When you grasp the true meaning and the reality of it all it is very moving. This one forgotten 80's song lays out in beautiful simplicity the actual history of our universe. Take this song as the truth of the matter, melding the core of all major religions into a 5 minute song. There is the single creative spirit, his creation and creative counterpart Indian traditions call Shiva and Shiva's dance being the Hide and Seek. I would suggest anyone interested in exploring this to look up two terms. "Ein Sof" and "Solar Logos". This song is quite simply about Ein Sof and Solar Logos.
BTW the hide and seek is birth and death .... so that with each new life you must seek again. At the end of the day there is only one consciousness. Our small portion of consciousness contained in our temporary vessel/body must learn and forget over and over again.
Howard Jones was a giant of the eighties. His synthesiser expertise was obvious. The songs that went with them hauntingly brilliant. Hide and seek was my fave being a twenty year old at that time. I salute you SIR for your contribution to the eighties scene. If I get a reply that would be the icing on the cake.
Absolutely, this is hauntingly brilliant masterpiece with very clever lyrics and incredible use of keyboards producing mouth watering sounds that flow beautifully
Possibly the most genuine and authentic of all of the 80's acts. He appears to have great metaphysical knowledge. I always turn to a bit of Howard when the world feels too hard.
Oh God, I miss the 1980s. I bought Human's Lib as a wide-eyed 18-year old. I had a job, a car, great friends, cool bars and pubs to hang out in. Exuberance and possibilities ruled the day and the future promised even better to come. Take me back. We were completely lied to. This time period is a dystopian nightmare!!!!
I think we were riding the wave of a post ww2 economy and the prosperity for some was reflected in the music, fashion and art. Ultimately, it was all an illusion. If you take a step back and look what record companies did, they sold things made from oil and trees. They used musical and graphic art to do it. The 80s was not great for everybody. The UK manufacturing, ship building or mining industries for example. It was a horrible time for them as their jobs were deemed unessential, 40 years before the rest of us were told the same thing. But I agree, the distraction was better than reality. Plug me back into the Matrix.
Howard Jones came to a little church in Northern Virginia in the 90’s and I waited in a long line to thank him for kinda saving my life. With this song especially, at a time I was negotiating these same turbulent channels and challenges. It was so sweet, his response. I will never forget his wisdom and kindness.
What a talented guy. He should be in the hall of fame. This song gives me tears tbh. A timeless masterpiece that should be played when mankind is gone like a legacy of soul and passion in an eternal void. A powerful message of a civilization that existed for a short time in the universe. Maybe no one will ever hear or understand it when we are gone but Howard was one of the best in an era when music was the ultimate expression of feelings and artistic excellence
This is a track of pure beauty. My favourite Howard Jones song. I remember him playing "Hide and Seek" live on TOTP. A calculated risk perhaps, but the performance was simply stunning 🧡
Oj jak ja dawno nie slyszalam tego utworu. To był jeden z lepszych kawałków lat 80tych. Kocham muzyke lat 80tych. H.J. jeden z tych ktorzy wnieśli wkład niesamowitej muzy tamtych czasów. Ta piosenka jedna z tych Naj!
As everyone is saying Howard...all of your music are masterpieces...I'm finding comfort listening to it, just lost my father 5 days after he was diagnosed with bladder cancer & my Mom is not long for this world either. Thank you for letting me lose myself in your hard work Howard. Music is so powerful...as I know you've known all along. God Bless & Thank you
Bought this single in '84 and the song has stayed with me ever since, utterly wonderful and as deep as the Universe.... I hope you find it in everything you see. Thanks, Howard.
I'm never tired of hearing this it takes me back to my eighties childhood days of college. Now I'm 54 and I listen to the lyrics and I'm always haunted by the melody and subject. I'm still trying to find what I seek
Howard Jones was ahead of his time with his songs and, most importantly, the lyrics and messages behind them. I've been listening to Human Lib a lot more frequently; from what I understand from his songs, he is trying to send a vital message to humanity through his music. "Hunt and Self" and "Conditioning" are as powerful as this one is. It's only up to us to decide whether we want to improve and thrive as a human species and one day conquer the stars or fall into war and deprivation and get sent back into the stone age.
The sentiments expressed in this song have always reached right in, pulled at my heartstrings & then my tears fall. Poignant, powerful, sensitive & so very beautiful.
Yes and a game we all consent to play before we arrive here.. The real purpose of each life experience is to learn lessons about the self and to progress on a spiritual level for each lesson we learn.. We are all connected as one because we all come from the same source where we all go back to eventually… This planet is merely a breif encounter we experience as a spiritual being living a human exsistence and is a test to see how we deal with certain aspects of this life that we encounter… The line he sings ‘hope you find me in you’ is a perfect example of how spiritual Howard jones is because what he means is that we are all intrinsically linked as one from the same source so you are me and I am you and we’re merely a different expression of the same source energy… I don’t mind admitting this song brings tears everytime I hear it because as things stand people are so divided by opinions politics and religion they will never realise we are all actually the same and from the same place where we will go back to at the end of this lifetime experience
It’s a no-brainer. A free, exuberant and dynamic time period compared to a horrid, soulless prison planet that we’re suffering under now.... I’d give anything to feel that excitement now!
