Man, I am hooked to your work and this idea of a stadium show is just exhilarating. I am from Sikkim and the one sound that I'd like to share is the sound of a Buddhist prayer wherein you'd have a set of instruments playing. While this sound is so comforting when heard in a monastery in the morning, it feels like a nuisance when the same sound plays in at 4 in the morning when you are trying to get some sleep. The difference in how you feel about the same sound at different times is fascinating to me.

My top 3 Indian sounds are:
    1. Tum Dil ki dhadkan mein rehte hoo inside an auto
    2. Tubewell water rushing in through the pipe thingy. Also submersible motor starting up
    3. This one is like a pungent smell which I hate to like, sugarcane mills!
Something you can relate with fully:
Surjeet ma'am shouting in the English period "is this a fish market?"
    Best of luck man!

My dad rode it when he was alive and I could say he was gonna come home even before he took a turn to our street. The sound of a metal hand grinder when my grandma used to make breakfast/lunch/dinner. She used to smash garlic and ginger or pepper or whatever that needs to be smashed! I know I am gonna have tasty food when I hear that sound coz I know for sure that she's cooking. The best 3 sounds of my life 😊. Ok, now I am crying. Thanks a lot man!!

You left me crying. I have spent collectively 5 years in India 🇮🇳
I was mostly near the Bengal sea in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. I could tell the time of day by the sounds. The fishing boats coming back, the calls to prayer, the sound of women sweeping then splashing water, the sound of pressure cookers whistles and grinders as they prepare dosa and lunches. The cows starting to roam the streets, the crows and dogs barking at invaders like monkeys or a stranger in the lane. Then the temple drums with the milk man on the bike ringing his bell. Motorcycles leaving to take children to school or to go to work and rickshaws horns . The whirls birds song and of corse the sounds of A/C. Everyday brings unexpected sounds of weddings funerals or other functions not to neglect the hundreds of festivals. I love India 🇮🇳

Takes me back a lot. The sound of morning school buses outside our houses taking kids from the lane. The sound of the horn of the fishsellers old cycle or scooter. The sound of a newspaper falling infront of our home. And many many more. And how can i forget the old malayalam songs of the greats like yesudas and ks chithra playing on the home stereo and the humming from different members of our home.

the Delhi metro, it's different pitches and arrivals, when it opens its doors and heaves, breathing out people and AC air alike, and the little pings when it closes to move again. Every station sounds unique be it the abandoned power plants at indraprastha or an ever alive kashmiri gate. Among all these the one vishwavidyalaya where the sound of Rickshawallahs vying to take you to your destination remains my pick. It always takes me home to a sweet time.

He has a band where there are all the indian instrumental musicians and fusing with all the cinematic sounds of violins, cellos etc. and all his songs (covers & originals) has very homely indian vibe with international touch. When I went to India in 2006, it was to perform a children’s theatre show called Rainbow Fish. My team has spent 2004 and 2005 touring the show around parts of Europe, Asia, s well as performing it back in our home country of Singapore. Now, in Singapore, we have this bird that everyone has heard but very few ppl have actually seen. We hear it at 5.30 in the morning and when you hear it you just think “fukkkkkk it’s time to get up for work/school. Nooooooo….” But when you DON’T hear it, you miss it. All the time I was traveling for work, I didn’t hear it. But whenever in returned to Singapore and heard it’s unmistakable cries in the morning darkness, I knew I had come home. That bird is the koel. Or as we call it, the “uwu bird”. And the only other country I have traveled to where I could hear this bird, and feel like I was home…is India

    My sounds of India are:
    1. Clinking of the bangles while grinding masala on a stone grinder, tadke(chhounk) ki awaaz, pressure cooker ki seeti...
    2. That specifically weird and disturbingly calming sound of the ceiling fan gone nuts...
    3. The frustratingly deafening freaking traffic horns...

I live abroad for my studies and yes, it's absolutely the sound and the smell that brings you home! No matter how much I complain about how noisy it gets in India, when I'm sitting abroad in a room so quiet I can hear my heart beat, I miss that sound!

for me it's the sound of om. Usually when I m wake late at night at 2am, the temple beside my apartment has on its speaker in very low volume but you can hear it only when everything and everyone is asleep. That is peace for me. om chanting in the background at 2am also the dogs barking.

The early morning sound of the broom sweeping the roads, the song that played at a temple nearby at 6 a.m.
Also blowing air into a chulha using a pipe, the sound of powdering things in a big mortar.

For me the sound of southern Tamil Nadu is the sound of the sea with a buzzing noise from the thermal station near by and the sound of the cars passing by fast in the bypass road.
