Top Most Rare the egg vm is also used a lot in Switzerland but it holds much more variety. Eggs, yogurts, fresh fruit and veg and whatever else the farmer grows. P.S the comment about breaking them is really misguided. The vm literally has a small door that is locked. Once you pay you select a door and simply open it, retrieve your purchase and head on your way. No movement is applied by any parts of the machine.
It is definitely the most useful vending machine around here as it enables farmers to sell their fresh produce without any unneeded human interaction as they are generally to busy to run a shop.

Also found in Japan (okay, around 30 years ago, not sure about now), you can buy both beer and sake (hot or cold) from a vending machine on the street; ie no age control. I bought 2 litres of beer from one. Thought I was going to get a six-pack, but I got a single 2 litre can with a tear-tab on the top. "I've only had one can officer...". I also remember that the Hong Kong 10 cent coin was only worth about 2 yen but was exactly the same size and weight as the Japanese 100 yen coin, so the Japanese vending machines accepted 10 HK cents as 100 yen. I heard about this in HK and was on my way to Japan so I saved a few 10 cent coins to try, and it worked :o) They changed the size and weight of the 10 cent coin a few years later cos they all got smuggled over to Japan and sold on the black market.
Here in the Philippines, there are sanitary pads and tampon vending machine scattered in malls across the country.

vending machines r gonna be replacing ppl like robots. i dont know if any have been opened yet but on tv i saw a drive thru vending machine it was like a 7 11 had everything including ciggaretts and beer. there was a screen and if u bought somthing like beer a person appered on screen and asked for liscences. that one person would be in office somewere and could work dozens if not hundreds of these machines. replacing many ppl. its crazy technology were it has its benifits is going to kill job market. yes new jobs will be created but no were near amt that r lost.
