    Simplification is fantastic, you ve got rid of separate mechanism for center star in very elegant way. But I would suggest to put that lifting ramp in parallel with linear rails (like original fletcher table has), so you can easily do even more complicated skirt (which makes not round table round, for round2round table). This mechanism probably prevents it, beacuse skirt wouldnt be able to go too much down, so its upper static part which does not rotate would be probably very thin. But for this kind of table it is brilliant.

    • @michaelgec3344
      @michaelgec3344  Před rokem +1

      Thank you so much for your comment and suggestions. I must say I did look at and work on parallel ramps like the original fletcher capstan tables. But for my design I found that in such a short distance of travel the ramps to be to dramatically steep. Like you said I couldn't get the expanding and the skirt to work together any other way.
      You are one of the very few that understand what I have done, taking out the inherent problem of rising the star two levels in such a confined area. This star issue is where I was having most of my troubles. It took about a year, obviously on and off, it's just a hobby. Then slap my forehead, it just hit me. Few weeks later had a finished table.
      I built this table on a dare from a fellow engineer, as for my hobbies I view as my number 2 best build. My number 1 best build is my CNC router design and build. Check it out on my channel.

      @@theamzngq The first table I built and designed and redesigned many times on to prove my design was a 4 foot to 5 foot table. I did most design in CAD, then physically prove the design using wood and patching crap together here and there. The table looked like a piece of swiss cheese. I work in Solidworks, I have most of the 3D models and I made most 2D prints for the parts I had fabricated, it you wish I have both 3 foot tabled and 4 foot table if your interested.
      The difference to go from a 3 foot table to a 4 foot table is minor, very little changes. All heights stay the same, the only thing that really changes, as for the mechanics is the arms and arm anchor plate.
      Can I ask where you are from? Me, I am an old Kansas farm boy. Just turned 60 and living my dream in Asia, southern China to be exact.
      If you wish me to send what I have in the way 3D models and 2D prints no problem, but there will be no type of plans or explanations, I just don't have time to put all that together. But no problem send to you via internet. No charge go through it save what you want, throw out the rest.
      I have had many comments and direct contact to my email on how the operation of the table. I may plan on doing a total in depth video. Your Thoughts should I do a total in depth. I don't mind giving my knowledge away.

      Keshaw, I have been asked both for plans and people wanting to buy all the components. All the components got very expensive, then add shipping cost, duties just didn't seem logical. So I am thinking of putting together prints and bill of material for all the parts.

      @@michaelgec3344 Thanks for doing this for us. If you can sell the materials, especially the metal parts, for us to install, after making the wood parts on our own, I think that would be a win-win situation.
