Another wonderful reaction Deb... this young girl is the reincarnation of all the great music from decades ago, with style. There is nothing that this superbly talented young lady cannot do obviously. Mesmerizes you each and every time.
Oh Deborah, the look on your face when Angelina sang the first word "Heaven" was priceless! I, too, had images in my head of Fred and Ginger gliding over the floor with their incomparable dancing. Kids these days just don't know what they missed. Thank goodness Angelina is here to bring all these treasures back to life!
I especially noticed in this song how she was able to step into that time and sing the song as it would have been sung in that day-no loud belting, etc. And the way she pronounced the word “Heaven” was heavenly! The band is Norwegian’s military band (can’t remember the official name), but they are terrific! Thanks for sharing your history with us!

Such an amazing voice, in these concerts we see some exceptional performances from Angelina. She appears to draw energy from the musicians, smooth and silky for songs like this, strong and powerful for songs like a man's world. I'm sure that the military band miss not having her out front!
As you say 132 songs for such a young singer, we are so privileged to have her magic recorded for prosperity.

Fantastic review and I agree: "Takes me back into that movie..." Yes... during that brief interlude, they needed to have Fred in tails come out and dance her the width of the stage, exiting while she picks it up again. Every time I see performances from this show, I am soooo sorry she didn't have the finest film and recording techs around, making this entire show the spectacle she made it. What a great orchestra, too... I still can't get over the awe-staggered conductor's giant grin from MAN'S WORLD, either. I assume this orchestra loved performing with her.

Debra, it's amazing! As soon as she started singing we could see Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers spinning around dancing to the delight of so many people back in the day. And Angelina's full length dress and the flowers in her hair made us imagine 1935 even more! Debra, it's crazy, but you can almost get the feeling Angelina went there for a short while to soak in the atmosphere and then come back and record the song. I'm sure if someone put the movie on and included Angelina's version of Cheek to Cheek when the dancing scene came on, it would be a perfect match. A perfect fit!

Great review, Deb. Angelina was 12 years old when she performed here. However, she retrieved her 85 year old soul to sing Cheek to Cheek how it was sung back in the 1930s.

No fair, Deborah, you stole my thoughts and got them out before I could (kidding, of course!). Reminds me of coming home from school and watching the afternoon matinee movie with my Mom (before color TV). She was a tireless worker in the home (never appreciated until many years later), but would sometimes watch the movies while doing laundry and ironing. Although a teenage rock and roller, I liked the old musicals, sort of as a “guilty pleasure”.
About the performance - the arrangement and the band beautifully captured the essence of the original, while adding their own flare. And Angelina was once again flawless. Her vocal styling perfectly captured the spirit of the song and that musical time period as well. I’ve heard this many times before, but when listening again, it never fails to lift my spirits anew. The magic of Angelina at play! Cheers.

She's 12 here Debbie. I loved those movies too. Watched them all when I was a teenager. One correction. This song was nominated in 1936 for an Oscar, not a Grammy. The first Grammy's were in May of 1959. I believe Fred was singing this song while dancing with Ginger. Angie's version is "Heeeeea ven" (pun intended). While this song has been covered by many famous artist, including Billie Holiday (which is probably where Angie found it) and Frank Sinatra, Angelina's phrasing seems more in line with Fred's version. For the pure perfection of her singing this song, check out her album "It's Magic". The band is dialed back and her voice is more prominent. Sorry, but this is Ella Fitzgerald all day long, she does a lot of Ella, and if you go back and listen to the Ella version you will hear where Angelina got her phrasing.

This was great but I think Angelina's mic could have been turned up a bit.
