Wow. Thanks for the great explanation about direct and geared motors.
Glad it was helpful!
Ive narrowed my search down to this bike or the Rize. Thank you for this video.
That thing looks fun. Weather looks great out there. I think the aostirmotor will be my next bike. Great review. Love the variety of riding you do!
Thanks, going to get some of these out on the mountain trails in videos coming soon
Great video. I was looking for real info and you did it !!!! Well put together video too.
This video helped me to decide to purchase one....no regrets....fantastic e-bike !
Great video, I've been looking at this bike online but wasn't sure about the quality. Glad i stumbled across your video when i googled reviews on this monster. 👍
Great video thank you for the gear drive explanation.
Great video! Good to see a direct drive hub at 1500 watts vs what geared hub motors can do at the same wattage.
Thanks for watching and dropping a comment, I also really enjoyed observing the differences between typical geared hub motors and this direct drive!
My 1,000 watt geared hub Bafang is much stronger and faster. But All Ariel Rider bikes would be using a modified 1,000 watt Bafang.
Addicted to watching ur videos
Quality video. Nice editing
Much appreciated! thanks for watching
Great vid as always. How was the seat? Comfortable? Thx, Craig
Thank you for your well done and interesting reviews. I am looking to buy the new Aostirmotor 1000w Queen step-thru bike. I hope you can get one for reviewing soon because i can not find any review on that model.
Great video !! Because of you , I just bought it ! I’m in Montréal, Canada. Thanks again my man !!
same here! I watched his review 3 times and took in details that I missed. My only problem is I encountered two false store fronts! Saved by pay pals plans. Newegg and ebay both have an official store! Be sure it is official! I look forward to riding.
How is the bike ?
@@bgd73how is it ?
Gatineau here… I’ve had mine since May, 650kms so far…a couple of small issues, but overall I’m satisfied… heavy bike, man… make sure your battery doesn’t run out… I’ll try finding a post I put up on another CZcams channel and paste it here…
I got my s18 in September and its amazing to see how much of it is actually different than the one you received.
Different controller
Different controller location
Different screen
different graphics on the screen
different handle grips
different brakes
different seat
My battery has some sort of a sticker on the sides where as yours does not
both seem to have arrived with the tail light brutally removed from the frame as well
And I purchased that optional rear rack and installed a second battery on it
my bike also arrived with a messed up derailleur and vent guard... that guard sucks, it will bend into the derailleur any time it gets touched if the bike gets dropped or even leaned against a tree or something, I plan to make a much more robust and substantial one to replace the stock guard with
you dont need a derail guard unless you,re jumping off boulders and planning to land sideways. no serious mountain bike/r uses a d guard (or a kickstand), so why would you need one riding on pavement or park trail. bad shipping seems to be the best use case.
It's strange I can't find the second battery kit for the s18 on aostirmotors site anymore. They took it down. I hope it shows back up at one point.
I like this bike a lot but there is one problem for people that would want to upgrade the battery I don't think there is enough space to put another big battery on that frame or to even replace it with another battery model.
True, it fits in there very snuggly. I actually have a review on another full suspension electric bike coming soon with a much larger battery, but also a larger price tag.
There is an optional rear rack you can get from Aostirmotor for $70. It is quite large and sturdy. You could mount a huge battery on that thing if you wanted.
I just purchase the bike thanx for the info
I would say a good gear upgrade and a controller shunt mod would make this thing a lot better.... Probably a rear shock upgrade too wouldn't be a bad idea.
Would that be expensive ?
I’ve owned an S18 Snakeskin since May, have put 600kms on it so far. I’ve gotten it to 49km/hr. It’s heavy, it’s big and some components are definitely on the lower quality side of things. However the main piece is there, you can upgrade all the parts. In the 600kms I’ve ridden, the only issues I had were a small knock in the steering, which is most likely a bearing, a kick stand that keeps loosening. Also some of the drilled holes into the frame for the cover plate which covers the kickstand bolt and the wiring coming from the controller are not great. I have one screw that doesn’t tighten down. The instructions /manual is poorly done. I work on cars so I can fix this bike easily. I’ve already ordered new brake pads, the front brake cable wire tip made it’s way between the pads and rotor and scored up the pad a bit. That shouldn’t have happened. All that being said, I love the bike nonetheless. I can do around 45 km on a single charge, using pedal assist 1 and keeping it at around 15km/hr. It performs best at PA3 and 7th gear running at around 20-25 km/ hour. Once I ran out of battery, it was a b🤬tch peddling that beast back home for around 4 kms. But it’s a looker, the kids see it and love it. “Hey look! A monster truck bike!”😂. the tires could be of better quality also imo. I hope this helps.
