    Since his return from the US I've been watching this show every week to see how ano's English is developing and all I found for Part 1 was a replay of an iconic moment with ano. you'll see it's very funny.
    Depuis son retour des US j'ai regardé cette émission chaque semaine pour voir l’évolution de l'anglais de ano et tout ce que j'ai trouvé pour la 1er partie est une rediffusion d'un moment iconique avec ano. vous verrez c'est très drôle

    English is my first language and I still couldn't understand most of the Sugar lyrics.
    I think Ano is right.

    The thing that ticks me off is that the people who read the sample in the beginning were Japanese speakers who also provided the contestants translation, and while that's not necessarily a bad thing if you bring proper English speaking Japanese people, Japanese people will almost use such an obscure intonation pattern that makes it so hard to understand what the intention of the sentence is.

      @tokumei99 Před 5 hodinami

      Yeah and who was answering the question? Japanese people are used to Japanese style English intonation. I’m not saying it’s good but it’s probably easier for them to

      空耳、そらみみ 1. mishearing ... 3. homophonic translation of song lyrics for comic effect.
      i dunno but i think it's a whole thing in and of itself.
      i've seen clips on youtube of japanese variety/comedy show like this or whatever where the whole premise was people sending in recordings of themselves singing 空耳 .
      edit: is it s a whole thing in and of itself. there's an english wikipedia page for it: soramimi

    Ano should try to listen to the English lyrics of Monkey Majik's Ryugakusei some time
    The song's Japanese lyrics are literally something of a mishearing of the English ones

    I can hear lyrics in Japanese way easier than in English. Most singers don't even try to be audible. That's literally their job.

    My Japanese is a thousand times better than their English, and that is saying a lot. This is what happens when you have a culture in which you think being "cute" is a good substitute for intelligence and worth.
