Great video you guys!!! The terrible rains we had in April 2018 made the road as terrible as it is now...it hasn't always been this bad. Regardless if it was the exact spot or not (which we've been told very conflicting stories from locals that were here when the movie was filmed) you were still in Jurassic Park! Aloha~

Fantastic video of the adventure to Jurassic Park gates! We took our rental Jeep to the gates in 2016, and had a awesome experience; fording those “streams” was kinda terrifying but like you said: SO worth it! Our Go Pro didn’t get the great footage you did- so thanks Ashley!!
I've been to Hawaii a few times for business, and did the Magnum PI, Hawaii 5-0 spots. I only did one (1) Jurassic Park location and that was the waterfall / helicopter landing site. But finding / identifying filming locations in the open terrain would be difficult at best. Mother nature has a habit of change. I did enjoy your video. Very well done.
We were on Kauai a few years back, and wanted to try to find that spot soo bad...but didn't have smart phones at the time, and i don't think we would have chanced scratching up the rental. As someone who loves the "Jeep Life", that trail looked rather nice and i would take my rig down that in a heartbeat. But not a rental.
We actually continued in that direction because I had read that it was there. We thought we made it, but when we got home and watched other videos, it turns out we didn’t go far enough! Looking at our footage, we were SO close, but I decided not to include it since we didn’t actually get there. Oh well... next time! Have you done that drive?
Did you really? What was the reason for blocking it off? I've tried to look at Google Earth to figure out exactly where we were when we hopped over those rocks.

By "300ft beyond" do you mean to the west as this part of the trail is basically an east-west heading.
