Vince would have never done anything bad ass like the Attitude Era without the southern wrestling promotions (like WCW) pressuring him.

Even to this day I hear alot of ppl in the south that say "yeah I use to watch Wrestling when WCW was on".

WCW was just as crappy as WWF
When the territory system died in late 80’s
      Pro wrestling went to crap

I now know why the WWF never came to Louisiana when I was a child. Thank you Jim for letting me know this. I always wondered why, I always loved Mid South way more that WWF.

"Game of Thrones" has NOTHING on Vince McMahon's WWF take over.

I always kinda wonder why Crockett bought that time slot from Vince rather than waiting for Turner to pull the slot and give it to him. I’m sure there’s some sort of contract that prevented that but Crockett always seemed to pay for shit he didn’t really need to pay for such as dead territories and the like.

All of Vince’s best wrestlers came from the South... I say coincidence it was not

We had Mid South in New Orleans and in Chalmette in the early 1980's nothing could touch that!! We weren't interested in the wwf or WWE coming in. I think it's blasphemy that they let them in the dome. That belonged to Watts and JYD

Good ol’ CCW..Continental Championship Wrestling in Alabama with The Bullet, Brad Armstrong, El Fuego and of course the original version of Michael “Prissy Sissy” Hayes! Miss those days. That truly was the good ole days of wrestling. Not this bullshit ballet.

When WWF took over, it was the end of American southern wrestling. WCW's death was pretty much the nail in the coffin & you could argue TNA/Impact was that one final vestige of southern pride, but ultimately, WWE became that New York giant which destroyed American diversity/variety in wrestling.

ECW was born from the ashes and had a few good years. You cannot destroy pro wrestling! There will always be another startup. WWE can "dominate" but it does not have the respect from the fans....its one thing you cannot purchase.

ECW was nothing like southern wrestling.

It kinda was. WWOR (New York) was on a lot of cable subscriptions across the US and internationally.

BJG: If I had only thought to tune in WWOR on Cable I could've seen future classic Championship Wrestling from Florida broadcasts in addition to the Antenna Television style shows I watched devotedly. Oddly enough when Vince made his early push for national expansion in very early 1984 the announcers were once Florida employed Jack Reynolds and the recently deceased Angelo King Kong Mosca on a syndicated show on Sunday nights WTTO Channel 21 Birmingham. And the talent roster included once Florida alum Scott McGhee and late great Southeastern alum Quick Draw Rick McGraw. Would love to have seen some of the quintessential Florida lunacy though. Followed them and other territories via Aptermags...🤔B.W.
