- This is the new WLTOYS 184008!
Wltoys used to be at the top when it comes to cheap/budget RC Cars but since prices have shot up and competitors have been offering more for less they have certainly been taking a huge hit!
The 144001 was at one point the best cheap RC car you could buy but now its almost double the price it used to be.
We have been asking for another 1/10 for a while now and instead of giving us what we all want we simply get another terrible looking parts bin special.. Come on WLTOYS..
Is the end near for the company after so many terrible releases?

Come on WLTOYS.. Why did you release this? Underwhelming and underperforming.. I'm sorry but this was disappointing. Who agrees? Happy new year everyone i hope you have a great 2024! 😎👍
First of all, let me say that I love A959.
The reason why 144001 is so popular is because the design of the copy source, LCracing/EMB-1, was excellent.
And WLtoys' 1/18 has a decisive flaw in its steering, and the left wheel is unstable.
If they really understood why 144001 was so successful, they should have at least included the same chassis as 184016, or updated the steering on the older 1/18 chassis.
That's a shame... :-(
Wltoys wont be around for much longer
So basically it's a brushless A979b with a wig on. I'm pretty sure that if you clip anything with those wheels then you are ripping hub carriers completely off😁 That said I love the chassis platform on the other models (for the £) (A959b & A979b) but large wheels and tyres and that chassis will only end in tears, The single A-arm is not gonna last. I would use it with A979b or A959b wheels and tyres to minimise damage. 😉
I like that they didn’t go 1/2 ass on the lights and just put them in the bumper, but went the extra mile and put them where the head lights are supposed to be! I agree about the body graphics, it’s a little to busy. A solid color would be better with an optional decal sheet. Most WL toys cars come with no or very little lube in their drivetrain’s which is disappointing. I really like the car performance though. I’m sure they made their speed claim with a 3s lipo. As I’ve always said; all they have to do is make a note of that on the description. Your absolutely right though, they don’t consider consumer feedback which is really sad!

Changes need to be made if they are still going to be a good option in 2024 because as it stands i would not recommend a wltoys to anyone with the fantastic hyper go range offering so much more for the money. Happy new year bro have a great one!

WLT / XK has been left in the 20th Century in their Helicopter offerings , also. Brushless rear rotors are now the common & they still have coreless brushed rear rotors .
Mjx/hbx changed the small basher market to the point they pushed big brand to emulate them. Wltays was always a complex story, they are still miles away

All this whining and complaining i thought i was watching Earl Morehead review a new Arrma. Stop, read, whine, cry. That's the perfect attitude to bring in the new year.
Fine I won’t complain that a product sucks and people can go spend their hard earned money on it 😂 don’t bother me.. mine was free 😅 don’t like it move on to another channel there’s plenty of them about. Better still grab a camera and make a better vid and show me how’s it’s done! 🥴

Good review and video, totally with you on that one. Imo they should've use the 184016 chassis and make the whole range cheaper. I'm not sure but this one maybe is cheaper and better out of the box and less prone to breaking idk.

Not by everyone it seems.. i do appreciate that thank you :) The way i see it is im not here to polish a turd and if something is good i will say and if its bad i will tell people to save them from spending hard earned cash on it. Some people dont like hearing the truth haha!

When I saw the review I thought meh... it's ok nothing wrong with it apart from the quality control issues and not bringing anything new to the table etc, but at the end of the day its 73 quid and its brushless. It looks ok for the money I reckon. having said that I don't have a lot of experience in this class of RCs tbh so maybe I'm being over generous.

Looks like A979 shocks, if they are then oil leaks out of them if you add oil to them.

Having had HBX 16889 Pro which a labeled as the best 1/16, there is really no point in others. But 16889 already struggled to move when there are grass, i really not interested in any smaller rc.
I hate that remote, bring back the Old one.... way better design that was...

WLToys sucks for multiple reasons but the fact that they always drop in quality to make more money simply makes it harder to like them and stay loyal.
I have had a couple of LC racing cars and the quality is way better compared to WLTOYS. Of course they are just clones of LC racing and once you have gone LC you really notice the lacking quality..
Wltoys have been resting on their laurels for a while now..

All these companies need to stop with the numbers for names. 5 different companies rebrand the exact same model but change the number.
its been going on for years. They need to hire an English speaking person to think of the names and write the manuals! I guess numbers are a universal thing so easier for them. some of the stuff you see is so funny!
The market has definitely moved on and i imagine WLtoys wont be around much longer if they don't move with it. From a spares point of view i guess its good not to keep changing the product but when its outdated like wltoys are its time for a rethink surely?
They dont seem to care. Never listen to customers and throw out rubbish after rubbish to gain as much money from the last remaining fans they have managed to keep. What was once a great cheap RC brand is now unfortunately dying off.
WLToys - the British Leyland of the RC industry
I'm not a fan of Rlaarlo, MJX, or WLToys. They are overly hyped up by social media. They don't last long eventually falling apart. They cover and build them with cheap metal and plastics. I would rather pay 50 to 100 more dollars for a kit made with real aluminum and real steel parts. Rlaarlo customer service is a joke. Rather than fixing an issue, they offer a discount or a partial refund for a part that's worthless. Just like all the cheap Chinese brands with no big cooperation backing. Selling so-called upgraded aluminum diff cases with nowhere to mount the original sway bars. They tell me I don't need the sway bars after I express to them that yes I do, I say it's defective. They say it still works, doesn't it? I say no it doesn't work as the original. They say we will give you a partial refund. I say no I want to return it and a full refund. Never heard from them again. I leave a review expressing the issue and they delete it. No thanks, Very unethical companies as well. All hyped up by CZcams and social media. You don't ever see long-term reviews because they don't last. All the main brand vehicles I have owned for years and still run perfectly. These cheap companies are strictly making mini RCs because they are easy to make tough. After all, they are small and light. When you get into true 1/10 scale and 1/8 scale they really start to flop in the design department.
Very good write up and i agree with a lot of things mentioned. In regards to not lasting i think it highly depends on which one you go for. For example my 144001 has been going strong for over 3 years now and parts are very easy to find. MJX for us in the UK also have readily available parts. Really depends some of these cheap Chinese cars are worth it and some are not.
