I am an INTP and your notion about Ti enabling one to concentrate for prolonged periods of time does not at all apply to me. I often struggle to focus on one thing at a time. I often procrastinate and spend way too much of my time absorbing information like a sponge, while not putting any of it to real world use. It's a constant struggle for me.

{return -1;} You are confusing the mental task of focus, with the ability to strategize, think long term and deny instant gratification. INTPs are well known to posess great capacities of mental concentration e.g. Einstein.

I agree with both of you in different ways. I am also an INTP, and suffer the same bouts of long-term procrastination. While I am also able to soak up information and rarely get to apply it, I realize it is different than concentration. It's a different kind of concentration than the typical sense, where everything goes on around me and I consider options and paths, and snap back in. However, if, by the function of this trait, I can miss pertinent information while concentrating inwards instead of outwards, is that actually a useful trait? What use is forming a plan or strategy without the motivation or ability to act on it?

Agreed. That is something to overcome. I notice that taking moments to contemplate and restrategize help with motivating myself. I do this when things are not efficient. You have to train the J muscle like Einstein and Darwin did and therefore bring great results and productivity. In the end, it really depends on whether you enjoy something or not. I know a lot of INTPs including myself that can focus for hours on their favourite stuff.

True. To last comment. Yes I can focus 40hrs(sober & stimulant free!) nonstop on something I’m deeply interested in. My ENFP friend calls it obsessive in which I can almost flip this on at any time.
Example I venture into technology i stayed awake designing & installing a wireless PtP internet connection for a multi millionaire who couldn’t access hi-speed internet 3 I solved that problem and immediately lost interest. It’s still running great! They are paying me monthly and I get paid to do nothing now. Neighbors are interested so I’m selling to them. I’ve spend 40 hours non stop on proposals too where I solve several issues simultaneously with my own custom solutions for small business. I get paid monthly for that too. Now I’m redesigning these income streams so I can have a low cost tech do the work for me and i can move on from the physical responsibilities in that business.
This was probably uninteresting to you but I have contracts getting paid monthly for critical functions of businesses while I sit on my a$$ remotely. It’s that that activate my laser focus. Money & Custom solutions where my customers are impressed. That’s my jam!

CyborgJiro there’s no right or wrong way to choosing what to focus on. I think it’s smart you don’t do that, sometimes I feel like it wasn’t a choice, my curiosity & brain takes over & I’m along for the rude. I get a huge adrenaline rush after configuring a complex system for next to no upfront costs. It’s like I beat the consumer market! Lol! Then I lose focus and crash for a day. If only I can get this interested in my marriage I’d be really onto something! 😂

I find that when I finally set my mind to do something that interests me (a self imposed project), I can focus for days, weeks and months at a time on the project "obsessively", working on it day and night because it has my attention. A project for me isn't a singular thing. It always seems to have smaller projects attached to it as they are connected. I keep a notebook with me as new ideas for other projects that are not connected come along and I don't want to forget them while I work on my current project. I used to think there was something wrong with wanting alone time.

as an INTP, I definitely see what other people are feeling and thinking.. I usually just ignore it as its to much of a pain trying to talk them through what ever is going on. At least for me, I definitely see how my words effect people and their emotions, depending on who I am talking to, I will either be super blunt with no regard for youre feelings or I will try to let you down easy. So I guess what I am trying to say is that INTP's definitely see what other people feel, we just dont want to be the ones to help you through it as its just boring and a waste of time for us.

Hey, from what I see, I enjoy your content, and the information is interesting and accurate, but I'd like to provide some constructive criticism. I found myself focusing more on your face, and more specifically, your eyebrow movement than paying attention to what you had to say, and had to skip back a few times to get caught up. I'd like to suggest that perhaps setting up your camera a bit further, and maybe not make so much eye contact might bring you a more natural feeling. I also found the jump cuts a bit jarring, they especially surprised me since I found myself concentrating on your facial movements. I know you're reading from a script and probably made a mistake or got interrupted, but a little care can go a long way in terms of editing. Please don't think this is a dig at you, I just happened to stumble across your channel, enjoyed what you do, and would like to see you do better.
