in a brighter light (dilaw = yellow). The last scene, Maloi is now holding a yellow crayon. I think Maki is just Maloi's imagination. He's her dilaw.

I've been listening to Dilaw for 2 consecutive days on repeat. I alternate Dilaw on Spotify and their live performance at The Cozy Cove. There was really a difference you can tell, because their live performance was nicely done esp the adlibs and the second voice done by Sammy. It's way way better than the recordings. Alamat really champions Filipino cultures and elements not only in their songs and choreography but also with their fashion. Love that you noticed the neckties. Indeed those were traditional patterns and they came from southern region of the archipelago, Mindanao. The patterns on the neckties came from Marawi (in Maranao where the ethnic dance incorporated in the mv "singkil" originated). Also if you look at the black and gold outfits, you'll see another ethnic patterns. It's called "Inaul" from Maguindanao. Both were handmade.
Oh another thing, the rooster on the headgear or crown is actually a mythical bird called Sarimanok. It is a symbol of wealth, prosperity, good fortune, and unity. The Sarimanok is a very important cultural symbol for the Maranaos and a common traditional motif used especially in royal occasions such as enthronement, weddings, or kalilang (feasts).
The ending, I'd like to think of it as because they fought in the beginning and they really haven't broken up, she only went back to him so they could have a talk whether they make up or break up.

Until Maki came who represented the DILAW (Yellow in English) of her life. So suddenly her life changed. Maki helped make Maloi's life happy and colorful. You can also see that Maloi's previously black paintings have become colorful. But in the end she realized that Maki was just her imagination.
