      Yes, though I doubt the VK.168.01 is anyone's favourite...
      Would love a Takom 1/35 Bourrasque because I'm not paying $160 for the resin version...

    • @kingdarboja7903
      @kingdarboja7903 Před rokem

      ResinScales is way more expensive cuz 3D print technology allows more fine detail but also takes longer to properly design and print plus material cost.

    I am not into 'paper tanks' or ' one off builds' but the Japanese tank would look very nice when made up and painted and weathered, thanks for sharing Andy, best regards to you and your family and friends from Australia.

    1:45 the 120 ton version is apparently the exact same vehicle without applique armor (which would bring the weight up to 150 tons). It was never completed, AFAIK. It is mentioned in American post-war documents (Feb. 1946) on Japanese vehicles, so it did exist as a project, at least. There is only one track link left at JGSDF camp Takigahara.

    I've pre-ordered the 168 and looking at the model it's a similar kit to the Mammut kit with of course double tracks. What a trio too. The O-I tank I've used in World of Tanks, very slow took a lot of hits.

    I'm wondering if their O-I is a copy from the Fine Molds one since Fine Molds is the only one in the world that have histrical accurate drawing of the O-I and they were the first one to make a model of it.

    150t is slightly exceeding 2 modern MBTs.
    However at that time... it would compare to like 450t today (my opinion only ofc, the comparison is based on technological advances only in machinery mechanics and... other engineering magic).

    That all grey scheme for the Japanese Super Heavy is labeled as Imperial Japanese Army (IJA), but has an Imperial Japanese Navy flag on it.

    • @soupfork2105
      @soupfork2105 Před rokem

      That may be because it was likely intended to have the Japanese War flag, which is almost identical to the Navy flag but has the sun in the center of the flag. However, use of that flag is frowned upon, much like a German flag with a Swastika would be frowned upon. And iirc it is actually illegal to use in some countries, including Japan, which would cramp the buyers market for this model.

  • @forbeshutton5487

    Someone needs to do a 1/35 P1000. 3 feet (1 meter) long, 1 foot (30cm) high in 1/35, it wouldn't need to kit in a display case, you could use it as a coffee table.

  • @mikep3180

    O-I tank is in the "World of Tanks" game. Loading the main gun took a long time. That made her vulnerable and she has to rely on her thick metal plates. Japan had a huge problem. The weight of the tank was difficult to transfer to islands and jungles. Short of materials also made the plan to build a medium tank a serious problem.

      @Kevin-mx1vi Před rokem +3

      It will certainly make an impressive model, though it looks like a child's drawing of a tank and I suspect that in real life it would have been about as effective - impossible to transport, probably ridiculously unreliable, and a nightmare to command.

    • @daspanzer135

      @@Kevin-mx1vi 11 crew members? I can't imagine the horrible coordination.

    • @thenumbah1birdman
      @thenumbah1birdman Před rokem +2

      @@Kevin-mx1vi It was modular, so they could in theory get it to the staging area. Once they put it together though, it would've immediately sunk into the dirt on the Manchurian steppe and made for very slow going at best. The prototype did not do well on its only real trial run. But what a real monster-10 meters long and nearly 4 meters wide and tall.

    • @Kevin-mx1vi
      @Kevin-mx1vi Před rokem +1

      @@thenumbah1birdman ah, thanks, I didn't know it was modular.
      Anyway, I reckon it would have either bogged or broken down the first time it got into less than perfect terrain and then have to be disassembled in order to retrieve it - something that might prove "tricky".

    Can't help but notice that all three of these tanks are present in World of Tanks and I don't think this is a coincidence. I'd love to build the O-I, but I'm afraid it's modeled to be more like the in-game vehicle instead of following the surviving blueprints and data. Can anyone confirm or deny my concerns?

      In contrary, manufacturers finally noticed videogames became popular and are building stuff directly from them. This things are lifted from World of Tanks and Tacom did prety decent marketing stunt with unveiling them one after another during as they called it "Behemoth Attack".
