he is south african player, local american need to play cricket to grow cricket in united states
If you look at recent history of USA Cricket (the last 20~ years), you won’t see very many home grown players on the national team until 2021. Since 2021, we’ve seen several players under the age of 21 make their way into the USA team. These are players who grew up playing in the USA. A big reason why they’re suddenly appearing on the USA team is due to MLC and Minor League Cricket. Players like Gousie were brought to the USA to bolster the overall national product. They’ve done that, and those of them who have met icc qualifications (3 years in country) should have every right to represent USA if they deserve the spot with their play. Andries deserves that spot. We are hoping he gets it.
Very true but it would be fun to see the entire spectrum of US multi-culturalism on display in the national team. Everybody - Indians, African-Americans, Italians, hispanics, Anglos, Irish, Polish etc.....even baseball players who want to try out..such a diverse population demographic....maybe the most diverse in the world. That's my dream....maybe in 5-10 years. For that to happen those born in full member cricket playing countries but now living in the US have to genuinely share the game and encourage newcomers rather than belittling them or pushing them away. @@BigInnings
Will they ever happen? Not while people are too scared to talk about it (As obvious as it is to all and sundry) find some middle ground and make cricket a sport for all curious Americans not just those fortunate few that were born in a big time cricket playing country. That will mean some people will have to step back and become teachers and givers not just leeches and takers.
@@ben2976 yeah, and that will get easier and easier to do the more it happens.
As for Andries Gous...he must be in the national squad for the world cup. He might even be the best player the USA has up their sleeve,@@BigInnings
