I really really loved Myrath since the first time I listened to it. I met it as a recommendation, IT IS AN AMAZING BAND.
You have to listen "Nobody's Live", "Mersal" and "Beyond the Stars" that songs have Arabic lyrics and are my favorites, PERFECT FUSION BETWEEN ARABIC AND METAL. 😍❤️

Myrath is my rare find in the sand of Arabian desert...I never knew such music exists...I mean I'm a big metal fan... specially, i love folkmetal and trash metal they are my first preference of all other metal genre but a Arabic metal band??? Hmm Who knew right? and then I came to know that myrath is also a folkmetal oriental band. It's been almost a year now, since i been listening to their song's..and I'm metalfully glad that, this band exists. now this band has become my second favourite folkmetal band after Eluveitie which is of course my first favourite folkmetal band.
You need to check their other songs specially "Dance" you'll love it.

    Awesome GiddyKitty :)
Myrath, together with Orphaned Land(You could check them) are one of the leading Oriental Metal bands. Oriental Metal is like Folk Metal in a way, but of course it incorporates the Arabic music instead of the European.
Which brings me to that you really should check Folk Metal. I recommend Eluveitie - A Rose For Epona, Arkona - Slavsia Rus, Korpiklaani - Ämmänhauta for a start. Also you can check Medieval Metal ike Apocalypse Orchestra - The Garden Of Earthly Delights.
Another interesting combination(although it is pretty much only in the Avant-Garde/Experimental state as far as I am aware, it has not grown into a legit genre of Metal, yet...) is Jazz and Metal. Diablo Swing Orchestra, they incorporate Swing Jazz and Classical, apart from other genres with Metal. Song I recommend is Pink Noise Waltz and Balrog Boogie.

Not that I don't have another dozens of questions for your second Q&A, but this one is very up-to-date: why do I always encounter your new videos when I'm about to go to sleep? I have a sleep deprivation because of that...
By the way, it seems like many Asian and African metal bands tend to include their national/folk music into their style. The music is indeed energetic, but I expected something harder, though. This video gets a rather low score. Only 10/10. Also music and music instruments as weapons is a quite old idea, it appeared in Teutonic Terror, for example.

    •  Před 3 lety

metal uses many harmonies that comes from flamenco (in particular the phrygian mode - the scale beginning by E F G A B C D , instead of the more traditional ocidental begnings by C or A). this flamenco harmonies are directly borrowed from arabic music that uses something similar to phrygian and/or dorian a lot. that's why it sounds familiar // if you listen to metallica / megadeth, particularly the heavier tunes , they use this sonority a lot.

Check em out if you'd like.

I'm actually surprised that you didn't think metal would mesh well with arabic music. A lot of it is quite inspired by it. A lot of metal is also heavily inspired by Mediterranean music which also has roots in arab music.

Lebanese is very different than Tunisian, essentially they're both Arabic but over time the accent and a lot of the terminology has been modified
