OMG DIPLO & RY X? what an unexpected but lovely collab.
The old good Diplo is back… or maybe the young good Diplo? I remember exactly the moment I discovered your music in 2011. The track was „Way More” from album Florida, used in some car sketching tutorial video... I had to shazzam it and I followed you with attention since then. Your newest album hypnotizes and excites me in the same way as Florida. You made your way into mainstream music and into so many genres and now it looks to me like you went back to your own origins. It makes me so happy to see this twist in your creative process and makes me respect you even more. Diplo, please never stop creating! 🙏
That Florida album was released by Ninja Tune, which at the time still was and maybe still is, the most influential mostly electronic but extremely varied record label in the world...it came out around the same time as Blockheads 2nd big release, and Bonobo, don't even get me started, but to get printed by that label you need to be something groundbreakingly new, or a master, Bonobo is still with them, and in my opinion the best musician period in the world, some albums are better than others, but from Dial M for Monkey, has redefined the game, now, Maribou State and Sampa the Great...but Diplo made an artistic statement with Florida, then blew up like no one before, but changed his style up...
Really not understanding the bad reviews for this album. All the tracks I've heard have been fantastic. Not anything revolutionary by any means but very slick, sleek, and sexy. A well produced, engineered, and modern 'Electronic Dance' album. I guess "haters gonna hate." Perhaps they're just not fans of House music; because... "Not everyone understands house music. It's a spiritual thing, a body thing, a soul thing"
