  • Finally did this upgrade and boy o boy am i super happy with the outcome. It's not a cheap upgrade but well worth the money spent for such a super product.
    There is a quick video from Long Ranger on you tube well worth watching
    • Jimny Longranger Fuel ...
    One of the biggest weakness for the Jimny is it's fuel range. The stock fuel tank is only 40L and range is about 350-400km for a stock Jimny. If you do any mods like bigger tires and suspension upgrades along with any attempts to do some overlanding (which adds more weight) the fuel consumption becomes ridiculously high and the fuel range plummets to about 250km.
    That's why the Jimny really needs this upgrade and also it has another extra 30L auxiliary tank which is custom made. So after this mod the total fuel onboard the Jimny is 110L which extends the range up to almost a 800km in best conditions but about 600km in rough conditions and i am extremely happy with that.
    Please like, share and subscribe to my channel so i can keep things going 👍👌😎
    Go Jimny 🤞

    I got the long ranger tank added to my 2022 Jimny, absolutely love it.
    I live down under and having a fuel range of 900-1000klms is a must, carrying fuel cans in the outback on a Jimny is wasting storage space for other necessities.
    I love knowing I’ve got heaps of good non contaminated fuel on tap, no need to pull over and fuel up via dodgy servos or carried heavy fuel containers.
    Awesome modification to my jimny, proudly Aussie made and well worth the investment if you plan on going into the outback.

      How much did it cost you altogether including installation?

    • @jasonkofoed6626
      @jasonkofoed6626 Před rokem +2

      @@markc839 it was $2600 fitted but then you have to fill the tank so add an extra 80 litres of fuel costs on-top so they can test for leaks pressure etc.
      It was $1457 for the tank, it was $520 to have fitted and then it was another $660 to get an official compliance place added to the car for the modification.
      Depending where you are the engineer compliance plate cost could be less or maybe not even necessary but here in Tasmania it was necessary.

      @@spencerfrankel414 Gday mate, actually there are a few options now days for long range tanks for the jb74.
      But I have to say “the long ranger” have been building extended tanks for ever and was the first to engineer and release a double sized tank perfectly made for the jb74.
      If you want to install yourself then go straight to the long ranger in nsw or go to any ARB store and they work with and install all long ranger products.
      Personally extending the fuel range was a must for me and was the first mod I done on the jimny accompanied by old man emu lift kit and rear diff locker.
      You get those mods and your ib74 just went bulletproof.

    When jimny is fully loaded and modified , I still worry about it’s power, 1.5 NA petrol engine is just too weak, especially going uphills, I still believe the car like this should use turbo Diesel engine, 2.0 diesel should be perfect for modified jimny.

      Hi nice work, the extra weight is carried lower with lower centre of gravity than gerry can's good improvement
      Are you still looking at turbo/super charger or bigger motor

    • @thenewjimnychannel361
      @thenewjimnychannel361  Před 2 lety

      You are absolutely right, the Jimny really lacks power and I guess the only two options are engine upgrade or turbo/supercharger! Which is cheaper and gives better power I’m not sure.

    thus, to recap: long range and aux tank (btw now browndavis provides a 38l aux tank for the JB74W too) gives your Jimny what kind of range? also, have you found any lithium battery to replace your 70 amp battery under the hood?

    Another great video, thanks. I really enjoy watching them. One question, I have wondered this since I first saw the pictures of it. How does the fuel get transferred from one side to the other as there appears to a small part of the tank on the other side of the prop shaft, is there an internal transfer or something?

      Thanks for the positive comment 👍 yes I think there is a fuel line or a hose in between and also there is a second fuel regulator box. But I think Long Ranger can answer your question better than me😄

    The new jimny axels, do they handle bigger wheels and lockers well? how hard would it be to setup the older jimny 1999 with a set of these axels..?

      Yes the Jimny lacks power in tough situations but I have new gear ratios in axles and soon I am getting lower ratios in t-case. That helps a lot.
