  • Here's a rundown of my HF trailer budget build. These folding trailers are very enticing, but they come as bare bones trailers - you need to build to suit. So what do they actually cost to be functional?
    Overall costs:
    Trailer (original purchase) $300
    Lumber: $40 ($4/board x 10 boards)
    Angle Iron: Free!
    Hinges & Latch - $15
    D-Rings: $8
    Total: $373
Not accounted for: Screws, welding wire used, 2x4s - stuff I already had.
Thanks for watching! Stay posted for part 2! I plan on painting the trailer as well as adding a few more things! \m/

Two Thumbs Up on the bed frame reuse, 👍🏽👍🏽 I also used an old bed frame to build me a welding cart to carry and move my welder and gear around the garage. 👍🏽👍🏽

    Nice job, great ideas!
I have a really old trailer that a friend gave me a couple years ago, it is in very worn and beat up condition.
I'm not quite sure if it a harbor freight trailer or something similar, but I have discovered that it is from a American made trailer kit that was produced during the late 1990s.
I am planning on fixing it up in the future, and have been gradually collecting things for it such as a tail light kit that I got super cheap from a Walmart clearance, and a wheel bearing set from Amazon on a bit of a clearance deal also, and most recent I was given five free bed frames from a guy who was cleaning out a apartment building,
My plan / challenge is to fix up a good useable trailer for as cheap as possible and include as much free , cheap, or recycled materials as I can,
    Starting with the trailer itself
Since it was headed for the scrap yard before it was given to me.

Wow, that sounds like a great project! Cheap stuff is awesome - especially those bed frames. 1001 uses! Thanks for watching and good luck with your build! 🇺🇸🤘

Awesome video. I didn't know bed frames were so useful!! Are you gonna stain the wood?

Thinking of just painting the frame/supports and leaving the natural wood color. What do you think?

I've the same exact trailer purchased over 10 years ago and I used it for a couple years for yard dump runs and it's been sitting unused ever since I moved to a new place that doesn't need it. The wood's warped and falling apart so it's time to redo it properly like you did. I've ZERO experience in welding and will try to do what you did. Any good welder you can recommend? Maybe a cheap harbor freight one? Thanks

Check out my video on cheap welders - maybe that can give you come insight. Get the Harbor Freight $99 wire feed welder and start practicing on scrap. Welding takes a while to learn and get good at - but preparation is everything! I can make a beginner’s welding video for you if that will help. 🤘🇺🇸

That was a great rebuild of your trailer.
Have you thought of making longer videos ? You have good content, but the over to soon :-((

Thanks Nick! I may start doing longer videos for some things. I like to make videos that are to the point without any fluff - ya know? I appreciate that feedback!
