I got one of the 42" tractor type mowers and Ryobi has certainly gotten better at hiding the beeper. I needed three different torx bits, an extender, and a right-angle driver to take off the side panel and access the beeper.
I unplugged it. But a couple of months in, one of the 12v 75ah went. I'm confident it is just a coincident and that horn harness does not need a continuous loop.
No nice of you to make a video to answer someone's question. You and your wife are very good teachers and explainers. You are so resourceful and so smart. I look forward to watching each video from start to finish :-).
Thank you for an alternative to just clipping the cable when I do the battery replacement! Now I'll definitely just put some tape with some cotton or a tab of paper towel in the hole.
Maybe a small piece of foam in addition to the duct tape would do the trick. Personally the beeper never bothered me, but it's nice to see how easy it would be to diminish the sound if I wanted to.
Hi great video and it helped me with my Ryobi 480eX (April 2022). I followed your great and easy instructions to find out with the 480ex (100ah battery) the beeper is on the lower right rear side not the left mid (should've listened to where the sound was coming from prior to removing the left side, lol). You can remove the right side rear panel screws and get your fingers in and apply duck-tape over the beeper. BIG difference can't hear the beeper with the blades on (I put two pieces on it). 👍
This is great information! Sounds like you know a lot about batteries for this lawn mower.... I have a question for you. What's your take on the Cub cadet 30 in 30 amp lithium ion mower?...I'm torn between that and the Ryobi and would like your opinion on what you feel would be a better product long term?
That is a good question, I am very pro electric cars, tractors, trucks and mowers, I think its the future, but I am not super excited about lithium Ion. That technology is just too dangerous for my comfort level. CZcams is full of videos with Lithium battery packs exploding. (Have a look) Most mowers are pretty much the same, 4 tires, a deck and a seat so I would rather compare the battery power system between mowers to be a fair as I don't have a cub. I am sure there are thousands of cub owners out there that are very happy with their older mowers. Without a doubt there is a new shiny new penny syndrome that lithium seems to generate in public perception, and I get it , its new , cool , hip and screams high tech, but each battery technology has its pro's and con's, for instance, lithium ion cant be used in really hot weather and or negative cold weather, premature battery burnout will be the result without addressing the environmental issues. Pb AGM has no problem operating in the same conditions. The cost of lithium ion is 2x that of Pb AGM. Another comparison is going to be weight, the Pb is going to be a much much heavier machine, no problem for a mower but a big problem if you drive a tesla car. Pb in a tesla car would be an awful experience in that the extra weight will be your enemy, but in the case of the mower it would be beneficial. A Pb AGM system because of the heavier weight of the batteries, the axles and frame must be built much stronger. The first cell phones were the size and weight of a brick for good reason ! LOL I have seen this cub mower before and wondered why it looks identical to the craftsman E150 , same battery, same control panel same charging system, clearly one company is making this mower and another is re branding it... not that it is bad, but its just what I have noticed. Lithium will only last on average about 3 years and then need replacement. question ... how much will the battery pack cost to replace? I can pretty much guarantee you it will punch a hole in our wallet. Nothing lasts forever, and every battery in every machine will eventually need to be replaced, the total cost of ownership over 6 years would be an interesting comparison for sure. I am at the end of year 4 with the Ryobi and the batteries are still about 75% capacity. All the reviews on the cub electric are not older than 1 year or so, I wish there was a 4 year review on the cub electric to be completely fair.
@@solarbrianyvonneWOW SIR!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS INFORMATION! YOU'RE REALLY HELPFUL AND IM PROBABLY GOING TO GO WITH THE RYOBI...IF I HAVE ANY ISSUES OR CONCERNS I WILL BE HEADING BACK FOR ADVICE FROM YOU LOL! THIS IS A GREAT CHANNEL...I WILL SPREAD THE WORD!
@@solarbrianyvonne Wow... Info I did not know about the Lithium Batteries.. Thanks , I will wait , Hope my batteries will last the way yours are ... Mine are only one year old. So maybe in 5 to 6 years the Lithium type will Advance in SAFETY & PRICE & LONGEVITY. Thanks again....

Thanks ! That certainly is simple enough. That will save me a lot of time searching and disassembling in our 90 and above Florida heat and humidity.
your welcome !

Another great how-to for the Ryobi 480e! This is definitely something I'm going to do! Thank you, Brian & Yvonne!
Thanks !
Just did it with the tape thing, still get a little beep bug not that annoying loud beep! 😁🤙🏽

Hey Brian I put you in my video titled stand by your mowing man
Awesome ! I will take a look !
Thanks bro!
You bet!
Great alternative to clipping the wire.
Where did you get that small ball hitch ?
its just a 1/2 inch by 3 inch bolt with 2 nuts
Thanks, great tip, do you have a video on replacing the FNR switch by chance? Appreciate your reply
I dont have a video on that as mine has not malfunctioned but it should be fairly easy to replace as it is in the control console.
Big like
thanks for stopping in .

Hello Brian thanks for the video and also
do you know how to switch off the chair sensor??? Please let me know. Thanks
Sorry this is not something I would recommend and if I put out a video of it and someone was injured I may be liable.
Ok
Is that the same speaker that is for the seat too ? I’d like to make the seat beeping quieter (or silenced) as well .. thank you !
Hi Matt, yes it is.