Easily one of the greatest musicians of the 1980s.....I loved him when I was a kid....and I love his music even now....to me, he's timeless.....on you, Hazza....
Absolutely beautiful - a part of my soul - with the ultimate universal theme - that's why this song will never date. I hope young people find it. We can all relate. Thanks Howie.
Hugely underrated artist , writer and performer . Top man from a top era . This song epitomises the wonder and beauty of the eighties. I can’t go back physically but frequently visit it mentally and this song takes me back . Great job 🎉❤
a true work of universal consciousness entwined around the origins of creation, Not the religious type, but an infinite, eternal mind of staggering intelligence beyond the comprehension of our perceptions, yet ever present in everything that you see. amazing song
Yeah, HoJo 😉 didnt get his props. They liked dismissing these 80s musicians as one hit wonders & Im guessing they werent big fans of synthesizers either. But there were some really good artists that continued to put out great music, even to this day, but are still only considered as 80s one hit wonders.
HoJo was a very important influence in high school. And this song resonates. I remember running this down over and over on vinyl. So profound and elegant. "Nothing at all... just a distant hum..."
Unarguably one of my all-time favorite songs. It will always remind me of a very intense and bittersweet time in my life. I listen to it once a year at least.
Hauntingly beautiful , there was something magical about the early/ mid 80's which won't come around again , seems most folk can't do without their mobile phones these days , nor do we see kids swinging from trees anymore , ah the memories.
In my 11,000-plus song collection there are some 100 songs I awarded a (subjective) score of 4 maximum stars. This is one of them. Absolute masterpiece! They don't come round too often ... best to spot them when they do! And talk about lush synth padding ... that's how it should be done!
I am transported back in time when I hear this song to a special time with a special someone listening to this song. We have the songs to take us back to those special times. Such sweet good memories.

Just breathtaking. Takes me back to collage days and roaming around the photographic studios while other students were doing their thing. This was often blaring from the little transistor "gettoblasters" of the day.
There was a time when I thought this was the best song ever made. Sometimes I still do.....Once and a while, I do miss the eighties. Considering the comments, I'm not the only 1....
Why isn't music like this anymore it's such a shame the world would be such a different place if it was as music is and always been important to the soul
Totally agree. Problem now is you have a certain limited number of song writers in the music industry that write mediocre songs. Ie they are rubbish. We need more independent artists again. Yes the word Artist actually to mean artist not karaoke.
I attended a Howard Jones concert at Kingswood Theater (Toronto) in the early 1980's. An event that would have been lost on a 13 yr old if I wasn't already in tune with his message. The overwhelming response from the audience. So special. That experience lives in me today.
Howard really pushes his voice to the limits on this song its extremely taxing to sing. It really showed that he has some power in that voice. Its not his natural key or comfort zone but it really suits the song & gives it a raw emotional sound.
@@onesong2001 you're taking shit, both those two artists came out with awesome songs, both Howard & nik played a big part in my life back then, was always listening to their albums.
Girls you little liars lol!!! You might have loved Howard's brilliant music but i don't remember girls fancying him or thinking he was hot they were drooling over George Michael,Sting,Bros,Duran Duran,David van Day etc Young boys had to dream of Therese Bazaar,Kim Wilde,Madonna(ok but not sexy)and Sabrina Salerno who could turn a boy into a man she didn't have many songs but she did have some big hits(or have i made a spelling mistake)!
Brings back great and good memories when life was more enjoying in comparison to nowadays.Timeless piece of musical art, better than all that bullshit these days!!
oh memories , h jones, thompson twins ,the cure, echo and the bunnymen , steve strange RIP Heaven 17 , clash , slf , stranglers , xray specs , xtc , so on and so on God we we were so lucky back then , bring it on back please .. great vid love it
Richard Miles I agree, with regards to the music, but I like 2015 better than 1984 in most other ways. society has come a long way since then and I would not want to go back to 1984.
vutEwa I'd go back in a shot. We live in a total 1984 scenario today than the real year Orwell's book was set in. We live under the kind of blanket surveillance the Stasi would have relished, young people did not leave university saddled with gargantuan debts, young people could make a life for themselves without being dependent on mummy and daddy and the idea of 50% youth unemployment would never be tolerated as it is across much of the EU. Today's hysterical safety obsessed culture is pathetic. We had to live under the continual threat of nuclear holocaust between the US and USSR. Now we're frightened to ride our bicycles without the sort of equipment an NFL linebacker would wear. Give me the 80s anyday and the music was original and didn't hinge on who won the latest talent show.
