Pandemic Has Kids More Stressed, Less Engaged With School, Study Shows | TODAY
You don't need a study to show you that, just talk to a high school student
yuuup lol
Bruh, so tru.
Some of y’all need 2 man up.
Life is super easy nowadays
@@jasinbiggs7189 not for everyone.
True bro ✋😔
Finally someone understands...honestly they know but they just don’t do anything about it
Most adults know a lot of the same pain but sense they got through it it can’t be so hard 😑
Because they don’t care
They didn’t need a study to tell them this... now they should do something about it
The fact that adults find this surprising is ridiculous. Just talk to any high school student and we can tell you that remote learning is not working. And, school was terrible for a lot of us before the pandemic. Adults just brush us off and say we complain too much.
I DONT THINK ADULTS DONT CARE' I CARE. I REALLY FEEL WHEN YOU SHARE THIS STORY YOU MAKE ADULTS "FACE THE FACTS" ADULTS ARE DEALING WITH JOB LOSS' BILLS' DR'S APPTS' FAMILY "COVID" TRUST WERE ALL IN THIS BOAT.
ALOT OF OLD' TEENAGER'S LETS SAY.
HOLD UR' HEAD UP & SHARE THIS WITH MORE & MORE PEOPLE U' MIGHT BE SURPRISED AT JUST HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE WILLING TO NOT ONLY LISTEN BUT "DO SOMETHING" WE ALL WENT TO SCHOOL' MOST OF US ANYWAY. Haaaaa. Heads Up
ONLINE CLASS AND PROFS DURING PANDEMIC ARE EVIL. THEY PUSH ALL THE TASK RESPONSIBILITIES, HOMEWORK AND STRESS TO THE STUDENTS AND JUST RELAX THEMSELVES. THE GRADES AND CLASSES SHOULD BE RECONSIDERED BECAUSE THERE IS NOT ENOUGH TEACHING. THIS IS LITERALLY ABUSE FOR MY EXPERIENCES. I HOPE IF ANYONE CAN HEAR MY VOICE. IM JUST SITTING IN MY ROOM TEACHING MY MYSELF BECAUSE I CANNOT UNDERSTAND THE PROF AND WITHOUT ANY HELP. I DID NOT PAY FOR SCHOOL TO SUFFER.
I SEE THEM LAUGHING AND RELAXING IN ONLINE CLASSES AND NEVER UNDERSTAND OUR FEELINGS. THIS IS NOT FAIR. MY GRADES WENT STRAIGHT DOWN FROM A A+ to B,C now is D F. STUDENTS LIVES MATTER. NOW IF WE GET F, WE NEED TO TETAKE, SCHOOL IS THE ONE EARNING MONEY. I ALSO NEED TO WORK FOR MY TUITION FEE. DO THEY THINK IT IS A JOKE?
Hasn’t anyone realized if the school is not doing enough work, we are still the one paying for it?
It sucks that it takes a poll for some to believe that kids aren’t just complaining to get out of work. This is really bad and I understand that we’re trying to be safe but we should be able to take off days
The increased workload and stress from staring at a screen also affect our mental and physical health. For example, staring at a screen all day takes of time from exercising and other activities. This also affects our sleep due to inactivity of the body during the day.
We are praying for you! Don’t give up!
Yea it’s a Sunday and I wrote poems for 5 hours for an English assignment 😭
im sorry- WHAT. FIVE HOURS?????!!!!!
It's especially bad for high school seniors, we are losing EVERYTHING and it seems like no one cares.
At this point school is useless hours making .
Teachers be like: Dear students, I understand that during this pandemic things have become difficult. I understand what you are going through, the stress you are facing, and we care about how you feel, and blah blah blah ....
Also Teachers 5 minutes later: *give quizzes, compete to answer questions to get a score, and add double assignments.
y'all just realized this
Who has been virtual since March 2020 until now?
Me
just interview me I'll tell ya all about it!
The boys are playing games while classes are going on Zoom. 😂😂😂
Nothing new lol
@@F5_cena Yup
They stress out once they put off a weeks work to do on Sunday night at 8 PM
lots of students from my high school used to do that even during in person classes
@@Ayanjaffer Okay Spiritual So Gazer Gazer
I’m failing all my classes LOL
Same
I might have to repeat this grade next year
I just cheat

@@bradwillard8009 I think everyone is somewhat struggling in school since this COVID hit
Personally, I LOVED the idea of online school since for a few months of March, Apr, May, June was very nice with little work but now that my school got way more organized and made it identical to regular school. Since September, I spend 12 hrs a day in front of a screen....now I hate online school....
Same
I think most students in school have stress about classes etc. Then with 2020 and COVID-19, they would have stresses to tech issues with the online learning, then you will have some whose parents are under financial pressure/ stress because of the pandemic. I am amazed we have not heard of a surge in teen suicides because of having to deal with the multiple stresses that normally they probably do not have to worry about
Prayers and blessings for you! Don’t give up!
well, there kinda has been. 3 people i knew (1 of them kinda close, the other just acquaintances) committed suicide in the last 12 months. it’s sad.
