  • Hey guys! I know it's been a long time since ive uploaded a new tutorial but here it is, and stay tuned because many more will be coming!
In this tutorial i will show you how to teach your horse to be respectful while training with treats which i know can be a big issue for a lot of horses. Remember to be patient with your horse and that training takes time and consistency.
    Tips:
    * if you aren't able to make a click sound with your mouth you can find clickers at pretty much any pet store.
    * When i know i will be doing a clicker training session i cut up carrots in really small pieces so that i do not end up feeding my horse too much.
    * Keep some "high value" or really yummy treats in a different pocket to reward BIG efforts!
    * Keep your sessions short! Or at least mix it up, this kind of training is very mentally demanding and most horses will start to disconnect after some time.

Wouldn't it have been less frustrating for him and saver for you if you worked in protected contact ?

Any tips on how to get the horse to take the treat politely? My horse often takes treats with his lips, but he can also be very mouthy and try to take it very fast with his teeth and he gets a little obsessed a bout it when I try to correct him. I correct him by not giving the treat and I say “gentle” and it often works after a few tries, but I might need something more effective because he seem to forget it everytime 😅

For me backing him up and and than calling him to me while he can see the treat and than I only giving him the treat if he wasn't demanding it worked the best.
