Nate has personified Fear. In the song "Mansion" in the 3rd verse he talks about fear entering his life, or mind ( or mansion as the mansion is the representation of his mind). In this song it's literally a confrontation between himself and Fear. That's why he gives a chuckle to "fear" when Fear asks
Fear : "is that me or the fear talking?"
Nate : "what a dumb question"
Fear shows up in a bunch of Nate's songs. Fear is something we all struggle with; fear of failure, fear of not being accepted, fear of people, ect ect ect.
This song is just a masterpiece IMO. It's one of my favourite NF songs.

Intro 3 is the first of his 3rd album, Perception. The search is the start of his 4th album. Clouds is the start of his 5th album but is separate from the story of all other albums

Also, (sorry for the double comments) this song isn’t a discussion between “Nate(NF in black)” and “Nathan(NF in white)”, it’s actually a conversation between Nate(just Nate) and his personification of fear. He drops a couple a clues to show us that. “What are you scared of me?” “I miss when you and I had scary dreams” “I’m glad you put me in Mansion, but you should have told them straight”. The main line that shows us that is, “You shouldn’t have let me move in and give me my own room”. This is what Nate said in Mansion when talking about the room that fear moved into. The majority of the song is fear yelling at Nate. But at the end, it’s Nate hitting fear over the head with the shovel and burying him. He uses these personifications of his emotions A LOT. This is probably the main one we saw prior to “Hope”. Hope that helps(please excuse my pun😂).

CLOUDS is it's own mixtape. The Search is the intro song on the album The Search. Intro 3 is the intro to the album Perception. The album release order is (Moments - independent) Mansion, then Therapy Session, then Perception, then The Search, then Clouds the Mixtape and now we waiting for HOPE. I'm soooo happy you did intro 3. Another FIRE reaction to this artist, man.

Hahaha I was waiting for the day you would actually restart the whole song. I agree, this is the #1 song ever made that should have had a video. There is a decent fan made one on CZcams that they did pretty decent with. But if a video was actually made I could see even more comparisons between Eminem and NF that would drive some people crazy because I would picture the scene looking similar to Cleaning Out My Closet.

Agreed 👏🏼 There isn’t one song of his that isn’t good, listening to every album, in order, start to finish with no skips..you see the growth, you respect it, and you see just how different and versatile he is. 100% best artist out there imo. Perception is a masterpiece 🤌🏼

As others have said, it's a thing between fear and Nate. It's awesome how he connects the intros.
From Intro 1 to Intro 2
He wore caution tape around him in Intro 1. Then in Intro 2 he has caution tape wrapped around the house which represents the Mansion.
Then there is a connection between Intro 2 to Intro 3.
At the end of Intro 2, you see Nate digging a hole with a shovel. In this song a shovel is brought up saying to dig a hole and put a beat it and all that. That shovel is used to knock fear out and bury fear.
Love the reaction! I think he didn’t make a video for this because he paints such a vivid picture we all see it in our minds, like you did with the image of a crow bar and rod. Kind of like Mansion, I like that there isn’t a video for this, but that’s just my opinion. Move this up to #1

I think a video would be pretty hard to pull off for this particular type of song. Similar to Mansion, he’s personifying emotions as characters in the song. Maybe someone very creative could figure out a way to show that visually, but I can’t think of it. Like would Fear be a puppet or CGI thing being buried? That could make it more comical if handled wrong. With audio he’s painting a picture.

I kind of think you missed the idea of who is actually talking in this song… I know you said you were calling one Nate and the other Nathan, but that’s not accurate only bc the negative one talking is not Nate…it’s Fear. It’s an emotion, not a person. There’s many hints and throwbacks to Mansion where you should remember “Fear came to my house years ago, I let him in… he must’ve picked a room and got comfortable and settled in” and then basically says fear has him locked in his own mansion/mind. So this is Fear telling Nate that without him, he wouldn’t be as successful as he is. And Nate decides to “kill his fear” like he mentioned in “Outro”. And he then realized he’s not locked in by fear, he’s the one holding the keys.
So I understand why there’s no video… it’s not as simple as a black and white Nate fighting. It’s much deeper and I don’t really know how they would’ve visually made “Fear”. It would ruin the meaning of the song in my opinion. I can vividly see the story played out in my head bc he wrote it so well. I prefer it that way. This is his masterpiece.