As an educator for the last 14yrs...it’s no surprise. You took kids out of their element! The schools were not prepared and the students are now lost. This has only added more light to the unresolved issues at school. I’m feeling the same way and it’s been tough to balance. Can’t wait to see my students in person again!
I tried two months online for my kids... I was so stress and all my kids grades were down because all this stuff was new. My 6grader daughter started at 8 am and something stopped at 8pm!! The amount of homework and studies was too much. And the system sometimes messed up. One day we woke up with a note that my daughter missed 138 assignments even though she was working under my supervision. !! I think the schools were not prepared for the Covid. For the first time my kids who are in gift program started to have bad grades!!! On October we decided we will sent them back on campus. One week later, my 2nd grader received a note to be in a gift program also!!! And now last week the school district select them in a magnet program!! So so happy. If they were doing online class, they wouldn’t have all those opportunities to show their potentiality. This year school have been really difficult. Praying for the kids . Mental health is really important. Please check on your kids.
you rock. go easy on them, check in on them as often as you can. it goes a long way.
Being less engaged is definitely a thing, especially as a university student. But I learned to take advantage of it, such as sleeping late and not having to turn on my cam means I don't have to necessarily take a shower on some days 😂. Getting more flexibility in sleep so no commute time but also important for teachers to sort of realize it's trouble for students as well and a key thing I've done is TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOUR PHONE'S CALENDER. Set reminders of tests, assignmenr due dates, when zoom meets happen etc, such a life saver.
i’m watching this during online school lmao
going to school 8hrs a day plus extracurriculars and homework was more stressful!
I still have extracurriculares and homework, I have less actual school but it is harder because it’s hard to find motivation because you so many options so it is hard to stay focused.
@@Lucas.Dunn24 same
I still go to school 8 hrs a day virtually and have extracurriculars and homework. Those things haven’t gone away.
Me: struggling with anxiety, stress, depression
My mom: Kids dont have stress (She said this literally)😐
Completely biased. Every kid is different. Schools need the option for in person or at home. Some people work better at home while others at school.
This is a good point. My nephew thrived after switching over to distance learning.
I almost failed. I felt like I was learning nothing. I had a lot of stress and every time I think of school I cry. When my parents mention it it just ruins my mood please, don't go to online. I used to be so good at school, Ever since I went to online school, i don't know what happened to me. I blame myself for all that happened. Hopefully I learn what I did not pay attention to. I prolly won't. I hate myself sometimes i want to put my name on a death not xD
I feel you! It’s a lot. 🙏🏾
I graduated High school two years ago. I remember when we went to Distance Learning. I spent 8 hours a day in front of a Computer. I was really depressed and feeling sad. Because if the Pandemic, I didn’t know what the entire high school experience is like. I got my entire freshman year. Half of Sophomore and entire junior year was online.
Nobody likes stress but we can always learn to manage it. Nice work!
Hi, I'm a High School Student from Woodland, Washington and I'm here to say that there is a way to not get super stressed from online school. The way I didn't get super stressed is by actually using my summer to learn the things that will be taught in courses that I signed up for.
oh cool i’ll just go hop in my time machine and learn all of my classes. i don’t know why i didn’t think of that before
I’m exactly like the first girl... I’m in 8th grade and I’m so stressed. I feel like I’m drowning in work. I just want to get away from school, so I do my homework in the middle of the night. I thought nobody would understand the state I was in, but this girl is experiencing the same thing that I am.
My granddaugher was just like you ... This helped sooooooooo Much
Prayers and blessings for you! Don’t give up!
@@gloriagarcia-jc7sv Thank you! ☺️
Whatever you’re going through, I pray for you too.
i’m a junior in high school and i feel the exact same way. nobody understands. it’s so hard
@@bradwillard8009 It doesn't help that I don't really know how to explain it. It's like I want to get away from reality. And it's not like I spend all that time playing video games. I read books. When I want to get away from school, I immerse myself in a book.
I hope that it gets easier.
You don’t say? 😶
Let me give you word of advice kids. In life, you are going to adjust to change. If you can't adjust to change, your are going to have a really hard life.
Bro they were already unmotivated before the pandemic
yeah 😔
Boa tarde, um momento difícil para todos. Adorei o vídeo.
I would think online learning would be easier because students gets to learn at their own pace and bonus students don't have to wake up in the mornings and can sleep in. I always preferred online learning than in person learning because I enjoy learning and doing things at my own pace.
One would think, but with synchronous learning teachers just talk for an hour than assign a ridiculous amount of homework
Agree, except it seems there is no ability to learn at their own pace because of the volume of work and inability to ask questions... they are unable to learn one topic before moving on to the next. No textbooks, inadequate notes or slides to refer to when doing homework .