+helmethead72 So true my friend, just reading your comment listening to the music made your words more prolific,we do now live in an Orwellian nightmare, today's music is used to brainwash kids, and gangster rap helps to encourage violence which keeps their private prisons full,I won't start on the masonic symbolism in the videos and at the awards shows,I'd be here all night.
Thanks Barney, the 80's weren't perfect by any stretch. However I consider myself lucky to at least have had the choice at 16 whether or not to stay in school or go out and get a job. Freedom of choice existed then a hell of a lot more than it does today. The sad thing is today's youngsters will have no idea what we're talking about. Being spied on 24/7 seems hunky dory to them as long as they believe the bs from the government about it being there to keep them safe.
Love that atmospheric sound at the beginning. I grew-up listening to his first album Human's Lib all the time. I can see him playing the famous Yamaha DX7 around 1:10. Definitely his music influenced me to love electronic music of the 80's. I bought my DX7 in 1986 and loving ever since. those vintage synths like the Roland Jupiter-8 and Yamaha DX7 are still amazing synths, much better sounds that those modern synths, as they have such a characteristic sound. Evolving and powerful music......... Love the 80's music!
There was a time when there was nothing at all Nothing at all, just a distant hum There was a being and he lived on his own He had no one to talk to, and nothing to do He drew up the plans, learnt to work with his hands A million years passed by and his work was done And his words were these... Hope you find it in everything, everything that you see Hope you find it in everything, everything that you see Hope you find it, hope you find it Hope you find me in you So she had built her elaborate home With it's ups and it's downs, its rains and its sun She decided that her work was done, time to have fun and she found a game to play Then as part of the game She completely forgot where she'd hidden herself And she spent the rest of her time Trying to find the parts Hope you find it in everything, everything that you see Hope you find it in everything, everything that you see Hope you find it, hope you find it Hope you find me in you There was a time when there was nothing at all, nothing at all Just a distant hum
Totally underrated song. The purpose of being so superficial in the lyrics makes it through the melody and composition utterly meaningfull and deep. Well played mr. Jones!
A very powerful song with a great ambient influence. I was three years old when this came out. I can see why the mainstream media and even large parts of the music industry failed to appreciate it at the time and wouldn't have seen a song like this as "cool", but the sounds are literally cool, mysterious, complex and uplifting, with a voice that fits perfectly.
Howard Jones is amazing! I saw him in concert in Brisbane in the mid-80s - the show was incredible (I had front row seats). He engaged, entertained and put on a brilliant show. His music is relevant today and is magical. This song is incredible!
I’m agree with all comentaries&opinions. I’m 58 years old and remember those years as the unforgetable days of my life. LUV THE EIGHTIES. Thanks a lot Mr. Howard Jones. From Spain.
We used to go the Marquee in Wardour Street every time Howie played. The best solo performer ever. Watching him smash that bak of keyboards while following the drum machine was mesmerising. Followed his gigs round the UK and clicked with Goldiggers in Chippenham. A few years later, went back to see what the old club was like and then spent the next year banging tunes to their massive soundsystem and suspended light rig. Soul 2 Soul and Inner City were the tracks...
My god i couldn't agree more Im not just saying as a massive fan but this stands the test of time and stamps all over everything today Mysterious mystical and you flying the whole time your listening pure magic
Great track from great times in my life. Glad I was part of it. A real keyboard player. Good synths back then using the famous DX7 and Roland Jupiter 8 on this track.
The most underrated musician . Wish it was 1983 again. 15 was a good age. 55 now 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Same age bro 😃

Howard Jones came to a little church in Northern Virginia in the 90’s and I waited in a long line to thank him for kinda saving my life. With this song especially, at a time I was negotiating these same turbulent channels and challenges. It was so sweet, his response. I will never forget his wisdom and kindness.
What a talented guy. He should be in the hall of fame. This song gives me tears tbh. A timeless masterpiece that should be played when mankind is gone like a legacy of soul and passion in an eternal void. Paul McCartny called Howard Jones one of his favorite performers, enough said!
Timeless tune ! So reminds me of my childhood growing up in the 80’s. Best decade of music EVER !

Everything About This Song Is Perfect 👌
Anyone who understands this song, well done.
For you understand the entire purpose of creation is nothing more than a wonderful game.
Yes and a game we all consent to play before we arrive here..
The real purpose of each life experience is to learn lessons about the self and to progress on a spiritual level for each lesson we learn..
