Making A Wooden Jewelry Box // Woodworking

- I made a wooden jewelry box with a carved lid as a commission. This piece is a gift to celebrate a fifth wedding anniversary. The only requests from the client were to have a drawer and a small section for a watch. The main box is made from Swiss Pear. The removable watch box is made from English Sycamore.

Ok my favorite parts: chiseling and that little itty piece of wood being inserted in. Whoooo. That satisfying feeling.
It’s just as satisfying to make as to watch 😎
LOVE all your videos. And the safety glasses look fantastic on your head while you mill that lumber!!! 😂
Nothing not to adore about this. The timber, the skills, the aesthetic - and the video quality
Thank you tik tok to made it possible to find this channel. These sounds are precious!
Beautiful work again Erik. I'll bring you a #2 Phillips if I ever get to your shop. Made me cringe stripping that brass screw on the final detail lol. Cheers
Since discovering your channel I have learnt a lot, but probably the most important lesson I have taken from you is twofold . . . take your time and think about each “phase” of the operation. It’s taken me far too many years to realise that creating something beautiful doesn’t happen overnight, but being thoughtful, careful and patient will get you there in the end. Thanks, Erik, you have helped this old timer to enjoy his woodwork much more than you will ever know.
That made me smile my guy. I appreciate that feedback!
The sounds of the band saw, router and table saw brought back memories of making sawdust with my dad. He didn't have a planer or jointer but somehow made everything fit. I acquired some of his tools when he passed. Thank you for bringing back the sounds and smells of his shop.
Exquisite work! Swiss Pear and English Sycamore, I was clueless so I googled them...exotic hardwoods. I especially like the whiteness of the English Sycamore and the brass pins. Lovely gift to give and receive!
Thank you! Yes I really love how pale the Sycamore remained. Contrasts beautifully with the warm tones of the pear!
Beautiful box Eric without being over the top. Thank you for the video.👍👍
I love this video. The craftsmanship and skill is so far beyond where I am and probably where I will get to. The simplicity of the lack of voiceover…, thank you.
Beautiful
Thanks!
While I love your usual commentary, this was a pleasing way of changing things up and allowing us a hyper focus on the sights and sounds of a true artist at work. Keep up the great content!
Thank you!
Damn that's slick
Thanks brother 😎👊
Beautiful. Love it. This is exactly the kind of work I want to be able to do one day. Thanks for sharing
Beautiful work (the box and the video). Very soothing to watch.
Beautifully built box 👍
Thank you 😁
Great piece! I especially like the half lap on the lid matching the height of the sides. A nice touch
Thank you! Cheers!
That is awesome! Nice work.
Thanks man!
I really like the carved tops on your box designs. I’m gonna do one along those lines pretty soon. Awesome videos all around
as always, UNBELIEVABLE work and detail ... CONGRATULATIONS
Thank you 😁😁
Wow great work on the box and that was an amazing video to watch.
Thank you 😁
Totally beautiful. Fantastic job. Thanks for sharing. God Bless.
Thank you! Cheers!
Beautiful work!
Thank you so much!
Truly amazing...
Just excellent.
Gorgeous box, love the details and high workmanship. Film is just as well crafted too. Mahalo for sharing! 🙂🐒
Thank you! 😁
Very nice. Love the details.
Loving the wave effect on the top of the box, I am playing around with texture effects at the moment, great inspirational content - thanks 🙏
Beautiful work as usual. Would love to hear a voiceover in terms of why and how you go about things. I always find your insight very valuable. Keep it up dude.
Thank you my man. I'll really consider that for the future but for now I'm enjoying playing with this silent format.
@@ENCurtis I’ll enjoy it either way. Look forward to the next one.
Absolutely beautiful
Thank you 😊
Just wow
Definitely going to borrow that lid design idea…
You make it look so easy, my dude. Seeing your patience and precision in executing the details is simply gratifying. Thanks for sharing. 🤙🏼
Thank you so much brother 👊
Great build. Simplicity with elegance. Also, I can't understand how someone gave this build a "ThumbsDown."
Beautiful work, and I think this is the best video I've seen or yours, Eric. (I'm a subscriber!) The sound track (just the sounds of woodworking) was perfect, as was the camera work. Very interested to see you you carved the top with power rasps. Thanks!
Amazing work! Love the detail you put into your work😎 That box lid is really cool!
Thanks!
Потрясающая работа мой друг!
I just had to watch you one more time.
Gorgeous work. I’ve been loving your videos and they’ve been inspiring me to make more, and to have more fun in my garage workshop.
I have question on this project: was the larger box itself all made from those first two boards? 4/4 or 6/4 resawn to half the thickness to get the long sides, too and bottom out of the larger board, and the ends from the smaller board? (I’m about to start making small boxes from 4/4 and 6/4 hardwood, and trying to figure out if I can make a whole box from as little wood as you showed at the start).
When I first saw this pop-up on my feed as a tiny thumbnail of the sculptured top, I though "Ooo Bacon" (I follow a couple of channels where they smoke meat), turned out that your video is even more succulent than bacon (question to self; "how is wood "succulent"?... asking for a fiend )

@ENCurtis what rotary tool would you recommend/use for the top of box? Thank you inspired me 😁
Awesome!!!! I love the top. Great design. What finish did you apply?
Thanks! It’s my mix of urethane, oil, and wax. You can find the ingredients in my Instagram stories 👍
What school do you teach in ?
ya mann, you can put your wood in there
I’m new to woodworking what’s the name of the tool you used to get the box lid top detailing?
It’s called a flex shaft or a die grinder 👍
@@ENCurtis cheers bud! found the youtube from insta, cracking stuff
Hmmm... I finally followed Ann's advice and took Woodprix. It's great for beginners and has some advanced stuff too.
You do not talk I do not I do not watch. Julien
Word. Thanks for the update, Julien. I was worried how you liked it this whole time.