We actually don’t get to learn at our own pace 😐
What a fantastically helpful series. My granddaughter is 12 and having so many of these symptoms. Many of her friends went back to school but her parents wanted to keep their home safe. The mother is pregnant, a LPN nurse in a nursing home, going to school to get her RN. The father has Cerebral Palsy and just found a new job, a two year old brother. Thinking for everyone's health kept her home on remote learning. After listening to your series "Kids under Pressure" She is going back to the classroom Monday. They told her yesterday and she just cried and cried she was so happy. Stress is so underrated in teens. Thank you for giving her back her life.
Prayers and blessings for you! Don’t quit!
Yesterday i did a science project and then i told my mom and then she asked me “are you less stressed now?” I said “no” i have to do 5 things for history my teachers think that i only have 1 class but i have 6 classes and its stressful
We are praying for you! Don’t give up!
YES. THANK YOU. I DONT FEEL BETTER AFTER. THAT SAY THAT. IT’S FALSE. THERES JUST MORE.
Show this to teachers union and governments who shut down schools
They don’t care
it’s dumb just let kids and teens go to school. very few kids get COVID-19 and if they do it’s not bad. They teacher dump hw and don’t help anyone. It’s just ridiculous
Wow never knew she went to school in Tucson. I went to Ciengea small world
I hate to go in person to school i love online school
same
Online high school is similar to in-person school but more different
The pandemic prevented my high school graduation party and I never got to properly say goodbye to my friends
Worse my brother graduated high school after the pandemic was over and he got a party I felt so cheated that I didn’t even go to his graduation party my envy was fueled even more when I learned that my friends had their own parties even though they weren’t allowed by governors orders and mom never let me go to one of them and no one picked me up to go to their graduation parties
Ha, the irony in me watching this video for a month-overdue P.E. Assignment I’m trying to finish
🎶 I was down bad I was down bad (yah)
I am an educator and in no way and I disagreeing with the content of this story nor the challenges that students at all levels are facing. There is also all the stressors that are created due to the pandemic. However, there is also the fact that some educators are just "phoning it in," and thus not creating engaging, interesting, and educational content. My daughter was a senior last year and it was apauling the lack of effort about 50% of her instructors put into their classes. There was also the fact that the school district lowered the bar for what it took to pass a class that it actually had A and B students asking why they should do the work?
Don't get me wrong, this is a touch time for our world as a whole, but we should be placing more focus on how we can educate students where we are, how to get technology in the hands of students that don't have it, and also make sure we are hold students, parents, and teachers accountable for the education systems as it exists today.
This is my opinion and it does not have to be yours. I welcome feedback to my post if it is respectful.
It sucks! I mean i finished uni 2 yrs ago before everything happened. I can't imagine not being able to enjoy my last year of uni or having a big graduation ceremony! I never thought it would be something i would have been so grateful to have had. I mean high school/college juniors/seniors especially got so screwed during 2020-2021. But, at the end of the day what is there to do? We are in a pandemic? Having schools packed with students isn't good. So this is what students have to deal with for now until the world is back to normal. Hopefully hybrid learning proves to work. But, in 4 months the school year will be done at least. And, by next Fall things should look to reopen. And, actually some students might actually LOVE this whole learning from home thing! They might miss their friends for sure, but like for high school I would have been super okay with at home learning- but for college NO!
i certainly don’t
I am less stressed this year taking 6 AP classes than I was last year taking 3. Social life at school is extremely toxic and I love being at home with my dog, spending time outside, and having more freedom that works for my schedule. The kids that are stressed are typically just missing their social lives; if they were really concerned about their schoolwork, they would probably appreciate the loose schedule. I get that friendships are important but I’m glad I get time away from the bullies and drama.
It is true the social scene can be toxic at times. However, people are still social animals who need to be with others. I am glad things are better for you right now. I hope your school can be flexible with your needs next year, and that you can find your tribe.
@@Belenshares I appreciate that and agree 100%. There are people who can’t deal with the online learning and I can see why. It’s just too big of an issue to try and stereotype. I’m also very fortunate to live in a great part of Colorado where there are so many things to do, so I’m sure I would be the other way around if I didn’t have an escape.
Lol here's a taste of college kids
sucks to be you guys I have a full schedule school in real life!
What Trump said months ago. Stop pretending like you care when you were playing politics.
This is HORRIBLE!!!!
In 1918 years
no duh lol
Lies kids are happier cuz they aint gonna get sick from other kids, no head lice,no bullying,so yeah they alot happier, don't let them lie to you lol
no one needed this study
Ahaha ✌️
when the chips are down Americans will eat the chips and each other unfortunately no one cares
Bu ne las?
Lmao, good luck in college when some of you need to work full time on a full time school schedule. Grade school stress is literally nothing compared to college. And college stress is nothing compared to real world stress.
We need to get everyone back to school physically soon as possible. We can’t live on with this online nonsense anymore. Enough is enough! I have had it with this stupid virus ruining everything on this very Earth we live in.
Sorry to say doesn’t sound like a school problem sounds like a personal problem and they have to learn resilience... life is exhausting and it’s time to not be babied... school isn’t supposed to motivate you.... you need to find the motivation from with in!! I feel bad for them but at the same time ... things are tough... you just need to push through.
