- By Dylan Thomas -
Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Read By Jonathan Pryce aka Sam Lowry aka The High Sparrow
This is my favorite reading of this poem.
Its fantastic but, i genuinely prefer it with a welsh accent, its more honest, more genuine, more sad.
I like it just the way it is
My favorite reading is definitely Rodney Dangerfield's in Back to School. Check it out if you haven't seen it.
For me it’s Burton’s rendition.
This is the one of the best ones. czcams.com/video/w-sM-t1KI_Y/video.htmlsi=TRZ66pDN4mkPIzpo

Thank you! That parts always tears me up a little
for those who know death is upon them...do not go gentle into darkness of the night...rage and live for that last moment you have...rage.
this poem makes me cry everytime
136 people raged into the dying of the light
Why cry when you should rage? Being mortal sucks but we shouldn't give in into it instead we rage against it because we want to keep exisitng.
Dylan Thomas wrote it for his father. They both died too young.
@@EnchantedSmellyWolf that's not what the point of the poem is
I SEE A MAN OF CULTURE GOOD MEN RAGE AGAINST THE DYING OF THE BONFIRES LIGHT
PRAISE THE SUN \[T]/
Burning of the light = The incandescence Solaire was talking about
Don’t you dare go hollow !
Firelink Shrine.
lol I thought no one else noticed 😂
wow!
too many emotions, i can't handle
My father is in a critical condition. Please listen to this to the very end. I have faith that it will reach him somehow.
anybody else get goosebumps?
True art in my opinion.the value in its literal sense towards the death of his father. But the feelings I get from it, for me say to fight with everything that you can muster for what you want! Great things of true value don't come easy and are worth everything when fighting for.
Good bye then.
Be safe, friend.
Don't you dare go Hollow.
it's fucking firelink shrink bgm omg
YAASSSS
Ik wtf
for real bro
I knew it.
this is the dude that needed to read this ... excellent
For me it means 'don't ever give up.
I believe the author of that poem wrote it for their father, who was dieing at the time, begging them to hang on, and fight death. so you are kind of spot on.
Firelink Shrine. My old friends.
Good bye then.
Be safe, friend.
Don't you dare go Hollow. ;)
This reading is absolutely incredible, it sends shivers down my spine
Thank you Mr. Pryce. Now I understand this poem...
Dark Souls music is an interesting choice
perfect use of dark souls' soundtrack
I prefer Dylan Thomas’ recitation. He wrote the poem, he knew it best.
I felt like crying while listening. Very nice presentation.
Love this one. The best one I found so far.
A beautiful and touching poem, one of the best.
GO JONATHAN
Once again a lovely performance. straight A

Prepare to cry...
Beautiful poem!
Firelink shrine, a perfect fit for this
❤❤❤❤❤❤
All these years, still Mr Dark to me.
Here from frankieonpc1080p. This fits odly with a zombie apocalypse evening around the fire.
The dark souls music is a nice addition to the background and oddly fitting.
We will find a way, We always have. :)
I didn't know Bernie Sanders was into poetry.
Proioxis Prime it's actually his cousin. I'm surprised you noticed that.
I haven't told anyone I know in real life or online, But the hospital and the doctor don't think I'll make it much longer, my lungs are failing on me and so is my heart, I won't even reach my 21st Birthday if my health stays at what it is. I'm so fucking scared. I don't want to leave
You there buddy?
Rakan
Beautiful 👏
I would love if someone said this at my funeral
Do return harshly from that bad day
Young age should not freeze and be calm at the opening of night
Embrace, embrace, the living of the dark
Oh my god, firelink shrine
This poem has haunted me for more than forty years, and will for all the time that remains to me.

