  • In this video we’re going to look at CK3’s combat mechanics. In our last video we explored stacking prestige modifiers and whilst messing with the cool knight perks from the Gallant Tree, I couldn't help but notice how devastating my champions had become. So, in this video, in addition to covering battle mechanics and army composition, well take a look at how to build powerful Knights from stacking effectiveness bonuses and why they’re so strong.

    If you guys enjoy a more Narrative style of playthroughs, check out my latest video Project: Danelaw czcams.com/video/KBvz8bxv830/video.html This was inspired by a comment on one of my previous series and advances the ongoing storyline we have for our Sens Dynasty.
    Please enjoy.

    Did you guys know that if your champions wounds/kills someone, they gain prestige? The amount they gain depends on who they wound/kill. So for example, if they wound a king, they'll earn a lot of prestige, all the more if they kill him.

    Pretty great video mate, keep it up, maybe you could make a guide on how to build up your domain more effectively and maybe make a sort of excel chart for cost and return based on time for each building (considering that certain buildings are limited by terrain, it would be useful to know what to build and what to prioritize)

    Wow! I didn't know besieging army counted as attacking force when battling relieve force! I though it was a bug! Thanks!

      That was what I thought too, I figured I misread something but it definitely appears that this is the case.

    Do I understand it right, that the pop-up window with battle outcome estimation does not consider knights? So it may show that you'll lose or have equal chances based on the levy and men-at-arms counts, but if you have more and better knights you'll surely win?

    Does anyone know if there’s overflow damage? For example war elephants have 250 base damage while levies have 10 health. Does a war element kill 25 levies per hit or does it only kill 1? Knowing this is important in determining which units are really worth using.

    • @SmonteGaming
      @SmonteGaming  Před 3 lety +2

      I wish there was some way to see the tick by tick battle detail, maybe I'll see if there is a way to look in the debugging menu. In any case, I believe it should work that way otherwise, if there was no "overflow," a lot of that damage would just be wasted.

    • @Livingvapour
      @Livingvapour Před 3 lety +2

      @@SmonteGaming Well my thought is your one knight for example should "kill" 765 levies per engagment so if there are 4 engagements in the attacking phase he and 1600 levies should beat 3200 levies easily but we know that wouldnt happen. I feel theres probably some overflow but its not 1:1 this is why i argue horse archers are so damn strong compared to every other unit with their insane base stats while not being to high to be wasted.

    • @SmonteGaming
      @SmonteGaming  Před 3 lety +1

      Without seeing any numbers in game I'm just thinking out loud here: I believe this particular knight would be balanced by the fact that his toughness is 765 and thus 77 levies worth of damage should take him out. Maybe it has some sort of ordering where there's a chance the 77 levies worth of damage hits the knight before he can swing at times?

    • @Livingvapour
      @Livingvapour Před 3 lety

      @@SmonteGaming that makes sense to me. and furthers my point as to why war elephants suck and horse archers are the best lol. better to have more even stats probably why most people favor Heavy infantry since they have almost as much toughness as attack.