Yes! Thank you for the info
where could you make upgrades to it?
I’ve been researching E bikes, and have learned more from your videos than anywhere else. I’m in the market for bike and have it narrowed down to 5 or 6 bikes now. It’s so hard to decide? This bike seems like it doesn’t have much low end power but does ok at speed?
🙏 thanks, i’m glad it’s helping you learn. Yes, that’s pretty much the case on this direct drive hub motor, as I kind of explain in that little section, the geared hun motors tend to you have better low end power for hill climbs and snappy acceleration from a stop while direct drives are happier once at cruising speeds
Wow, Awesome Bike.
Love my camo bike from oyster motor..wish my battery 🔋 lasted a little longer...great ideas in the comments... gunna try the new sprocket for pedaling at higher speeds
Let us know how it turns out! Happy riding :)
Nice that the light has on off switch love that! Why they have the lights on, for safety BS just uses battery
That's one fast bike Matt!! How smooth did it ride on city streets with that suspension?
excellent compared to hard tail bikes! 😆
I think I like the camo, but more hill climbing would be a good thing. Thanks!
I wonder if changing the front sprocket would help not having to ghost pedal so much?
It may sound stupid, but what is the diameter of the wheel with tire. Is it 26 in or 29 in? On Amazon they say 26... I got a 29. Which is to high for me. I'm only 5"10"".
I don't know how you can run so many stop signs with out getting a ticket. I rode all over the South Bay in the '60s. Some police would ticket you fot not putting your foot down. I've been tidketed for 35 in a 25 on a bike. We have bike paths now, we are lucky to use ebikes on them, be cool. I am amazed you can ride on the beach, as a ex life gaurd that would not be allowed in the '60s.
I do enjoy the videos, they take me back home.
Not sure I would sell my Ariel Rider Kepler and get this one. 👍 .. Good look at the bike. Nice job.
Kepler is the fastest! Looking forward to trying one soon!
@@TailHappyTV cheap bike but not that bad.. I like it 👍
Very impressive. Not my type of bike, but the motor looks huge & the battery looks small. I was engineering the other way. That looks fun. 30 mph on a bike is a rush.
I feel all the controllers will allow you to reduce the current maximum and the power of assistance at each level. Settings offer a wide range.
You need the lower gearing to compensate for the low speed torque lacking in the motor. Personally, I am happy to travel at 6-12 mph. A 350 watt geared motor serves me.
The range of an ebike is not a formal measurement. I think the question is how many hours are you usually going to spend riding? If I carry camping gear out for a night, I may only be looking at 3 hours of travel. My use is only about 160 watts. 36 volt battery gives me about 10 amp hours, & I use about 4.5 an hour at the very most. 30 or 40 miles, is withing range of an average fit person without assistance. I'm just guessing, the average ebike will comfortably double your fitness range.
I replaced the 42t sprocket for 52t and added 3 more chain links. Now no more fast peddling.
Nice, what’s the top speed now?
Waiting on mine to be delivered, probably going to do the same!
Had 32 mph out of it.@@TailHappyTV
Did that increase your speed at all?
@@moonshadowranch realistically, I think right around 32 would be the max capable of this Bike with the stock controller in stock battery, that motor on the other hand, could take more power if you gave it, a stronger, controller and battery
Can you do the review for the same bike but the 750w
How many ebikes do you have and what do you do with them all?
It uses a pretty low current controller. Even geared with that low of current is going to struggle on hills without pedal assistance
good video friend, one question, this bike comes from the factory with limited speed, can you enter the system configuration and unlock it to reach a higher speed??
I forget actually, I wouldn’t expect much more too speed than what you see in this video even if it is unlocked, the battery and controller just isn’t strong enough to do more realistically
I have owned one for 2 1/2 years and covered 2600 miles of Spanish mountain tracks very rough, I mean real up and downhill Rough and never a problem (Ok I replaced the seat ) but with my 200lbs hey what do you expect,,
#fyp 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 #amazing #review I bought #one 🎉
i was trying to find out where the controller on this bike was to upgrade it then i found out it is in the hub motor o well still nice bike for the price
dang, I didn't know that
does it come with that top speed or do you have to unlock it
I just recently got mine for Christmas and it's says error 08 can someone help me? Thanks
I think if you had two of these motors like dual that would beat hills and wind better. I live in the Windy City of Chicago lol and around here which is actually a suburb there’s plenty of hills thus the name lake in the hills but even in neighboring towns there’s plenty of hills. Hills do not really bother me it’s the wind because wind follows you one way or another the entire time.
