Pang Lhabsol is one of the popular festivals in Sikkim. It is celebrated to offer thanks and to honour Dzonga or Mount Khangchendzonga
(Kanchenjunga), the guardian deity of Sikkim and to Yabdu or Mahakala, the supreme commander of Mount Kanchenjunga to continue protecting Sikkim. The festival is celebrated on the 15th day of the 7th month of the Tibetan lunar calendar.
The Dzongza wears a red mask and Yabdu wears the blue mask. They are accompanied by the Pangtep or the warriors who wears the uniform of battle with helmets decorated with flags, boots, swords and shields.
The Pangtep Cham (Dance) is led by the Cham Pen followed by the other Pangteps and ended by the Cham Zuk.