We are all connected as one because we all come from the same source where we all go back to eventually…
This planet is merely a breif encounter we experience as a spiritual being living a human exsistence and is a test to see how we deal with certain aspects of this life that we encounter…
The line he sings ‘hope you find me in you’ is a perfect example of how spiritual Howard jones is because what he means is that we are all intrinsically linked as one from the same source so you are me and I am you and we’re merely a different expression of the same source energy…
I don’t mind admitting this song brings tears everytime I hear it because as things stand people are so divided by opinions politics and religion they will never realise we are all actually the same and from the same place where we will go back to at the end of this lifetime experience

@@onesong2001 you're taking shit, both those two artists came out with awesome songs, both Howard & nik played a big part in my life back then, was always listening to their albums.
@@Frostie3672 I was a fan of the wombles but I'm not gay for them 40 years later.
Wow! Finally i've found this song, after so many years. What a feeling.
That is one handsome classy man. When I was a teenager in the 80's I had the biggest crush on him.
+Lovely Flower Same! I had posters of him all over my walls
Yeah me too, never stopped really!
Girls you little liars lol!!!
You might have loved Howard's brilliant music but i don't remember girls fancying him or thinking he was hot they were drooling over George Michael,Sting,Bros,Duran Duran,David van Day etc
Young boys had to dream of Therese Bazaar,Kim Wilde,Madonna(ok but not sexy)and Sabrina Salerno who could turn a boy into a man she didn't have many songs but she did have some big hits(or have i made a spelling mistake)!
Brings back great and good memories when life was more enjoying in comparison to nowadays.Timeless piece of musical art, better than all that bullshit these days!!
This Masterpiece Will Be Sounding Trough Eternity When I Leave This Earth. Stay Strong. 🙏🎶😊
music does not come much better than this brill miss the 80 s
agreed
Mark Higgins it was the best alright
Mark Higgins The 80's are the strongest decade of all time. We can thank you for this heritage. 🙏🏼 Thank you for that great Time !
When I played this video just now, I got goosebumps. That's the proof of a great song.

Richard Miles Talk Talk! 8)
1984 was a time when you could release a song like this among your other hits and still succeed!
Les jeunes artistes de cette époque savaient créer des musiques sublimes qui nous font dire en 2021 encore waow ! ❤️🖤
Oh for fucks sake, must you synth nerds drool over every HoJo video?
Was never a fan of the DX7. As someone once said, programming it was like painting the inside of your house through the letterbox.
@@theeltea Err, yes we must. 😁🎹
@@theeltea The distant hum was probably a ground-loop from his Jupiter 8.
@@brhodes0 Ahahahah, spot on!
80s . Old skool. New waves . Punk rock Era
There was a time when there was nothing at all
Nothing at all, just a distant hum
There was a being and he lived on his own
He had no one to talk to, and nothing to do
He drew up the plans, learnt to work with his hands
A million years passed by and his work was done
And his words were these...
Hope you find it in everything, everything that you see
Hope you find it in everything, everything that you see
Hope you find it, hope you find it
Hope you find me in you
So she had built her elaborate home
With it's ups and it's downs, its rains and its sun
She decided that her work was done, time to have fun
and she found a game to play
Then as part of the game
She completely forgot where she'd hidden herself
And she spent the rest of her time
Trying to find the parts
Hope you find it in everything, everything that you see
Hope you find it in everything, everything that you see
Hope you find it, hope you find it
Hope you find me in you
There was a time when there was nothing at all, nothing at all
Just a distant hum
So beautiful
One of the best deepest songs of the 80’s! Gives me goosebumps every time👏🏽♥️
I love Howard Jones. He's just amazing.Loved his music since the 80's
This is one of the greatest songs of the 80s. What a fantastic tune and lyrics.
This was and is a classic , haunting melody. Loved the 80s xj
I’m agree with all comentaries&opinions. I’m 58 years old and remember those years as the unforgetable days of my life. LUV THE EIGHTIES. Thanks a lot Mr. Howard Jones. From Spain.
Beautifully crafted song by Howard Jones. Rather cinematic scale to the synths. Love it.
AFAIK Rupert Hine produced this amazing album... R.I.P. & Thanks to him as to HJ!
WOW! had nt listened to this for 30 years. Love his music
One Of My Favorite Songs Of All Time. Note That He Recorded This Masterpiece In 1983. That's Even More Impressive.
My god i couldn't agree more
Im not just saying as a massive fan but this stands the test of time and stamps all over everything today
Mysterious mystical and you flying the whole time your listening pure magic
Great track from great times in my life. Glad I was part of it. A real keyboard player. Good synths back then using the famous DX7 and Roland Jupiter 8 on this track.
2019 anybody out there!!!!
Timeless masterpiece.
😀😀😀😀
It was a big hit in my childhood a timeless synth pop classic with a certain attitude.
2020💝💝💝💝probably will listen to this un my next life too
Hope you've found it in everything you see.
Thank you Howard for the beauty you have brought to my life
