On heavy rotation on YTV Hitlist back in early 2001. I was in 6th grade when this dropped. Used to get played on KISS92 alot back then aswell. Sounded cool back then, then you grow up and understand the lyrics and realize how corny it all was lol. #OneTimeForTheEarly00s
Ricky J is actually channeling the perpetual id-ego dichotomy that most men endure, the eternal conflict between sex brain and reason brain. This video is a psychology class
sorry to disappoint... but this video is NOT from the 90's - it's from 2001. But it's from Canada, which explains why this video looks like it was made in about 1993.
I met this dude on the VIA rail train years ago as a little kid. was never really into his music but he was a really nice dude we chatted for quite a bit about music. Was a kool little memory
I love this beat as well. Always have. Can’t say I know much about Ricky J, but this beat could very well be in my top 10 of all time. I produce, and I can honestly say this beat is very good. Reminds me of The Weeknd beat a bit. Forgot what the song is called.
I met this guy in ottawa at the st. Laurent mall. He looked at my cousin and I and was like "Hey senorita. " I remember looking at my cousin with confusion so she kindly said to him "we're native." And burst out laughing. I was about 12 a the time.
Jeeeeze I remember this song on constant rotation on Kiss 92.5FM (the Kory Kim, Mad Dog and Billie, Sugar Baby and Mocha era). Canadian mainstream artists as a whole had a unique sound to their music back then.
Stalking him? Bitch please. Like I said, I had the miserable experience of working on a video of his. The guy is a full on Quebec french douche canoe. Anyone who wishes they were a guy who writes songs about date rape needs their head checked. I guess you're into that Brittaney? It's probably the only time you get any action.
Oh god I remember this song and I remember making fun of it. I did not realize that Carl Henry did the vocals for this song...lol. I just remember Ed the sock from Muchmusic use to always make fun of this song on his show Formage lol
Ricky reminds me of this guy i sometimes see walking around my neighborhood. I never met him but i feel like he's just like the guy in this music video
It all started at the mall you were standing at the wall So I went to give my number couldn't wait to get your call I even promised you I would act and play nice romance your day's right We chat for late nights Weeks later while I'm kissing you You say "what you're doing" My hand going up on your leg I thought you knew and If you really want it baby show me so I wanted you from the beginning girl (Hook) But I really wanna hit it girl No means no I can do it for a minute girl No means no I just want to get up in it girl No means no I can't believe you never did it girl Chorus: In your eyes I see where I want to be You were heaven sent here just for me As I close my eyes and I pray at night I can understand you gotta take your time Now getting back to my plans to have you I hate to ask you You say relax dude Tell that's is just been a month well that's true Caress you on your neck and rub your back too Always got money on me to pass you Come to think about it girl I never seen your tattoo I thought you really love me when you told me so Now its time for you to prove it girl (Hook x 2) Chorus When i'm pursing it why you try and ruin it I'm the guy you're moving everybody's doing it Now it's looking foul thinking that I'm crooked now I'm not every juvenile thought you were a woman now I told you the truth I'm older then you by three years And after this time girl you wanna see fears Pressure from you peers what you don't need though Why just save it till your married girl?
I don’t agree with or believe in the saying “No means no!” We all persist and try to convince other people after they say no to something. For instance, a couple of years before my grandfather died, he fell over and hit his head, but luckily he was still conscious. Me and the rest of my family all agreed that he should be taken to hospital for medical treatment, but he was actually quite reluctant to do so and he actually insisted that he just went to bed at home. But me and my family definitely made the right decision by taking him to hospital. Therefore “No does not necessarily mean no!”
He still is cool. I love this video. I really appreciate it for what it is. The guy is a creep but he doesn't force himself on girls. He takes no for an answer.
To make a video like this making fun of yourself you would have to have a pretty chill personality. When hes says "I can do it for a minute girl", its pretty clear its a joke song, but I guess most of these people do not understand it or maybe the guy he is playing in the video is similar to some of the guys posting here O.o.
I don't think this song is about rape. I think it's about a guy backing off when a woman says "no means no". A rapist would not respect the woman's wishes.
the 10 year old me (now 19 turning 20) thought this song meant asking this girl out, and only going out on a date... how wrong and innocent my mind used to be lol
"I could do it for a minute girl"
That's why no mean no
I love how most rappers sing about getting chicks while Ricky J raps about striking out. Awesome.
He was a white Canadian rapping. He knew he couldn't take himself too seriously lol
@@mikeyisniceha oh my god this comment was 11 years old. I was so confused.
I used to see this music video play on much music all the time in 2001

I totally forgot that this song existed until now. Wow, memories.

Makes sense. After all, the 1980s didn't come to Canada until '93. ;-)
It's from 2000

That's only the part you remember. Date rape drugs erase your memory.
I've listened to this song for hours now. Gets better everytime.

