    Philadelphia's most dangerous street.
Problems with Drugs and Crime in Kensington Ave, Philadelphia
In Philadelphia as a whole, violent crime and drug abuse are major issues. The city has a higher rate of violent crime than the national average and other similarly sized metropolitan areas. The drug overdose rate in Philadelphia is also concerning. Between 2013 and 2015, the number of drug overdose deaths in the city increased by 50%, with more than twice as many deaths from overdoses as homicides. 2 Kensington's high crime rate and drug abuse contribute significantly to Philadelphia's problems.
Because of the high number of drugs in the neighborhood, Kensington has the third-highest drug crime rate by neighborhood in Philadelphia, at 3.57. The opioid epidemic has played a significant role in this problem, as it has in much of the rest of the country. Opioid abuse has skyrocketed in the United States over the last two decades, and Philadelphia is no exception. In addition to having a high rate of drug overdose deaths, 80% of Philadelphia's overdose deaths involved opioids, and Kensington is a significant contributor to this figure. This Philadelphia neighborhood is said to have the largest open-air heroin market on the East Coast, with many neighbors migrating to the area for heroin and other opioids. With such a high concentration of drugs in Kensington, many state and local officials have focused on the neighborhood in an attempt to address Philadelphia's problem.

I'm 65, and in my life I've managed to dodge accidents and injuries and bad luck and most of all, hard drugs. I can see where casual experimentation with something like this could completely derail your life in a heartbeat. It's very, very sad.

On saying this I do believe life is for living and each to his own, but what is seen in this video could hardly be classed as living. For the vast majority of them euthanasia would be a humane option.
Isn’t Donald Trump’s solution to the problem to round them all up and put them in rehabilitation camps, which meets the definition of a concentration camp. That is to concentrate these undesirables away from the rest of us. Short step from this to extermination camps.

A large portion of opioid addiction was not caused by casual or experimental use. Our Dr's encouraged the use of opioids for minor and major pain. I've never taken anything stronger than an ibuprofen despite having had my shoulder ripped apart. Taking pills, relying on a drug to mask pain instead of curing it always felt like a crutch. Anyone of us could have fell victim to the System though.

So much info given in this documentary is incorrect. 1. Half of the people you filmed were just people walking by.
    2. There is no Heroin in the drug supply anymore in Philadelphia and hasnt been in there since the early 2000s, and most times there isnt even Fentanyl. The dope supply in Philadelphia is 99.9% Xylazine only. I work in the field and everyone coming in to detox/rehab show no opioids or fentanyl on a UDS(since fentanyl shows up as its own panel on a UDS). People go into detox saying they need to detox from fentanyl and they have no idea that they havent even been doing any fentanyl or heroin and all they are using is the xylazine. There is new criteria coming out for the w/d symptoms and treatment of Xylazine since no one really knows how to provide w/d management for it since it isnt meant to be injected or snorted by humans.

The freedom to carry guns, the pursuit of money above all else and the election of Presidents who are both incompetent and immoral are some of the reasons for this moral decline. How sad this is. The huge issue watching this is that almost every addict has adopted a mindset of choice and no matter how hard you could try and help them it will always be in there will power to choose to take again. Coming from a previous substance user who has struggled and I still do now. It all takes individual will-power. When there is no love, no family, no hope......i can understand why people would want and need to escape from the traumas and rejection that most of the people have probably experienced who are on these streets.....i guess at least they can find some kind of belonging with the people that are in the same boat....maybe they are the only family they have. I guess it's a fine line for all of us, if family has broken down, no income coming in, too many people in the world that need help but there are no resources........I truly don't know what the answer is or even if there is one. All i know is i am probably lucky that i live in England UK, we have lot's of support for drug addiction and little homelessness.....unless you choose to be on the streets, i guess that can be better than living in an overcrowded hostel or something like that. Looking at these peoples faces they are all someones sons and daughters, they never asked to be born and i bet most of them wish they had not been born. My only hope for them and a lot of other people in the world.....including myself is that the next life if there is one it will be peaceful and no suffering and pain, unlikely i guess but you never know. Good luck to you all. David.

But here's a short one. These people don't have housing problems, they have a problem with heroin. Many of the people in these videos have a room or apartment. But they are outside because they cannot act this way where they live. They also need to raise the funds to buy the heroin. If you gave every one of them that didn't already have one, a place to stay, nothing about this video would change. Furthermore, there is help available for them. Most don't want it. They haven't hit bottom yet.