"Well, what do we have here? You must be a new arrival..."
Good bye then.
Be safe, friend.
Don't you dare go Hollow.
I remember him as the high sparrow
A wise and good meditation upon which I shall lay my head to rest on this night...as the very foundations and pillars of our republic shudder and shake.
Wow. Well done.
visions of sparrow
LOLZ "The High Sparrow"
Remarkable!
I did not expect the dark souls soundtrack but it works
I read This poem on my channel but I did not do as good of a job as this

God damn it Dark Souls!!
Relinking of the flame

"It means I don't take shit from no one."
There goes the neighborhood
Bernie Sanders just read this spectacularly.
Dark souls soundtrack 👌🏻
16 gave up and went gently into the night...
illusinary wall ahead
Firelink shrine music?
my god i thought it was!
I mean, it's the firelink shrine music but it fits well.
Thought I recognised this music, then I checked the comments
The poem in my opinion, reflects the fight of those who have no eternal focus on life but the fear of death. Those who know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior have no fear of the fading light but welcome what has been promised as a new beginning or eternal journey without end.
I see your point. I as a christian understand your side of the argument however it does not always have to be about fear of death but rather the love of living if that makes any sense?
The high sparrow
Interstellar music would be awesome
Wait… I’ve never seen this NPC at Firelink-Shrine. Is this a new mod ?
Rock song version here: czcams.com/video/maWuzRzTAvU/video.html
Firelink shrine theme?
spoken like a true high sparrow.
I find that this poem is perfect for what we as the American nation will now have to endure; four dark years of Trump. This poem is a call for all of us who have worked so hard to make progress on so many fronts to not stop fighting for good and light, but to "rage.... rage against the dying of the light". I'm so glad that Dylan Thomas wrote this poem.... it really is one of my favorites.
Alex Areeda I feel so sorry for people in the USA who did not want this. The way he spoke so crassly about grabbing women and all the other rubbish is just so shocking. I have teenage daughters, who are horrified. I agree, an apt poem, written about the forthcoming death of his farther, but equally applicable to any worthwhile endeavour.
Alex Areeda two things: this poem is about death, and it is not originally Dylan thomas
That is the most contrived interpretation of this poem that I have ever heard.
Alex Areeda Donot insult such a poem with petty politcs.
Alex Areeda I'm sorry you feel that way. He really was a better choice than Hillary. Trust me, we'd have already been nuked if she won.
So is it a thing now to get old men to read this poem.
Hold up.. is this the Dark souls 3 Betrayal theme, when you're in the darkened Shrine?
Nope. It's the firelink shrine soundtrack from dark souls 1
Bernie sanders?
Pope Francis?
+Ciaran Conway high sparrow?
I caught the resemblance too.
Shaheed Kamanzi it's actually his cousin. I'm surprised you noticed that.
Not true.
Seems like Dylan Thomas was against the age of men. He probably linked the fire.
do you really think its possible to hear what he is saying while that music is playing?
No.
Its necessary.
The music reminds me of dark souls
abdelali bentahar well I mean, it is from Dark souls
Hol up-
what is the song? also good job
Africa by Toto
Firelink Shrine?
Isn't that what the people in dark souls are doing when they keep the bonfires alight? Raging against the dying of the light.
Smn said not to stare into darkness 4 2 long becouse it might stare back.
Obviously that smn never tried studying english language n its perks.
he didn’t even use the book
Enters the wormhole*
*firelink shrine flashbacks*
why so passive....no rage
Eleven people didn't rage against the dying of the light
What's in the case?
What's up with the dark souls music
Dark Souls soundtrack seems a bit ironic..
Ik, the amount of deaths in darks souls is meant to show show how expendable your character is and nullifies the value of life where this increases the importance.
Isn't it more about the dying of the world, wich in dark souls is a dying of the light or sun, flame?
Would have been better without the fire link shrine OST
beautiful piece of poetry hijacked by nerds and their video games
Kcuf elgoog Hijacked? How can art be hijacked? Some people just enjoy it differently than you. Don't be a pretentious ass.
Seen as the medium of video games and "nerd culture" is evolving each day more complex, flourishing with the passion of those who believe in it. There will come a day when the evidence brims so clear, your words will, without even your consent, have to run and hide with shame. You do not possess enough information on the subject to make such a statement. It has happened many times before through history, emerging arts despised by narrow minded contemporaries sitting comfortably on renowned and unchallenged references. With that mind set, You'll always be late to the party my friend.
Kcuf elgoog u better get that head off the 80s vibes mate u dont wanna roll around with short shorts nowadays
I’d say listening to poetry is more nerdy than playing video games.