I always liked this beat...even though the song is a super-creep anthem.
Check out "When Love Is New" the sample is from the breakdown of the Arthur Prysock version. Though the Billy Paul version is heavenly.
I love this beat as well. Always have. Can’t say I know much about Ricky J, but this beat could very well be in my top 10 of all time. I produce, and I can honestly say this beat is very good. Reminds me of The Weeknd beat a bit. Forgot what the song is called.
😎
It's not a super creep anthem, he's taking the piss out of them.
I never knew Sam The Caveman from The Trailer Park Boys had a rap career.
I can remember being super young and singing along to this having no idea what it was about. it was just catchy.
Kaitlyn Gumbley this was also around the same time as B44's Get Down. Kids were singing that all the time and not knowing what it meant.
Same I loved this song when I was a kid
I HAVE PERSONALLY MET RICKY J AND WENT TO HIS AFTER PARTY AFTER A SHOW, HES A COOL DOWN TO EARTH GUY!
What does he do presently?

What fresh hell have I strolled back to from my childhood?!
Oh my god...I'm dying xD

Please rise for the national date rape anthem....
+Nilou Xo loooooooool I'm on the floor right now
This video was filmed in ONTARIO CANADA at Scooters Roller Palace
And my girl who works there was in the video and ppl picked on her for it 🤷🏻♀️
I'm embarassed to admit, I also own the CD, and also saw him live in like 99. :P
I own it too lmao!
people who think "Blurred Lines" is rapey should listen to this song... jeez
but you didn't listen to this song, apparently.
This song is still awesome. 🔥lmao
Memories of a different timeline. 👌 ty.
I had a signed CD at Mayfair Mall lol. 🤘
He really puts the "STD" in STUD
All he needs is U
Is he gay
I remember Ricky J from back in the day. Used to hang out and went to a few of his parties. Good times!
canadian 2000s classic
YTV! the good old days when music was worth listening to.
I listen to this when we first have cable . I belive it was much music
To all the people that think this is for real, he made this to make fun of the douchebags back then..still applies today. ;)
blackclouds909 people don't know what satire is
+blackclouds909 Actually that's not true at all. I worked with this idiot and it was a song about a girl he wanted to get with but never could.
Chad you are so sad get a life of your own stop stalking Ricky's life and wishing you were him, sad fucktard.
Stalking him? Bitch please. Like I said, I had the miserable experience of working on a video of his. The guy is a full on Quebec french douche canoe. @@belaniea2146 No it's for real, this is from 2000 before ugly SJW feminists like you.
"I told ya the truth - I'm older than you by three years!" Was this written about Rick J's prowling adventures around Canadian high schools?
They all got crazy cool sunglasses in the video. Was that the style back then or something lol?
sunglasses, left ear studs and baggy clothing. Any cool team sports cap (yankees, white sox etc) was the move as well.
me tooooo, lolol, omg....I just like the voice of the background singer
Who's listening now 💜
I remember listening to this song when I was 8 😳
you know what's funny... this video was shot in the roller rink called Scooters and I was there with my friends a week ago! LOL
the only reason i love this song, is because it reminds me of my child hood.
Same....
Oh god I remember this song and I remember making fun of it. I did not realize that Carl Henry did the vocals for this song...lol. I just remember Ed the sock from Muchmusic use to always make fun of this song on his show Formage lol
No means no Ricky Hanson. Good jams.

Anthem of the Me Too Movement
Of course it's a bad song but it's on purpose. He's playing Devil's Advocate. The chorus and beat is mad good though. Ricky J thanks for this.
Lolll.. Seeing him on Bad girls club trying to spit game at Rima made me come watch this after all these freaking years lol too funny
hey was the clip shot in laval at the old recreatheque?
J-Roc Baby!
I love this song 💖
It all started at the mall you were standing at the wall
So I went to give my number couldn't wait to get your call
I even promised you I would act and play nice romance your day's right
We chat for late nights
Weeks later while I'm kissing you
You say "what you're doing"
My hand going up on your leg I thought you knew and
If you really want it baby show me so I wanted you from the beginning girl
(Hook)
But I really wanna hit it girl
No means no
I can do it for a minute girl
No means no
I just want to get up in it girl
No means no
I can't believe you never did it girl
Chorus:
In your eyes I see where I want to be
You were heaven sent here just for me
As I close my eyes and I pray at night
I can understand you gotta take your time
Now getting back to my plans to have you I hate to ask you
You say relax dude
Tell that's is just been a month well that's true
Caress you on your neck and rub your back too
Always got money on me to pass you
Come to think about it girl I never seen your tattoo
I thought you really love me when you told me so
Now its time for you to prove it girl
(Hook x 2)
Chorus
When i'm pursing it why you try and ruin it
I'm the guy you're moving everybody's doing it
Now it's looking foul thinking that I'm crooked now
I'm not every juvenile thought you were a woman now
I told you the truth I'm older then you by three years
And after this time girl you wanna see fears
Pressure from you peers what you don't need though
Why just save it till your married girl?
I remember this guy.
Nostalgia
No means no. Beauty beholds the eye.
this is reflective of my love life in my 20s..and 30s!

@thickchick88 hahaha that's awesome!
This video brings me back, i was like 12 or 13 when this was playing... wow!
i always thought this song was to teach girls how to say no. Still love the song!
It's to teach guys that wen she says no to back off but either way works
Omg i used to listen to this stuff when I was like 10!!!!! WTF lmao
This was an awesome song lol
Good ol Ricky J!
