Gee Whiz steel is some fine, fine knife steel. It's designed to hold up to a 1500 pound mule pulling his heart out and hitting a stump or boulder and not snap or take a permanent bend. You can't beat it.... Coffee does a good job darkening up a bleached out antler.... Whoever wins this pig sticker is gettin a good blade
Listen to this guy talking about charcoal. I ve been a blacksmith 36 years and if coal is hard to procure, make it. There s nothing better, excellent characteristics. Does an excellent job forge welding.

Nice job on that Bowie! I hadn't thought about a Gee Whiz in forever. Most folks have no idea what that is. Too bad all the meth heads sold all the scrap metal a few years back. Old plows and implements used to be laying around everywhere. You coulda had a good supply to forge with.

I use lump charcoal make it in a 30 gallon old grease drum nice knife
