As much as I like Silent Witness, it is not the world's longest-running crime series. The longest-running crime series is the German series "Tatort" ("Crime Scene"). They celebrated 50 years of running last year.
I did not think the series were the same after Sam Ryan left.
Dang it! I've missed so many of the episodes. I didn't even know that there were more episodes after the head guy died from a highly contagious corpse. Anyone know where they show all the series from the start? I'm in the USA. 😟

I've watched every episode except for Series 24 which costs about $25. I'm wrestling with that. But love the series nevertheless.
S24 is god awful, please don’t waste your money.
Well, I think I have found my new default series! (Not always my first choice, but a backup that will not disappoint.) My other one is Monty Python’s Flying Circus.
I have watched it for 20 years! Can't believe what a journey it's been. I didn't watch the early years but I remember Leo and Harry with Sam, and then Nikki joining them. I remember when Harry left offscreen, Leo was bombed and Thomas was poisoned by nerve gas. It was all so gutwrenching. And I couldn't believe they killed Adam. Hopefully they stop killing beloved characters!
I hope they bring back Elliott Tittensor as Scott Weston. But as a dead Corpse

Although Amanda Burton wasn’t my favourite actress the series was excellent. It had the right combination of factual accuracy and good, believable storylines. It was always going to be a given that the pathologists not only did their own jobs but the police work as well, interviewing suspects etc. Unfortunately the follow up with Emilia Fox is virtually unwatchable. The storylines are too fantastical with all sorts of ridiculous coincidences and silly twists.

I never really understood this program. Why are pathologists running around pretending to be scene of crime officers?
Have just watched the first three series and have got a little bit tired of the same formulaic plots, including: a body; then a new dead body, an hour in, and a new body to round off with, (often a murder). This seems to be a common pattern in Brit Tec series. Bodies strewn everywhere. Then we have Superwoman Sam Ryan who takes advantage of strings of coincidences, not available to lesser mortals, to piece together a solution that the Plods, bless their poor demented brains, have not thought of. Then Sam walks away with that smug sanctimonious grin on her face leaving the fuzz astounded at her uncanny prescience.
ha ha yes typical British mysteries like Midsummer Murders. My husband and I used to make bets on how many bodies would be found in each episode.
@@louiselloyd1523 Now that is good one. I love also watching Inspector Morse series because no matter how many times you watch it, you will always pick some new evidence/connections up to the case.

sorry it has all gone a bit flat,i managed just 2 episodes and got bored and didn't bother with the rest of it shame really i have enjoyed it for years but that's me done.
we love watching this series but we can't help questioning the rather expanded role the pathologists play. Shouldn't they just be working in the lab on the dead bodies? Why are they then going out there and chasing down the baddies? I know, it wouldn't be very exciting if they stuck to their actual real life jobs, would it?
This series wins both the British and American Academy Award for the loudest and most annoying theme song ever.

When intuition gets mistaken for science, all credibility gets thrown out of the window. Once you get a grasp of the racist bias within Silent Witness, all episodes get quite predictable.
The programme was ruined by the woke inclusion of deaf issues. I’ve been deaf all my life and this was so superficially “dealt” with that it was insulting rather than educational for the hearing. It should not be approached in such a flippant manner as though the issue was overcome by a few paltry signs and “inclusion”. Just get on with the show and leave wokeness to die a natural death.
