Yes we were quite lucky to be fair, soft sandy soil. Clay is really tough and you might need to dig deeper with your foundations which is a double mugging. Good luck with it. Let us know how you get on. 👍

Gents, can i ask about returning the inner leaf for the door way, is this set out from the beginning, or do you only return it after the first course? The in terns of the cavity fill, what was the mix, ive read a lean mix, was it only a course of bricks deep to maintain the 225 below dpc?
Hi Sunit, you can see the doorway at 14.00/16.55 It is a cavity up to the top row of blocks then it is returned to the outer wall. Leave the returning block off until you put the cavity fill in and then it can sit on top of the fill. The cavity fill is about bulk more than concrete strength. so 6-8 parts ballast 1 part cement would do.
Wouldn't use that mortar kit thing pal, when you push the brick into the bed the frog or the 3 holes in your case is meant to fill up each course to make the wall stronger that's why you see people furrowing the bed. Also them first courses of brick should be engineering bricks really.
Thanks Gravy, We welcome any advice. We had to take a few bricks off and we found that the holes were full, it must have fell in from the top when putting the mortar on. We got frost resistant bricks throughout and they were recommended as suitable for below DPC. Having said that I appreciate any advice from an expert and I will bear your comments in mind in the future. 👍