Good day sir
Brooklyn, New York,
Happiness about your video, might become an owner of the bike plus more!
Also I’m apart of the smart work not hard work…Less talking more “writing”.
Write back so I can tell you more about smart and it’s privilege!!!
What's is your recommendation for first ebike The Aostirmotor S18 or Asomtom Q7? Please help me with your comments!
ASOMTOM is not full suspension
Low end controllers limit performance and features on bike at this price point
Better controllers don't determine SOC using voltage level, they use a coulomb counter.
Lowe's sold something similar to this at one point. Quietkat I think it was called.
If you’re talking about the Jeep brand model that thing costs as much as a car 😆
@@TailHappyTV I think was the Ranger. Was around 2k when on sale.
Does it come with a bigger battery option
No
This bike sort of shows how you shouldn't need to spend >$3k to get a full suspension ebike.
How to buy in Europe
I need you to get a Kepler to review
I’d love to
Im 5'4 and im worried this bike and the wired freedome might be to tall??
These bikes are too big for you. Get a step thru frame with 20 inch wheels
@@TailHappyTV I'm looking for full Suspension though??? Any suggestions??
Or any on your channel you have reviewed??
@@Rue2love many
The bike is solid and my Ebike conversion went great. czcams.com/users/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Very smooth ride at 30mph with no problems (135 miles ridden so far). The picture is a bit deceiving - there is WAY less space in the center of the frame than it shows. The suspension connection takes up the entire thing. So I needed to attach my battery on the bottom of the frame and my controller on the top. Instructions for assembly were lacking but honestly it wasn't too hard to figure out even though I have very little bike knowledge. Watched some youtube videos on adjusting the disk brakes but that was it. Still, I am loving it and very happy with the purchase.
Dude! That sign on top of that post that is bright red says STOP 🛑!!!
Great video but your giving E-bike riders a bad name.
I guess this has grown to the point I need to set a good example and follow all the rules
@@TailHappyTV 😂 sorry dude! I like your videos a lot and appreciate all the time and effort you put into them.
I’m trying to get one and when my wife sees you ride then she has all the ammunition to say no!
Do you have to stop at 🛑 signs in California? In Idaho you are allowed to treat them as yield signs on a bike....
How much does it weigh?
77 lbs.
I wonder why only got 3.8 rating on amazone
wish it had 20ah battrey
is that a gearless motor???
correct
kenvitatoe E bike ❤😊😊
You never said exactly what price this budget bike is
Its snakeskin not camouflage
You’re right
In general, your videos are great, but don't become one of those reviewers who compare e-bikes to motorcycles. People who do that just are not trustworthy. You are a better reviewer than that.
😆 thanks man, I understand there is a clear difference, which I why I created a separate channel for e-motorcycles: www.youtube.com/@JuicedJoyrides
there is a blurry line sometimes
@TailHappyTV I subscribed to it. I am good with something like a Sur Ron being compared to a motorcycle. They are pretty close as far as ebikes go.
You call it a budget bike. How rich are you for a $1500 to $2000 dollar bike to be budget
Is it me or does this guy run a lot of stop signs
8:43
Stop signs are for the weak 😂
I don't know why in 2023 we are still using freewheels.
Freewheels ?
Why cant we just look at the bike.......... no jerky cuts.
You mean like on google 😂
Don’t have to stop in mn,the Karen’s on here are thirsty!
Only a matter of time till the police enforce the rules. Most e-bikes are illegal
Most ebikes are set up and shipped out as class 2. Perfectly legal in my state.
Blatant disregard for traffic laws and safety is giving ebikers a bad reputation. Please at least show a basic level of compliance in your videos.
Noted
Thank you Officer Karen 🧏♀️😂

@@darwinspeacock W⚓
Ebikers a bad reputation?
If you have an ounce of self reflection, just know that making up a problem so that you can complain is the most obnoxious kind of Karen.
There is no way you have a sense of "ebiker's general reputation". Zero.
People like you never have the ability to be objective about their behavior, but you can't say no one ever told you.
You don't understand what a stop sign means.
It's ugly.
@@FredPhillip601 What are you talking about?
A.switch to road tires in the tuck position would probably get you up to 35-36 mph
