    • @rillangel
      @rillangel Před 7 lety +26

      Sir Mangler the main advantage to a waterjet is it doesnt affect the metals heat treating vs blow torch plus hold tight tolerances vs a laser a wj can cut 10x thicker material at a slower pace of course.

      as it only goes thru sediment filters, not really.. it would at the least require some carbon filtration and go thru a membrane filter or you would risk heavy metal poisoning or other types of health risks due to the dissolved metal contents of the water that sediment filters wont remove. let alone the bacterial and microbial contents of the water that would be contained in it from the sand and crap rotting that has settled for a while..

    • @LiezerZero
      @LiezerZero Před 7 lety +7

      +ShnitzlHaus Come to think of it.. Yea, it would be difficult to filter out of the rock particles from the non-Ferrous particles, and yes it would probably cost more to clean the sand then it would be to buy it.. but then again they use Garnet instead of normal beach type sand. The process would be the same tho and not very cost effective..

    • @dannooo548
      @dannooo548 Před 7 lety +3

      At the shop I work at periodically, they have a fancy filtration system which pumps the tank water up into a large (3ftx3ft or so filter bag to recycle the garnet. The water gets pretty clear after settling- hardly anything is left in the tank.

    • @ShnitzlHaus
      @ShnitzlHaus Před 7 lety

      interesting, I assume this would be cycled after a job to keep the garnet in suspension? (yes I see now garnet not sand, using that interchangeably) curious enough to look into that and the life cycle.

    • @andy4an
      @andy4an Před 7 lety +10

      height is a problem. did you see the bowling ball video? the ball is only 8.5" tall, and it made a terrible cut at the bottom of it. you could just stack the material high enough to prevent a cut.

    • @MattWeber
      @MattWeber Před 7 lety +16

      That is more just a speed issue, there isnt much a water jet cant cut if actually take the time to set it to match the material hardness. For these videos it appears simply to be ran in manual control and if they see the water spray back up (moving too fast so the jet didnt fully cut thru), you can see they move it back and finish the cut thru a hair slower.

I would highly recommend fitting an abrasive removal system. Quite a simple process and save's having to dig the tanks out every 6 months. We have to clean out our waterjet every few months. We did it by hand for years. Then found out our county landfill will take it. so we have a septic pumper truck come in and do it. A lot less labor intensive. They just need a garden hose to keep the sand wet so the pump can suck up the sand easily.

    Man you guys should invest in the ebco filtration system and a Xtraxtor garnet removal system. I have it and it is great. Run the Xtraxtor while the machine is cutting and keep the tank pretty clean. We leave metal debris in the bottom of the tank to deflect the jet and protect the bottom from excess wear.

    The garnet doesn't "help" cut the metal, that is the material that cuts the metal. the water is only there to cool and act as a vessel to accelerate the garnet

    You guys need to get an abrasive removal system. We use an Ebbco unit and have never had to use heavy equipment to clean our tank. We just use a forklift to pull the big bag out of the hopper every 4000lbs of abrasive.

    I ran waterjet machines for 5 years 3 the same as yours and must have cleaned over 60 tanks out. The big 10 meter tank had to be cleaned out with a mini digger and took at least 2 full days 😂

    • @derekhughes1805
      @derekhughes1805 Před 7 lety

      Jake Spencer My last shop had garnet filters that kept the tanks nearly garnet free. Only drained them to clean out the slugs, drops and cut slats once a year! it was amazing!

    • @jakespencer1408
      @jakespencer1408 Před 7 lety

      derek hughes a few of the machines I ran had sand tracks in the bottom of the tank that would scrape the sand out into a skip but little bits of metal would drop into the tank and jam the track so the sand would just fill up. I used to cut a lot of 30mm titanium for army helicopter blades and that would beat the hell out of the slats the thickest titanium I cut was 175mm at about 12-15mm per minute and that just destroyed them 😂

    The tank should be on wheels and deigned to roll up on a flatbed with a tail gate so you could go and dump the load, let it dry and reclaim the garnet. If you had two tanks then production would never stop.
