This is my favorite zone in the game. I spent so much time farming herbs/thorium that I totally fell in love with it. I love just wandering around this zone every now and then and exploring all the corners are shores. What a great zone
Like shimmering flats for all the q that get you started on your leveling trip and gets you a lot of followups. Also gets you the flight paths you'll need later. The Alliance one at the border to Feralas and the Tanaris one. Also pick up the book near the entrance if ally for some cheap experience.
I've always felt this way. People hate the "shape" of the zone but that makes it feel much more real. It even makes it feel more dangerous and uncharted. When I tried GW2 I just could never get over how artificial and "safe" all the zones felt. Like they were just rectangular spaces to "do game stuff" Compare that to Azshara, Thousand Needles, Searing Gorge... etc.
You forgot to mention a goblin that resides on top of a mound between blood elves and satyr camp called Kim'Jael, who has 2 quest that comes along nicely with Betrayed and the other one with nagas on the coast. There are quite few interesting things about this zone. The NPC that teleports you into xylems tower used to have a prequest required to collect hipogryph feathers in earlier vanilla patches. In one of the bays on southern shore there is a group of friendly pirates. They have a quest to protect them of incoming waves of naga. It seems as it was supposed to be a large questing hub but unfortunately it was never finished as the whole single quest gives only 600xp and is repeatable for some reason. The horde rune quest has an alliance counterpart which involves extracting the gathered runes my a gyrocopter way out in the ocean. There is a gigantic gate leading into the mount Hyjal. It was most likely a concept for Furlborg themed battleground or dungeon that was possibly also connected to other battleground structures left behind in open world in souther part of the zone.
100% agree. I played SoM (Or "world of consumes, how we call it) until naxx and I lived in azshara. I know all the herbing routes and can walk the walk with my monitor turned off. Also remember the nice elemental fishing ponds there
TBH never really digged Azshara like that, I just love WoW and the general uniqueness to every zone. This game was the best most addicting I've ever played, played it since open beta until possibly 10-11 years before stopping. What a f'ing magical experience. Was S1 Gladiator at one point, did many 40 man raids etc/pve, saw it all. I love this game and the zones/music themes. What an incredible achievement this was lol, so f'ing addicting.

I'm with you, I quite like Azshara. But my favorite zone is a toss between Arathi Highlands and The Hintherlands. Both a little underdeveloped zones with great music and ambiance.
I often play the soundtrack to "Jane Eyre" (a movie) when leveling through Azshara because it has a very mysterious and calm soundtrack that fits very well with the zone. This fixes the one problem I have with the zone--the music. Because Vanilla has so many zones, music is re-used a lot, and paints the zone as an uninhabitable zone, but it's more of a mysterious autumn zone.
Your commentary is so soothing and easy to listen to. I think you'd be doing us all a favor if you started streaming. I know there's alotta baby noises in the background in reality, but I believe most of us would still be there
I've always found Teldrassil to be beautiful. You are questing in this massive, mystical forest and then you find out that you're actually on top of a world tree. Ironically the zone looks goofy af when viewed from outside, but it's so gorgeous whilst leveling.
U forgot the trinket quests that lead to Sunken Temple. For hunter, it is the devilsaur eye, an amazing trinket and it takes like 2h of farming for the quests.
I know that I have leveled there at some point and also visited a few times for Molten Core douses, but I honestly can not remember a single quest there. I don't dislike the zone or anything, I just... nothing it
I'll say this, I'm not sure if it's just because you are overleveled or because it's TBC, but doing this zone at an appropiate level in vanilla gave me a FUCKTON of exp with minimum effort, it's unreal. I never did it until Classic and since then I tell everyone that walking through Azshara on their leveling is a MUST unless they hate easy exp.
One thing i never really understood about private servers is why they do not add quests to dead zones. Like bro. Also add a few to the others of course to shake things up. Servers are now finally starting to do that, but geez. Like if i wanted to play BC ill just play on the classic wow servers. Also there are soooo many servers that are "No changes" Bruh i want something new. Been playing this game since BC. I already played that, over and over.
i think you need to take into account that you are playing on a server that has 2x XP rates when saying that the zone gives "good xp", playing on a normal xp rate server (or even official classic wow) will be most people's view on the zone.
You are factually incorrect. Clearly the best zone is Eversong Woods. Pre legion, as an alliance main I use to port to the plaguelands on my DK main, and just run up to Eversong to just chill. I'd path of frost and sit outside Silvermoon on the lake on a lil pad and just listen to the music, looking at the trees, and magic trees. Far superior to Azshara. Based on science and years of study. Yup. When it comes to questing, even as an alliance main I have lvled 100s of belfies over the years, just to redo the zone over and over again. I know it inside and out and could explain it all without even being in game. On the opposite end is the gote starting area which I fucking loath. I can't stand anything about it, the questing, the layout, the colors, even the music is meh. The only zone who's questing I enjoy more than belfie land is the DK starter questing. When I first finally got the ability to make a DK back in the day, I was so happy to be rid of my shitty warrior I nearly deleted him before making my DK. And for the next week after I just would make a new DK on a new server, do the starting zone, then log out and go to a new server to do it again. This is how I found out there was a character limit of 50. I enjoy being the bad guy in games.
Azshara is kinda meh imo, My favorite vanilla zones are Eastern/Western Plaguelands, all of khaz modan, Arathi Highlands, Hinterlands, and hillsbrad foothills/Alterac Mountains. I always prefered the northern half of eastern kingdoms tbh, especially since i usually play dwarves But sadly for any zone, nothing beats the undeniable KING OF ZONES, Grizzly Hills

Thousand needles in cata is my favorite. Love the fact that it gets flooded and your hub is a floating city. So freaking cool

there were a few more quests at the start of the zone but yeah. Azshara was mostly a skip zone. I went back for Azuregos and to farm Demonic Runes lol
